I loved the art style but found the narrative a little too disjointed which made it difficult to follow. After reading the authors note at the end, some things were made more clear, but I wish some of that information had been included in the actual story.

Astronautical by Brooklin Stormie was rather hard to read, because it shows so much promise marred by the raw state of nearly every aspect. The whimsical worldbuilding, laden with astrophysical easter eggs, is constantly overshadowed by the plot, which is interesting but has its twists over-signaled and devolvements over-explained. The bright and slightly mystic art, like the plot, seems to tug away from the strengths of the piece, held back by uncertain draftsmanship and awkward character designs (contrast the crowded, arbitrary lines of the repair substance on page 110 with the sublime field of sky-whales on page 126).

I’d like to see Stormie tighten up her art, and I want her to be more subtle in her plotting, but more than either of those, I want to see her continue her writing and art, because there’s so much good material here and I want to see it brought its true potential.

I really can't tell if I liked this or not. It felt like a combination of two of my favorite shows, Over the Garden Wall and Adventure Time, but without any of the charm or character. Neither of the brothers were that likable, and I don't think I can rate it higher than a 2.5.

This is a middle grade graphic novel that I wasn't the target audience for, but I had a good time. I think I would've liked the story fleshed or a little bit more but the artwork was really cute.

Thank you Netgalley and Annick Press for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This was an absolutely gorgeous book. The story and plotting was fast paced and fun. The art was superb. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves graphic novels.

I really liked the illustrations in this book but the story didn’t feel as fleshed out as I’d hoped. It was still a great story. Really fun. Loved the setting and the ideas. The space settings always make me happy. I also liked the siblings relationship with each other a lot.

A fun and twisty middle-grade graphic novel debut about an intergalactic rescue mission, for fans of Steven Universe and Zita the Space Girl. A good book about astronautical story.

Thank you Annick Press and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this book. This is a quirky and somewhat weird middle grade drama of intergalactic proportions. It might not be for everyone, but I would suggest to give it a try and see for oneself.

When their father is kidnapped, brothers Max and Lari set out on an intergalactic rescue mission to get him back. Along the way, they encounter mischievous stars, cosmic tantrums, and greedy black holes. The story is a little thin and the characters are kinda flat, but I am sure that kids are going to love it. The story is exciting and the pictures are imaginative. With silly characters, goofy jokes, and constant action, this will be a hit with kids looking for laughs and adventure.

A children's story about two brothers in space and a rescue mission they must go on. I thought this one was ok. I didn't love the illustrations and thought the story was just ok. Maybe if I had liked the illustrations more I would have been more invested in the story.
