Freddy & Ro were absolutely perfect 🥹💚
6 ⭐️ 2.25 🌶️
AHHHHHH I was so happy to be back in the Peyton-verse for another beautiful story!!
Within 5 minutes of meeting Freddy, you love him. He’s funny and sweet but so kind and misunderstood all the the same time, until Ro. She sees him for more than the hockey star who makes everyone smile. She sees his struggles and his heart.
The way they each showed the other grace and patience? I was a goner. They were exactly what the other person needed. I will never be over them!! 🥰💚😍

I really enjoyed Unsteady, but Unloved wasn't my favorite. I didn't feel the same connection with Ro and Freddy as I did the characters in Unsteady.
Since I have family member that deals with a lot of the same educational issues as Freddy, I would've thought I enjoyed them as a character more, but something for me was just missing. Despite it not being my favorite in the series, it was still a well-written and enjoyable book. It may have just been me.
I am interested in the next in the series, and I am super excited for Peyton that she has a publisher now because I think she's going to do great things in the world of romance. :)

Unfortunately this book was a DNF for me. I don't think it was anything due to the story or the writing, but more so my mood. I had a hard time getting into the story and connecting to the characters. I'm grateful for the opportunity to read this book though and thank you to Netgally, the publisher, and of course, Ms. Corinne.

I absolutely loved Unsteady and felt an instant connection to both main characters, and found their pain and backstories believable and supportive of their feelings. I had really high hopes that I would feel that same connection with Ro and Matty but unfortunately, their backstories fell a little flat in supporting their idea of being “unloved”, particularly for Ro. I think they both suffered with relationships that made them feel that way but I was expecting a more systemic set of life experiences that led them to feel that way. All that said, I think the healing they did together as far as romantic relationships was really well done and I still really enjoyed the book overall.

This book is so beautifully written about two individuals who are trying to find their places in the world. They each have their own set of struggles, they both feel *unloved*.
This story is full of angst, and the slowest of slow burns but just perfectly perfect all at the same time.
Ro and Matty complement each other so well, even if it took them far too long to figure it out.
Tropes:
slow burn
college hockey romance
tutor x student
friends to lovers
disability rep

Peyton did it again. These characters are so raw and real. I saw myself not only in Ro but also in Matt. Every emotion was pulled out of me while reading this book, I couldn’t stop reading their story, and I want to just be with this friend group forever. One of my favorite found families of all time. I love books where the characters are friends first and grow apart and then slowly get closer and closer and build that anticipation and tension and this book did it so well with giving us a tease at the beginning and then a very well executed slow burn throughout the story. Ro and Matt’s insecurities and troubles are so relatable and being fresh out of college it’s easy to see and relate to a lot of what they’re feeling. I really enjoyed how much emotion just fell off the page as you read and I cannot wait to get more from Peyton in the future , this series is already a 5 star series I just love them so so much.

Unloved: 🏒💔🎀

“I think you’d be really easy to love.”
A few things. 1. I didn’t realize how much of an emotional rollercoaster I would be on. I cried HARD, I rolled my eyes, and I giggled in the span of like 20 minutes. 2. Iwill not admit how many times I sang “Unsteady” by X-Ambassadors. It was a lot. 3. I’ve never hated a character more than Tyler.
The audio had to grow on me, I’ll be honest. I have a very “young” voice and have gotten it all my life. I felt like the audio was more YA sounding than NA. I did turn it off and on and read via print as much as I could.(It is a hefty weapon sized book, definitely concussion protocol sized at 450ish pages) But I did a few runs and had to listen to know what was going to happen, and I felt I got comfortable to the voices. Definitely an acquired taste on audio but I ended up enjoying it nonetheless.
Now this is book 2 in the series, and I haven’t read book 1. Regardless, Unloved really took me a few minutes to get into the first 2-3 chapters. But after that, I was a goner. I needed people to leave my two little angels alone and let them be happy for once. The ending gave me a few (lot) of happy tears, and it’s a beautiful read.
Out now!
QOTD: What’s the best book you’ve read so far this year?

Peyton, what a beautiful book. With Rhys's first book you showed me what a powerful writer you were, but with Matty's story you won my heart.
I loved that both Matt and Ro were growing through the book, and that one was the strength of the other.
It's such a beautiful innocent love of youth that every page is worth reading.

this book was everything to me. i’m not sure i really have the words to describe what freddy and ro mean to me.
i immediately found myself relating to ro in the prologue and soon after i connected with freddy. ro was such a sweet character and i saw so much of myself in her. freddy…where do i even begin. i felt so deeply for him as if he was a real person. his character felt so raw and real that i couldn’t stop crying at some points. he is so so kind and deserved so much better than what he was getting.
the word that kept ringing in my head like a bell the entire time i read about freddy and ro was tender. they are so so tender, soft, careful with one another. their romance wasn’t fast, it was slow and they took time to learn each others pleasures and pains. they found solace in each other. i loved seeing their build up and just watching them be true friends. the way they both cared for each other was so sweet❤️🩹
i truly loved everything about this book, there were times i was angry for the characters, sad, happy… everything was felt so deeply. i loved seeing more of other characters like bennett and toren and i also loved seeing rhys and sadie. it was cool to see this book happening at the same time as unsteady because there were scenes i had questions about that i finally got the answers to. this book also raised more curiosity for other characters as well👀.
both books in this series have been amazing but this one really just took it to the top for me. i can’t wait to see what comes next from peyton corinne🫶🏼
thank you to netgalley, atria books, and the author for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

PEYTON WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME?!
No, but really. Unloved was another amazing read. I think my favorite thing about the characters of these books is how relatable they are. They're worried about perception and failing, it makes them feel so real.
Unloved is a duel POV (hallelujah), it's so beautifully written and kept me engaged the entire time. I can't tell you how fast I absorbed this book. HIGHLY recommend you start with Unsteady and then follow with this beauty!
"My chest aches as I circle my arms around his neck and pull him closer. He smells like whiskey and body paint, but he feels dangerously like mine."

ARC Review. Thanks to NetGalley and Atria for providing me with an advanced copy for my honest review.
3.75 ⭐️. I honestly had to push myself to get past the first half of the book because I wanted to shake Ro like she was an actual friend just to tell her to snap out of it with her crappy boyfriend. I’ve seen it far too much in the real world. I kept going however, because I quite enjoyed the friendship/relationship between Ro and Matty and the found family aspects.
I did appreciate the representation of several things, the emotional/mental abuse, toxic relationships/friendships and especially the day to day of ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia.
I will definitely read from this author again.

Absolute. Pure. Perfection.
These books are so much more than hockey college romance. The story of grief and love was everything. The story of lose. The story of finding yourself. The story of navigating bad relationships and finding the strength to see it differently. The story of finding yourself and seeing yourself the way someone else does. Matty and Ro were the definition of soulmates. Ro was so much more than I expected her to be. Her fierceness and faith in Matty. The way she defended him…such a beautiful thing to witness. And Matty was perfection. The way he was flirty but loved everyone and just wanted to be there for everyone was 100000% relatable. I loved when everyone was there for him in his moment of need. And the way he was with Ros dad absolutely killed me.
And we can’t forget the calf squeeze.
Peyton writes with such tender care on such sensitive subjects. She has quickly become my favorite author

Matt Fredrick aka Freddy is book boyfriend perfection.
A college hockey coming of age romance.
A friends to lovers, slow burn is beautifully written loved this new book by Peyton Corinne.
Freddy is a hockey player with dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD.
His tutor Rosalie aka Ro has a worthless boyfriend named Tyler, who is mean and manipulative. Always leaving her stranded for Freddy to pick up the pieces. Peyton writes mental health and neurodiversity in a way that is relatable and not shameful. I really love the way these two work
on themselves, grieve and grow. The relationship that formed between Freddy and Ro is honest and a little angsty. I know this slow burn will be one of my top books of 2025!

5⭐️ 3🌶️
“Loving Rosalie Shariff would be easiest thing I’ve ever done—I know, because I’m already doing it.”

“He’s like a shower and cool sheets after baking in the summer sun. A nap after the beach, all at once comforting and invigorating. Healing.”
oh my god!!! i was itching for more glimpses of Freddy & Ro while reading Unsteady and immediately went to request the ARC from NetGalley (shoutout!!!🙂↕️) Miss Peyton did her thang with Freddy & Ro! they were in my head constantly when i had to put the book down and i couldn’t wait to get back to them again. their story was so incredibly tender and raw and vulnerable and precious. it is the sweetest & most heartfelt friends-to-lovers story i’ve ever read and the burn is SLOW but so worth it. seeing Freddy & Ro grow together & heal together was so beautiful. coming from experience, i know how special it is to have someone see you and love you wholly when you need it the most. (hello, why is my throat clogging as i type this) THE EPILOGUE WAS SOOOOOO EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
i feel so attached to the characters in this series! Peyton Corinne, i am a fan and i am begging and pleading on my knees for Bennett Reiners book, thank u!!!!
read this if you love…

“this book is, at its core, about grief and love-isn’t it kinda beautiful how gently hand in hand those two things go?” MISS PEYTON??? JAIL. ouch ouch ouch
this book had me up until 1:30 in the morning as someone who prioritizes their sleep because it was THAT GOOD! literally had me by the throat I could not stop reading. a hockey romance but also a deeply vulnerable and healing romance between two opposites looking for unconditional love and to be put first. Ro and Freddy are some of my favourite characters I’ve ever read about. the healing journey for both of them had my heart aching!! It’s one of those books that deeply impact you emotionally.
god I love this series and peyton’s writing. I saw someone describe this series as off campus meets boys of tommen and I couldn’t agree more. HIGHLY recommend!

This is one of those stories where he and she are so different yet so much the same. Unloved shares the story of Matt an Ro as they navigate college lift and find the special way to support each other in a way that shows each how important they are, all while finding their own confidence and being the best they can be.

“I think you'd be really easy to love.”
I absolutely loved Unsteady and was super excited to continue this series with Unloved. This story follows Ro and Freddy/Matty and follows their story following the same timeline as Unsteady. Though they meet at a party freshman year, it's not until Freddy who struggles with academics due to his dyslexia begins to get tutored by Ro that their friendship and connection starts to grow. Through many barriers including Ro's horrible on again off again boyfriend Tyler, Freddy and Ro's slowly builds their friendship to lovers in the sweetest ways possible.
Both Ro and Freddy are so lovable as characters and they go through some tough things in this book. Peyton Corinne makes you fall in love with her characters and you truly feel and root for them. This book is a slow burn but it never felt like it dragged. I wish Ro and Sadie's friendship was a bit more balanced but overall I greatly enjoyed this book. Peyton Corinne is quickly becoming one of my must read authors!
Read this if you like:
* found family
* Dual POV

Thank you to Peyton Corrine, Atria Books, and Netgalley for gifting me this wonderful ARC in exchange for an honest review!
4.5 rounded to 5 cause I love her character writing

I had such a fun time reading this book! Just like the title says, it is a love story between two individuals who feel Unloved (or rather not being able to be loved unconditionally due to their experiences with being with others.
Ro, was the sweetest FMC and I loved that she did so much to make others feel loved, especially when it comes to Freddy who has learning difficulties. Freddy, while being your standard hockey player with a playboy reputation, was also adorable with Ro. His back story tugged at my heart strings and it made me so sad that he found it hard to navigate the world, and how people treated him because of it. I love that he managed to find ways to work through whatever he was facing with the help of Ro. The act that she went out of her way to research how to help Freddy made this book for me.
This is definitely one for those who love the hockey player x tutor trope as well as the friends to lovers trope.

2.5/5
ngl this book didnt really move me as deeply as I had hoped, it started off rly strong and had sm potential n then just fell flat for me, about 60% of this book revolved around tyler's annoying ass (ro’s on and off bf) and it was just frustrating, it felt like the narrative was stagnating, and something was lacking. while ro and matt were so cute together, i dont think the book did them justice they deserved so much more
thank you netgalley for this arc!
