Thank you so much to Sadie Hewitt, NetGalley & Victory Editing for my gifted review copy of ππππ ππ£π ππ€ππ! This review is comprised entirely of my own thoughts & opinions, & is based on the copy I received.
Sadie Hewitt does it again with her newest release, Vice and Void! An urban fantasy setting that gives all the Sons of Anarchy vibes?! Yes please. As soon as I saw this was SOA meets Fantasy Romance, I knew I needed to read it and it did not disappoint. It was unique and exciting and completely different than anything Iβve read before and itβs one of those books that are going to stick with me because it just feels super special!
The second chance romance between our MCs was PHENOMENAL! Dakota and Callum are simply amazing and the tension and angst between them was just delicious. I donβt read many second chance romances but this one reminded me of how good they can be! The LONGING between them simply sent me. I couldnβt get enough and they were just making my heart feel all the emotions. I loved watching them each realize they had been in love with each other all this time. Their romance was beautifully written, and it was written in a way where you could feel their emotions in your soul. It made me so invested in their story! I love a romance that packs an emotional punch, and this one punched me repeatedlyπ
The motorcycle club biker gang concept was new to me and I gotta say, I LOVED it. It seriously gave me so many Sons of Anarchy vibes and I was living for it! Callum is just β¨perfection!β¨ Tattoed, morally grey, sexy, broody MMC, and he has a motorcycle - I meanβ¦ what more can you ask for?!
Honestly, there isnβt a thing I would change about this book! It had such an amazing mixture and blend of everything I love in a book - the romance was perfect, the world building was easy to understand, the plot held my attention, and I got lost in the story every time I picked it up. It was fraught with emotion and depth and healing, and I love that there was an overall fantastical feel to it with the blood magic and the banished gods.
The cliffhanger has me definitely excited for the next book in the series and I already canβt wait to find out what happens.
3.75 stars
the concept of this book sounded right up my alley: second chance love, alchemist/blood magic, political corruption, bad ass motorcycle gang. unfortunately this book fell flat for me as i felt like it all felt a bit half baked. i wanted to like the magic system, but i didnβt feel like the backstory with the βbanished godsβ was explained enough to understand how it even worked. adding the motorcycle gang element into it just made it feel like this story was two different books being forced into one, and it didnβt mesh for me. i feel like if this was a contemporary romance with a motorcycle gang leader who was dating a doctor OR if it had focused on the alchemists/gods/distills while introducing a second chance lover who had inconsequential involvement outside of a side plot of romance, the author would of had a lot more time to develop the characters and really focus on the story instead of trying to explain how these two things actually go together. admittedly, i donβt usually vibe too hard with urban fantasy though, so that could have been the missing thread for me there.
i was very happy to see that the main characters were actual ADULTS for once instead of lame teenagers. this made the plot a lot more engaging as they are both around my age, so i could relate to a lot of their feelings and headspace. this also meant that the characters made (mostly) mature and thought out decisions, which was definitely a breath of fresh air.
the last 35% of the story really saved this book. there were so many things happening in the first bit that i kind of felt like i was drowning in subplots and side characters. once i got a grasp of who everyone was and which part of the story line they played a part in, i started to get into it. sometimes less is more, and trying to over commit to plot twists just convolutes the story instead of creating shock and awe. these characters stories are definitely unique, but i kind of ended up asking myself if some of it was really necessary to add outside of just deepening the layers drama instead of adding to the plot?
ultimately i did really enjoy the end of this book, and i will likely read the second one. iβm invested in callum and dakotaβs love story, and want to see how the gang is able to clear callumβs name.
Okay, what a cliffhanger!
The beginning took me awhile to get hooked. I'm glad I persevered because it got really good. There was great world building. The tension between Callum and Dakota was intense. I can't wait for the next book!
This was such a fun book! You get banished gods, A biker club that gives you all the sons of anarchy vibes I wanted and more. Second Chance Romance, blood magic, touch her and I'll end you vibes and so much spice. Dakota comes back to her hometown by request from her father and her best friend goes missing. When she goes to her father for help he dismisses her and she ends up going to her Ex-boyfriend Callum for help instead. He's The vice president of his biker club. His club is currently in some shady business but Dakota doesn't know who else to ask for help. Going to her Ex for help comes with a price and being around Callum brings up a lot of things from their past, bad and good. The banter, the anticipation, this slow burn was driving me crazy and the best way possible. There are secrets that get revealed that not only in Callum but her father was keeping from Dakota. This book leaves you wanting more. This book really kept me on my toes and the relationship between Dakota and Callum develops and unfolds in the most beautiful way. I truly had a good time reading this book and I can't wait for book two.

I love how unique the story of Vice and Void is!! This book is in an urban setting that has badass biker gangs?! And the MMC is a morally grey man in a biker gang!! YES YES YES!
I love this whole story! The MCβs are exes with a convoluted past that haunts them throughout the book. The yearning and tension between the two is written perfectly!!
I enjoyed that this was an easy to follow urban fantasy! The world building was relatively simple and easy to follow while still being interesting! 10/10 recommend reading this!!
This book was *Chefs Kiss*; it brought me back to high school during the high of Team Jacob vs Team Edward. The romance was fantastic; the chemistry was so good that it jumped off the page. The storyline kept my attention, and I finished this book in 2 days. My only issues were typos and grammatical errors, but I'm sure that will be fixed before it goes up for sale. I look forward to the next book and reading more from this author!
Wow, just wow! I wanted to read this book for the cover alone and stayed and loved it for the plot, the Sons of Anarchy vibe mixed with a supernatural twist.
There were so many twists and shocks that I'm happy to say I got some of them right, other completely blindsided me. It's a book full of action, subterfuge and suspence that if you're familiar with Sons of Anarchy you know what I'm talking about. Plus, the second chance, slow burn relationship between Callum and Dakota was so great!
The first few chapters were a bit slow but I get it that the author wanted us to get into the world and the setting before throwing us to the wolves and the gods.
The cliffhanger at the end? I knew Dakota was going to do what she did, but I did not see the conversation Callum had in the epilogue. And man, do I want to read book 2 to see how things unravel! Hopefully, this is a duology so I don't need to go over this rollercoaster of emotion and fear for both Callum and Dakota π€ These two would burn the world and the gods for each other.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review! I enjoyed this book, especially the interesting magic system. While I found the some of the plot somewhat predictable, Iβm still eager to see where the series goes next.
The story centers on two protagonists from vastly different worlds who reconnect 12 years after dating. Callum, now second in command in a motorcycle gang, crosses paths with Dakota, a highly respected alchemist, when her best friend goes missing, sparking their reconnection.
The pacing in the first half of the book is slower, but it picks up around Chapter 15. My favorite part was the blood magic which was introduced gradually, it felt fresh and intriguing, and I hope it takes on an even larger role in book two! I also appreciated how the book touches on themes like mental health, addiction, stalking, and found family, which added depth and made the characters feel more relatable.
Overall: The mix of an urban setting with a dark magic system created an engaging contrast. I think highlighting the magic system earlier and in more depth would have made this a 5 star read for me, but Iβm excited for book two now that the world building groundwork is laid!
**This could use another round of copy editing / proofreading - there were consistent typos, punctuation issues, missing words from sentences / sentence fragments, wrong forms or tenses of words used etc.**

Plot 5/5
The plot is undeniably engaging. The blend of contemporary themes with fantasy elements created a unique backdrop that was thrilling and immersive. At times, I found myself forgetting the story was set in a fantasy world, as the author often prioritized the charactersβ emotional journeys over supernatural aspects (I mean when I tell you there's drama, there's D-R-A-M-A). This choice added a refreshing twist, as just when I thought I had a handle on the story, the author would reintroduce magical elements that kept the suspense alive. Be prepared to stay on your toes!
Writing Quality 3.75/5
This was the biggest area of negative feedback for me. While the storyline was compelling, the writing could benefit from another round of copy editing. I encountered several typos, punctuation issues, and sentence fragments that disrupted the flow. Despite these distractions, the engaging narrative pulled me through, making it easy to overlook some of the technical flaws.
Spice: πΆοΈπΆοΈπΆοΈ
This is *definitely* a slow burn β€οΈβπ₯. The romantic tension between Dakota and Callum was a highlight of the story. Their second-chance love story is beautifully crafted, filled with passion and emotional depth. The spicy scenes are well-drawn out, serving as a slow burn that adds to the overall intensity without overwhelming the plot. Itβs not overly smutty, but definitely has enough steam to satisfy readers looking for that extra layer of intimacy.
Emotional Impact: 4.5/5
I found myself emotionally invested in every.single.character....I was DESPERATELY rooting for Callum & Dakota and their reunion amidst the chaos. The supporting cast adds a rich dynamic, each character bringing their unique flair to the narrative. The dramatic twists and turns kept me turning pages, and the unresolved threads at the end left me so ready for book 2.
Characters:
Dakota and Callum (ATTN ATTN !!! 30-year-old FMC and MMC...Thank god!!!), are relatable and mature, making their love story all the more engaging. The supporting characters are well-developed, enhancing the overall richness of the plot. I appreciated the depth they brought, adding layers to the unfolding mystery.

*Vice and Void* is an intense, wild ride from start to finish, and I was absolutely blown away. This book hooked me so completely that I devoured it in a single goβI just couldnβt put it down. The emotional punches keep coming one after another, each revelation landing like a bombshell that left me reeling.
The connection between Dakota and Callum is beautifully painfulβfull of longing, heartache, and so much history that it practically pulses off the page. Their shared past is both heartwarming and gut-wrenching, and they both carry immense pain and confusion over the way their relationship ended. When they finally confront their past, itβs a pivotal moment loaded with new, heart-wrenching truths that add another layer of depth to their story. But thank the gods this is a second-chance romance because the connection between them is electric and only increases in its magnitude and intensity.
This story is woven with layers that make it absolutely riveting. The intricate web of relationships, buried secrets, and betrayals creates a fascinating tapestry that had me on the edge of my seat. To say I was pulled in is an understatementβthe story completely consumed me.
The world-building is a marvel on its own, with a unique magic system, intriguing alchemical elements, and lore tied to banished gods. The cast of characters all play important roles to the story and I especially loved Lyra, Thalia, Rocco, and Kane.
*Vice and Void* has it all, from its βitβs always been youβ love story to the kind of gut-wrenching emotions that had me in tears. It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves things unresolved, and I am absolutely dying for the next book. I canβt recommend this one enough to lovers of urban fantasyβitβs unforgettable.
This is a very gripping read, heavy on the romance light on the fantasy but enough to keep the intrigue going. Spicy, motorbike gang with a touch of magic and second chance romance. I'd definitely recommend.
This was a strong start to the Savage Wolves Brotherhood series, it was everything that I wanted from this type of book. The characters were everything that I was looking for and enjoyed the way it worked with the fantasy element. I thought the idea of using occult science was a unique take and enjoyed what I read.
I received a free ARC for this review.
Really enjoyed this! I was a huge fan of βSons of Anarchyβ, and the similarities are definitely plentiful, but not in a rip-off kind of way. Let me also say, Iβm a 40 year old, straight dude that loves these fantasy books. I donβt care for the spice, but a lot of these books have really entertaining plotsβ¦this is one of those books!
Dakota Montgomery is an alchemist in training, who also has ties to a motorcycle club, and their second-in-command, Callum Reynolds. They share a heavy past, and the events towards the beginning of the book bring them crashing back together.
Iβve never been a huge fan of magic/fantasy stuff in a modern setting, but it works so well here. The distills that are made are used for various thingsβ¦blood replenishment, pain relief, and euphoria. Brewing these on your own is highly illegal, so of course our main character just has to dabble in that!
This book does end on a major cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to read more about these characters and their world!

This book is described as Sons of Anarchy meets Fantasy Romance, and it absolutely πΈπ°π³π¬π΄. This book gave a well thought out story where every single word is purposeful, with deep and complex characters that you only want to keep learning about, and a fresh new take on magic that is so interesting that you feel you could read a whole book just on it. Oh, and hot badass motorcycle dudes with guns.
Dakota and Callum. We found ourselves yelling "just freaking KISS already!" any time these two were in each other's presence. Their chemistry was radically hot. Like ππΌππ. After 12 years apart, tensions have built and walls have to come down, but boy when they do π₯΅

Thank you to author and publisher for the arc!
This was my first book by this author and oh my god will I be reading more from her asap. This book was so well written, I finished this in two days! I was just blazing through it and before I knew it I was up at 3 am giggling and kicking my feet.
Iβm a sucker for anything with motorcycle gangs and this just delivered everything I love and more.
Be sure to check the TWβs before reading this book as some things could be triggering for some.
This was such a good beginning to the Savage Wolves series.
There were so many twists throughout the story, thereβs a lot to learn on the way about Vitals, Veils and Voids, the marks they show and the powers they have.
Dakota is a fantastic FMC, sheβs been through A LOT in the twelve years since she last saw Callum, and during the progress of the book. Callum and Dakota feel like fated mates - although this isnβt referenced in the story - theyβre drawn to each other and when they come together sparks fly.
There are so many tropes within this story:
Enemies to lovers (kinda)
Second chance
Found family
Touch her and d*e
Love after loss
I really enjoyed the MC fantasy vibe, itβs an unusual mix in the fantasy world but itβs done so well.
The ending though⦠I need book 2 NOW
