I have read a few of Heather Garvin’s books in the past and while I think she has talent, this book is where I think she found her genre. Her other books (at least the ones I’ve read) are about high schoolers and college kids. They were good, great even, but this book was fantastic!! This books main characters are in their 20’s and 30’s and this book was perfect for these ages to read! It was not too cheesy, not inappropriate, and the story plot was so cute and Christmas. Especially with that plot twist at the end, this book was perfect. I loved it and will be suggesting it to anyone in need of a cozy Christmas read that is also spicy and has a slow burn, friends to lovers trope. Thanks Heather!

Y'all this book!!! I read it SOO fast because I couldn't put it down. It's not quite a novella but it is a shorter holiday romance.
Their meet cute sucked me in from the start. Then the text banter! The banter period sold me. Then he falls SO HARD. Completely gone for her. She's a hair dresser which I don't see often. He needs a date for a work Christmas party.
Her roommate is hilarious and a great side mm story I would love to see more on!! They both have past relationship drama which makes them hesitant to date...
Ate it up! Read it so fast because I couldn't put it down.
❄️🎄 Make sure this one is on your holiday tbr!!
Thank you netgalley for this ARC
When the Fake Snow Falls was a delight to read! I could just tell that the author that written multiple romance books before. The pacing was perfect, the story flowed and the character development was believable. And I didn't even see the plot twist coming.
Here's what I liked most about the book:
1. The characters felt like real individuals with unusual quirks.
2. The banter was top notch.
3. I really liked the depiction of power imbalance in the workplace.
4. The spice level was perfect for my liking.
The book was a nice twist on other Christmas themed books that usually take place in a snowed-in city with lots of christmas-y activities. I think even the Grinch would like this book :)
*4.5
I had a good time reading this. I kind of wanted to shake Candace a bit because it was so obvious that Chase wanted to be with her but she was not getting it. I love an oblivious character.
I received an arc through netgalley.
I might be lowkey in love with Chase…. Strong labrador vibes with that one!
After accidentally writing down her number on a napkin not meant for her, Candace decides nothing more than friendship could ever happen. But Chase needs a fake girlfriend to his company’s Christmas party to stop his pushy boss and who better than his new friend Candace? I think we can all guess how that friendship turns out…
Have to be honest, could see the plot twist coming from a mile away, but the banter made up for it. And Miles, don’t forget Miles, Candace’s gay roommate.
Would sometimes get a bit annoyed at Candace’s insistence on only being friends when everyone could see the man was totally falling for her, but still, would definitely recommend!
Candace Hanes is no stranger to the dating scene. In fact, she’s been on nothing but casual dates since her last serious relationship ended years ago. But as soon as Chase Mitchell asks for her number on a discarded receipt, she’s smitten.
Except, he hadn’t asked for her number at all. He was more interested in the barista working behind the counter.
As soon as Candace realizes this irresistible man isn’t interested in her, she knows she needs to keep him at a distance. No one that suave, that charismatic, that hot has any business being just her friend.
Easier said than done. Especially when Chase admits he needs a fake date for his company’s Christmas party to keep his insufferable boss from cornering him under the mistletoe. . . again.
Now, Candace has to find a way to make it through practice dates, subtle touches, and fake kisses unscathed.
Will their performance simply keep his boss at bay, or will Candace get a love that lasts for Christmases to come?
hehehe. That is literally the first thing I can think about when telling someone about this book. I ended up reading this book in one setting, from the get go the story had me hooked. The banter was adorable between the main character and pretty much every character she interacts with. There is such a strong connection to the characters where you feel like this is a story you are watching first hand. Descriptions are very important to understand the characters and for someone like me who visualizes all the stories I read it was so beautiful to see how the characters are described. It was very smooth writing and the plot made me smile and giggle sooo many times. There is a good bit of spice I would rate it about a 5.9/ 10 on the spice scale but it was not derogative at all. The spice added a sense of intimacy for the love story. With the FMC there were a lot of emotions and areas where we could understand what she was thinking and it was so realistic. I could see a lot of my own thoughts and feelings in her and I really enjoyed that this could be about a real life group of people with its added sense of Hallmark. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to tell others about it!
This is probably my favorite Christmas romance I've read in a long time! The chemistry was off the charts from the beginning and that had me hooked! The whole premise of Chase wanting the baristas number and not hers was so funny but also so relatable and embarrassing. From a failed meet cute to fake dating, I could not put this book down!
Thank you NetGalley & Tuscan Publishing for this ARC! I am deep into Christmas books already this year and I was SO excited to read this one. Chase is my new book boyfriend and he is now the standard moving forward.
Holy cow the chemistry of Chase & Candace was off the charts! I would recommend this to anyone!
Thank you to NetGalley, Heather Garvin, and the publishers for allowing me access to the e-Arc.
4.25 stars
This is the perfect Christmas romance to read if you want a shorter, funny, and great cast of characters. I could see this book as a movie. It was very entertaining. I could not stop laughing at the conversations between Candace and Chase. Their meet-cute may not be the most ideal but I loved the way it all worked out.
I highly recommend it!
Heather Gavin never misses!! I love the fake dating trope and I love holiday romances, so this was just the perfect book for me. This book was cute, fun, sexy, and had so many laugh out loud moments that I loved reading. The chemistry between Chase and Candace was also off the charts and I love their banter, awkward meet-cute, and incredibly sweet/intimate moments.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc!!!
This fake dating, funny, and oh-so-sweet romance about Chase and Candace is perfect for the upcoming holiday season.
I don’t read a ton of holiday books, but When the Fake Snow Falls certainly makes me want to read more. I flew through this book in less than 24 hours and didn’t want to put it down! It was engaging from the start, hooking me with the humor and heart that is so present in every chapter. I loved our main couple - Candace and Chase. Watching them grow from friends to something more was the sweetest, and their chemistry was simply amazing. I would’ve loved to see Chase’s POV at times, but Candace was a great character from which to view the whole story. I didn’t want their story to end, and I definitely plan to keep reading more from the author! This is my third book by her, and they all get more and more fun.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the author for the ARC of When the Fake Snow Falls.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
A girl walks into a coffee shop, and a hot guy gives his number to the wrong girl, resulting in a friendship and fake dating? YES, PLEASE!
I haven't read a book so fast in a while. The banter, the tension, the chemistry—absolute perfection!
I immediately fell in love with Candace and was rooting for her all the way. The meet cute gone wrong and fake dating was perfectly executed and I could not get enough of Chase. Not to mention Miles, who is the perfect bestie and side character. Everything about this read was so good!
When Candace goes to get a coffee she thinks the hot stranger in front of her asked her for her number... only when they begin texting she figures out he meant to ask the barista for her number... but as they become friends and agree to fake date, Candace really begins to fall for him... can they take this fake relationship and make it real? Candace only meant to get a coffee but when the hot stranger in front of her writes "number?" On the receipt she assumes he means for her... yet when she texts him she finds out he meant to ask the barista for her phone number. His name is chase and soon chase and Candace begin texting and becoming friends... and when he ask her to help fake date him so his boss can stop trying to come onto him she agrees, firmly stating that they are just friends. Chase begins acting like a real boyfriend... like he's really falling for her but Candace can't tell whether or not to open her heart up or if they were just meant to be a fake holiday date.... and when things get complicated will Candace risk it all for a chance at romance? This was a fairly cute romance and I really liked how sweet chase was. Candace was really cautious and the fake dating/friendzone was fun because you could tell just how in love with Candace chase was and how he wanted to prove to her that he's all in. It's a really sweet holiday read and I love the drama! Definitely pick it up if you're looking for a fun holiday read.

Candace & Chase!! Rounding for 4. This book was fun, and the perfect book to cozy up with hot cocoa if you are short on time.
While I personally didn't fall in love with either characters, I LOVED reading about them falling for each other. You cannot go wrote with fake dating. This book totally got me kicking my feet and screaming. I really enjoyed Heather's writing - this was my first book of hers & I am definitely going to read more.
Thank you to Heather & Victoria Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC!
SPICE: 2/5
Would 10/10 Recommend to a friend that is looking for a fun holiday read with the fake dating trope!
A potential meet cute gone wrong (or not?) Which leads to fake dating and a great friendship and banter. Lots of will they, won’t they? I can’t express how much I loved reading this. It was so cute! I didn’t want to put it down!
I love anything Heather Garvin confirmed. This was such a good holiday story just in time for the Christmas season. Heather is becoming an auto-buy author for me.
“If she keeps saying that they are just friends, I will jump into that book…” that was what I said to Heather this morning, as I was finishing reading this masterpiece of a Christmas Story. It was everything I could have wished for, in a good Christmas Book. Witty, funny, sexy, that are the words I would use, to describe the Story between Candace and Chase.
I could find a little bit of me in Candace. If someone would have told me, that he wanted the number from the barista and not mine, I would back the fuck off. We can be friends, but nothing more…too bad when he realizes that I am way more his type, than he ever imagined.
And Chase, oh Chase. He dug his grave, when he told her, that even though he is typing with her, he went back to ask the number of the barista. Wrong move! He realizes way to late, that with his action he is doomed to be kept in the friendzone, even if her eyes say something else.
While I enjoyed this book way too much, there was one scene, that had me absolutely swooning:
THAT.FIRST.KISS!!!!
It was…magic…I think in that moment, the temperature around me went up like…whoa!
Let me tell you this, if you are on the search for a heart melting, swooning Christmas Story, then you have definitively found one. If you don’t put this book on your TBR List, you are missing out darling.
Wrong number and fake date to a Christmas party what could go wrong. I didn't think I would like this one but I gave it a try and ended up loving it. Especially since it didn't feel like a typical Christmas rom com and more importantly it didn't feel like a hallmark movie in book form. Not that inherently anything wrong with hallmark Christmas movies in general. I'm just not a fan of them because they tend to be to predictable. But When the Fake Snow falls kept me on my toes from first page to last page. And I fell in love with the story and the hero and could relate to the heroine.
I really enjoyed this book! I did start of a bit hesitant with the plot but I think the Heather Gavin really tied the story together well. She also has a really great writing style so I can’t wait to check out more of her books.
