This is a medieval romance that is part of a series. This one does have links to the first but easily read on it's own. Somebody wants control of our heroine, and is refusing to accept defeat. She will have a lot of difficulties to overcome.
Our hero is the type who cannot see a woman in trouble without putting his life on the line to help her. Even if she is unknown to him.
An emotional and action packed story with wonderful characters.
You get pulled in on the first page and hooked until the end.
I loved it.

I don't know how I missed reading the first two books in this series, but I will take care of that immediately!
I loved Genvieve and Winslow's story. Winslow is swoon worthing as he rescues and protects individuals without knowing them. Genvieve always felt safe in his presence.
This story had it all - drama, attempted murder, intrigue, betrayal, fantastic characters, and so much to keep my attention from beginning to end. It was an emotional story that pulled you into the story and the characters lives.

Rescuing the Lady of Sedgeworth by CH Admirand is the third in the Ladies of the Keep series, which I believe is a re-release. It is a middle ages story rather than Admirand’s typical Regency romance. It plays off the earlier two books in the series, and brings Genvieve to Merewood. As she is attacked by some soldiers, Winslow MacInnes sees what is happening and rushes forward to lend assistance. He takes her to Merewood to be cared for. After this is is a confusion of not mentioning names (by accident) and keeping secrets (also by accident). These factors make it quite an entertaining story until the various plots are uncovered and solved.

Winslow is in love with the mistress of Merewood. He had tried to convince her to marry him instead of her husband, but her mind was made up and she seemed happy with the decision. Not so Winslow, who didn’t believe he would ever love again. Of course, his men saw the truth on his face very time he looked at Genvieve. Genvieve had been on her way to become the nanny to her cousin’s child. She was not only a widow but had also lost her opportunity for happiness when her betrothed was killed. It really was a conundrum. Excellent characters by Admirand: two people who believed love had passed them by. Written gently and interestingly in such a way that the reader was cheering for them immediately. Fun book by a terrific author.

I was invited to read Rescuing the Lady of Sedgeworth by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #CHAdmirand #RescuingTheLadyOfSedgeworth

Genevieve is harmed on the journey to her cousin's and can't speak. Garrick comes to her rescue and from there the adventure begins. A story filled with action, great banter, suspense, fast paced, intrigue, danger of just enough steam to capture any readers attention. Love the characters depth, chemistry and interactions. Also enjoyed most of the secondary characters. From a writer with fantastic talent, this third book in the series is a winner!

I really enjoyed this third installment of the series. The second chance at love story is very well written, fast-paced and full of danger, action, suspense, intrigue, humorous banter and some steam. The protagonists and most of the secondary characters are very likable.
I don't recommend reading this book on its own, as Winslow and his backstory have already been introduced in the first book in the series.

On the way back from Scotland to Merewood Keep, Winslow, one of Garrick's vassals, accidentally witnesses an attack on Genvieve. He rescues the unconscious woman and brings her, injured herself, to Meerewood. She cannot speak due to a blow to her throat and Winslow seems to be the only one who can understand her.
Genvieve de Chauret was on her way to Meerewood with her young cousin Angélique to visit her cousin Augustin de Chauret, the new Lord of Meerewood, when she unexpectedly received a message to return to London urgently. But then she was attacked and woke up in Meerewood without a voice and with gaps in her memory.
Although the two are attracted to each other, Genvieve is still mourning her late husband and stillborn children, while Winslow continues to suffer from his unrequited love for Lady Jillian, Garrick's wife. But then the king grants Winslow with Sedgeworth Keep and orders Genvieve and Winslow to marry. In their new home, the assassination attempts on Winslow increase and Genvieve is suspected of being behind them…

If you like medieval romance novels with plenty of action, danger, feisty heroines and protective heroes, you are sure to enjoy this book!

I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

I had read the previous book and I'll admit, the first half of the book was a bit hard to follow. The second half was better.

Both of the characters, Genevieve and Winslow have a lot of hardship - attacks and poisoning. By the time the book is done, I think they've used 8 of their 9 lives, lol. My goodness, they need a break! It all turns out well and a very sweet epilogue too.

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

This third story in the Ladies of The Keep was an exciting and well written medieval romance set in the 11th century. It tells of much drama, action, intrigue, attempted murder, plots, and much more emotional and interesting issues that kept me engaged and entertained. The strong-willed and determined main characters were interesting. I enjoyed how everything works out in the end. I highly recommend reading!

Heart-stopping drama and romance from the opening pages, I found this novel exciting and fast-paced. My heart went out to Genvieve as she came under attack and one can only appreciate a hero who comes to her rescue without knowing who she is. By sheer chance, Genvieve ends up where she belongs in the first place, and although MacInness feels protective towards her, he battles with the overpowering feelings for a woman he cannot have. However, danger from an unexpected source arrives to separate MacInness from Genvieve and when the truth of the matter comes out, they cannot believe what they are hearing. Fortunately, despite a last-ditch attempt to destroy their growing attraction, the book comes to a lovely conclusion with both MacInness and Genvieve finding love and fulfillment. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Good second chance love story. Winslow McInniss is Garrick's vassal, and thanks to his service to the king, he was awarded the estate of Sedgeworth. He has been too busy to do anything with it, but now that he's returned from Scotland, he must do so. On his way back to Merewood, he stumbles across a young woman under attack. He rescues her, but she is badly injured. He takes her to Merewood to be cared for. There is something about her that arouses his protective instincts.

Genvieve is Augustin's cousin and is on the way to Merewood to help care for his daughter when she is attacked. She fights as best she can but is badly injured before a stranger appears and saves her. She wakes up surrounded by strangers and unable to speak because of an injury to her throat. She is wary of those around her but trusts McInniss. I ached for Genvieve. Her fear of her unknown circumstance and frustration at being unable to communicate was palpable. (Though she can read and write, why didn't she just write notes to people?)

McInniss and Genvieve initially resist the attraction between them. McInniss loves a woman who is married to someone else and has given up on love because of it. Genvieve had loved and lost and had no desire to risk further pain. Nonetheless, McInniss is determined to discover who is behind the attack on Genvieve and doesn't recognize that the need stems from his growing feelings for her. Being forced into marriage isn't what either wants.

Suspense builds as McInniss delves deeper into the attack on Genvieve. Matters become complicated when he, too, is attacked. The truth he uncovers shocks and appalls him. The resolution was heartbreaking in what it exposed. I liked seeing Genvieve and McInniss finally let go of their pasts and embrace the future. The epilogue was well done.

Another thing I enjoyed about this series was the presence of McInniss's "Irish Contingent." These men are O'Malleys and the ancestors of those in the Duke's Guard series. I'd like to know more about them.

Thank you Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel.

Spoiler Alerts:

I haven't read the previous books in this series and did at times find myself confused about everyone's backstories. I found a few things didn't work for me. First off, MacInness seems to instantly fall in love with this woman (Genevieve) he has just found (okay -- it's romance and this is (kind of the norm) but then suddenly we find out he doesn't actually love her (couldn't possibly) b/c he's in love with his BFF's wife -- and even thought they are madly in love, he still holds out hope that she will leave his BFF for him (?), Clearly, this was to build tension and throw in an obstacle to their love story but it just didn't work for me.

The next issue was that some of the story was disconnected. Genevieve finds out that her mother is behind the attempt on MacInness around the same time MacInness figures it out. MacInness leaves and returns back with both her parents and her reaction is weird. She doesn't think to speak to her mother or warn her husband that she thinks (knows) her mom is trying to kill him? Instead she basically meets her mom at dinner and was like "Hey mom, what's up? Meet my husband." It was all so weird.

That all said, I liked all the other aspects of this novel. The characters were intriguing and the plot was mostly interesting and definitely fast paced. I just had issues with some of the plot.

Destiny, Highland Warriors, Wickedly Evil Villain:
I found myself very engrossed in this highly charged romance story with several interesting characters that kept the story moving at a good pace.
I had not read any of the previous books in the series and I did not feel lost.
The story had all of the things I look forward to reading in a highland love story. The romance did have plenty of passion.
My favorite character throughout the story was Winslow. Terrific character that captured my heart. He made the story for me.
Genvieve was not my favorite. I felt she was self-centered and petty.
The villain was a mystery as to who and why until the very end.
I do look forward to reading more of the series as this book was written quite well and was a very enjoyable story.

Merewood Keep, has an unexpected visitor who can not speak for herself due to her injuries. Lady Genieve is not one to just stand by and let things happen but with her injuries she has no choice.
MacInness, vassal to Garrick of Merewood, as saved a young lady and brought her home to Merrewood. Because he has done the crown a service he is now the Lord of Sedgeworth but can not go to his land until things are taken care of at Merewood. Once he gets to Sedgeworth the situation is worse than he thought.
I couldn’t help but to read this book right away because I adore the author and this series has been sooo good.
A compelling read with wonderful characters and a plot that only thickens throughout the book. Glimpses of what is really going on are throughout the book which only spurs on the reader to keep going.
The third book in this series but you will not have to read the others to know what’s going on but you might want to in order to understand the dynamics going on.
