The Companions are back as a group, but not for long. Some are off to the north, some to monastaries, and others are just seeking adventure. Meanwhile, the Drow and the orcs are on the move against the dwarves and human cities near their realm of Many-Arrows when a new orc warlord emerges after the death of the peace-loving king is killed. Drizzt finds himself and his friends in the midst of the problems as they seek to find help for besieged human cities. Being the middle book of a series, the book ends with a few cliff-hangers to entice readers into the next book. Overall, a very nice continuation of the series.

I used to be crazy about the Drizzt stories. I feel that Salvatore has lost his magic. Maybe I've just grown tired of them. Either way this book just didn't do anything for me.
