This was a good read that kept me interested until the end. It didn't end quite the way that I thought it would be I wasn't disappointed at all. Recommended!!
Lindy is stalking Mia and the question is why?
Lindy has enough problems of her own and i loved that the reader is kept guessing about that.
Mia drove me crazy, would someone really put up with what her husband does?
Really exiting twisty tale which i read far to quickly.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Oh this book got me! I was so attached to it from the first chapter. I couldn't wait to see how it ended. Loved it Sadie Ryan! Great writing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.
The Housekeeper was a creepy thriller that kept me on my toes wondering what would happen. Opening with full on stalker Lindy who is watching Mia and lusting after her perfect life, we soon get a domestic thriller as we find that Mia’s life isn’t so perfect (and in fact her husband is a raging psychopath). I was here for the whole ride until I felt like I got a different book smooshed into this one with the ending. Throughout The Housekeeper tension is built wondering what had happened to Lindy to isolate her so much that she watched Mia so closely. With Mia the tension ramped up in figuring out how Mia is going to escape her abusive husband. And all these things come together, albeit a bit clumsily in the final stretch. But after almost 90% of the book, which was written very well in having the reader wondering how everything could be resolved, things very quickly progressed and culminated in a series of events that didn’t feel true to the characters or true to the trajectory of the book.
I really enjoyed the majority of this story, and I think other readers will too. Just be forwarded that the ending is a definitive one, but doesn’t feel in line with the story.
A suspenseful and creepy thriller. The reader will be addicted to the dark plot. The twists will keep you glued to the pages.
I had to stay up late so I could see how it ended. I was hooked!
The Housekeeper, is a story that keeps your eyes glued to the page.
I couldn’t help but finish the whole thing in one sitting! The author's writing style is absolutely captivating and engaging! 🤩
I also loved the multiple POVs; it’s one of the things in books that makes me swing my feet in the air while reading! 😂The storyline starts with a lady named Linda, a hotel worker who is obsessing over Mia. From Linda’s POV, Mia looks like someone who has a perfect life, but later, when we get to Mia’s POV, it’s something else! 🥹 It’s so heart-wrenching 😤 to see her go through these things, and her husband Ricky is such a manipulator and narcissist—ewww, so self-centered! I hated how much he played the role of an ideal husband to the outside world, but is a whole monster behind closed doors 😤. He changed so fast after discovering a letter Mia had hidden, detailing the money bequeathed to her children by her beloved grandmother.
From the start of this story, even from Linda’s POV, where she goes on and on about how Mr. Husband Ricky is always around Mia, I just knew he was creepy and that something was off about him.
I’m glad my instincts were right; something about him was off from the start. Also, another red flag for me is those rushed marriages—how do you meet and then get engaged that same week? Be fr!!!
There were lots of surprises and shocking moments in the book.
But nothing prepared me for the latter part of the book!!! Bruhhh, my jaw dropped! It took a wild turn, and the plot twist was insane!
Great read!! This book had light suspense, murder, mystery, terrible grief, intrigue, double crossing, gaslighting, abuse, and a few crazy twists and turns! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! It’s well worth reading! Thank you NetGalley, my favorite, Joffe books!! And Sadie Ryan for sharing this book with me! My name is Linda. Most of my friends, not that I have many left, call me Lindy. I work as a housekeeper in a local hotel. I had the world at my feet once. Not any more!
I just started this arc copy and I am enjoying this psychological thriller so far. Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher of this book for making this heart gripping psychological thriller available in the read now section.
