I do not even know where to begin. I did not read Unsteady, so I had no idea what to expect. I was so surprised and happy. I finished this book in two days. Ro and Matt, make you want to cry and cheer all at the same time. Matt, has been through so much and I think he was a great representation of Male feelings and what can happen to guys as well. His intrusive thoughts were also amazing to see as I think that representation is so important. Ro, is all of us she wants to be accepted and loved. She was in an abusive relationship and I love how it was portrayed. She was able to be herself with Matt, and rediscover that it is ok to be herself. I hope we see more about the Hockey House guys and their, ladies because I know I want more.

I tell people all the time that Unsteady and (now) Unloved are not your typical hockey romances. Yes, they have hockey, but Peyton also uses so many important topics in her writing as well. I was 17% in and already crying knowing why Matt was struggling so much with being a “sex symbol.” As a social worker I could see all the potential warning signs of being groomed and having an inappropriate relationship with a teacher. I loved how Ro helped him understand that about himself and I loved how Matt compensated by openly communicating. Ugh this was just so beautiful I loved it.

This book has altered my contemporary reading chemistry! The MCs are far more relatable and realistic that I felt at times I was reliving my own college experience!
Matt “Freddy” struggles with school like so many of us but yet he is still street smart and has a hell of a hockey career ahead of him.
Ro Sharriff is far to similar to myself! Hopeless “ripped bodice” romantic. Never wants to burden her parents or friends considering how much is on their own plate. Always a people pleaser….until one day you just POP!

The two of them finding one another and so authentically building their friendship and more was a absolute pleasure to read! Its hard to explain in words, I just feel good.

Matt is also hot and sexy so that helps too… lol
My only critic is I would have liked to see some repercussion for Carmen and Tyler.

Wow. Wow. Wow. When I tell you I’m obsessed with this book!!! This is not your average hockey romance. We follow Ro the inexperienced FMC and Matt “Freddy” the hockey player MMC. The topics in this book surrounding learning disabilities is done so well and written in a way where you truly understand the struggle that Matt has to live with everyday. There were so many moments that I just wished I could reach in and hug Matty. The two main characters balance out each other so well and I thought their story of finding safety in each other was written so well. You do not have to read the first book Unsteady but I highly recommend you do because this follows the same timeline but just difference characters. But also the first one was just as amazing! Thank you for letting me read this!

What a soft, sweet, TENDER romance <333 Friends to lovers is my favorite and Unloved did not disappoint.

Ro and Matty start as strangers before they become tutor x student then close friends. Throughout it all they are deeply aware of one another and their relationship truly embodies that quote: "the intimacy of being understood" from anticipating each others needs to knowing each others coffee orders. Their protectiveness of one another is precious and shines throughout the book in big and small ways. It was beautiful to see this care and protectiveness to extend throughout the whole friend group Peyton has created in The Undone series.

I deeply appreciated the dialogue on mental health and learning differences (ADHD; dyslexia; dyscalculia) including the ways we (+ the education system) often fail those who can thrive with support and appropriate accommodations. In both books in this series (Unsteady & Unloved), the author confronts the ways we speak about people who are sexually active and affirms there should not be shame or guilt in having a healthy, active sex life!

I was just as entranced by the side characters and am EAGERLY awaiting future books in this series (Toren!! Benett!!!!). I can't think of a character that didn't pull at my heart strings (especially Matty's mom & Archer my god) or make me so incredibly angry (Tyler & Professor Tinely).

10/10 recommend and already anticipate being in a reading slump after how darn delightful this book was to read!

This book was amazing!! I loved the first book in this series with Rhys and Sadie and did not have an ARC. I really enjoyed the way all of the conflicts between Ro and Freddy were resolved by talking through the issues. They were able to work thru there issues and figure out what works for them as a couple. It was a beautiful slow burn palette cleanser and i will be reading it again and again.

Thank you to Atria Books for the ARC

Okay, so first and foremost thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this ARC. So I thought I loved Sadie and Rhys and I really really did. However, my love for Ro and Matt goes beyond physical comprehension. The emotional abuse that Ro suffered in her relationship was hard to observe but so so so necessary and it was realistic. These things happen everyday to beautiful caring wonderful women. Matt was a man so in touch with his feelings and never feeling like he could be loved for exactly as he was. The title “unloved” speaks perfectly to how both of our main characters felt until they fell in love with each other. I was filled with joy watching their friendship blossom into this beautiful healthy love story. 5 stars everyday of the week baby. When this book comes out on February 4th, run to wherever this is being sold and get a copy and buy a pack of tissues on your way.

Peyton Corinne knocked it OUT OF THE PARK with her sequel Unloved! This book pulled so many emotions out of me, as evident by me crying and laughing multiple times while reading. 😭🥹
The tenderness and care that went into the story and characters is obvious from page one, and I was hooked in to one of the sweetest love stories I’ve read in a while. The thing I love especially about Peyton’s writing is the mental health representation and complexity of the issues. In Unloved, we see topics like grief and loss of a parent, narcissistic relationships, abuse of power. This could feel overwhelming, but she handles it with such delicacy and grace that it interweaves itself into the storyline seamlessly.
I lovvvved Unsteady so much and it had become my number one hockey romance recommendation, and I’m so excited I have a follow-up now! 💚💚💚
I cannot wait to see more of what Peyton decides to do in the future. If she doesn’t have any more readers, it’s because I’m dead.

Thank you for the arc!

All I can say is Matty 🥹🦋

Just the feels through out this whole book. Want to go in and just hug both of them. Peyton just pulls on all the emotions 🦋🦋🦋

“I think you’d be really easy to love”

And can’t forget the little glimpses of Bennett and Mr Toren Kane 🖤 🖤

Peyton you’ve done it again… congratulations on another beautiful book 🩵

**received an ARC through NetGalley.

I read Unsteady and was super excited to read Unloved for Ro + Freddy. I was super intrigued by Freddy and felt like there was more to the story than his playboy persona. We saw parts of it in Unsteady but really dove into it in Unloved.

My heart hurt for Ro + Freddy for what they have been through but loved that they were able to connect to each other and work through it. They are both so tenderhearted and feel so much and really bring out the best in each other. I loved that they were working through their hurt and heartache together.

I loved loved loved how protective they were of each other and defended each other. This book will make you super frustrated at everyone who treated them so poorly. There are moments where you'll want to scream at the people who are so mean to them because they are both so soft + sweet.

I would say this isn't a super spicy book but shows love through really tender and soft moments.

Things i loved:
-ADHD/dyscalculia/dyslexia rep
-women in STEM rep
-soft boy

Thank you so much for the ARC NetGalley + Artia!!!

Yes, I just got this ARC yesterday. And yes, I have already finished it because I have no self control 😇

Freddy and Ro are two of my new favorite romance characters. They both feel like people you know and could be friends with irl, and they are honestly so easy to love 🥲 (iykyk but also truth) I haven’t read a romance quite like this one in awhile. One where the characters are both so different yet so similar in the ways that matter. One where the romance is so deeply rooted in friendship and understanding of one another. there’s no third act break up!!!! there’s just a beautiful steady friendship that blossoms into more, where you get to watch two people with the biggest hearts navigate past hurt/trauma and learn how to be loved 🥹

As an engineer who loves romance books, frilly bows & all the girly things, my heart FELT for Ro 😭 There are so many qualities in her that felt relatable and made me cheer so hard for her & want to protect her from the world (plz don’t even get me started on how I felt about Tyler because I was ready to throw hands 🫠)

AND FREDDY (MATT🥲) Y’ALL. He is the very definition of “if he wanted to, he would.” There were so many little moments through out the book where he showed up for Ro/proved how well he knew her & it went both ways 😭 Ro continually saw Freddy for who he actually was & spoke so much truth and love to him. (Which I also want to protect him from the world & loved the ending for him 😭) They both treated each other with such care!! And I loved it. I feel like this is one of those books I will be reading and re-reading. (I will probably be updating my review with new thoughts as they come 😭❤️)

Please go pre-order this book because February 4th I am going to want to talk about this with literally everyone!!! 🫶🏻

Thank you @peytoncorinneauthor and @atriabooks for this advanced reader copy of Unloved. I am so grateful to have had the chance to read this book!

“I think you’d be really easy to love”.

Did I read this book in one day and not put it down? YOU BET. What can I say about Unloved? It’s cotton candy skies, rainbow unicorns, and Care Bears. When Matt and Ro are together, the Undone Book Universe just flows better.

Sometimes, book titles have a way of encapsulating the journeys characters go through in the course of a book. Unloved can quite literally be about feeling ‘unloved’, but in this? It’s about self-love, accepting love from those around you (the most beautiful subplot I’ve read in a while, everyone be prepared to meet Archer), learning that love can help heal, finally, how love can be twisted against someone (storylines that will enrage you at certain characters, whew, I can write an essay on that). Plus Ro being a lead romance character of colour? LOVE.

Unloved is about Freddy (also known as Matt) and Ro from book one in the series. Book One’s storyline does run parallel to this, but it’s not imperative to know about it to enjoy this book. It’s singular in its own way. Peyton really has a way of bringing energy to her characters but also writing such a strong character backstory. It’s good, it makes readers think, and it also imparts empathy. I know it’s something that will carry on in the rest of her books and I love it. Their chemistry is good, the prologue scene was so CUTE, and butterflies are all around. In a weird way, Ro's character mimics a butterfly, she slowly opens up and then evolves into a beautiful character.

Now, onto some serious things. The worst characters in romance history go to Tyler and Professor Tinely. Both of them are characters that break the self-esteem of our leads (Ro and Freddy help boost each other up, and it’s adorable). Tyler and Tinley are manipulative, emotionally abusive, and lean on positions of power to embolden their actions. Despicable, and the worst people imaginable. Like damn, Peyton really wrote these horrible people that are like dirt (girl we still love you!). Sit through reading their scenes, because while they suck you’ll eventually see their comeuppance.

Finally, Peyton sprinkles some wonderful hints for possible future books as we learn more about characters in the Hockey House universe. I, for one, am intrigued by Toren (I know that book is going to be INSANE). The group dynamics are damn good. I can’t wait for Book Three. Thank you SO MUCH Atria Books. This is a 5-star read, and I’m sad I have to wait so long for the next one.

I loooooove a great hockey romance. This was cute. Love the realistic characters and hockey players. Author must be a midwesterner with her accuracy.

I knew this one was going to wreck me!!! And I was right! It did (:

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Boy howdy does Peyton write yearning. This continuous, simmering undercurrent of desperate need to be needed is such a constant that you grow as used to it as Freddy and Ro. They both give everything they think they have - Freddy his body, Ro her mind - to try and keep themselves attached to the people around them. And it isn’t until you’re in the thick of their friendship that you realize that hum of need is muted because they’re no longer searching for it in each other.

Watching cool, calm, collected Freddy stutter and blush (and flash his thigh tattoo in his hoochie daddy shorts) at any focused attention he gets from Ro was PRICELESS. And seeing Ro gain confidence from how entirely nonjudgmental and warm Freddy was toward her even at her worst moments was an absolute delight. Add the contrast between their dynamics with their families that gives a visible and sharp comparison - that you can sometimes seem to have all the support you could need and still be faltering just as badly as someone without it - and they’re so perfectly unbalanced that they balance each other perfectly.

But most importantly, they show each other that the people that truly love you will never have to be begged to do so - they’ll just love you because they do, and because you deserve it.

The relationship between the characters was beautiful and so gentle, which is something I loved in the first book as well, although the pace and development of their feelings and affection sometimes was a bit too unrealistic it is not something that affect the rating since it is fiction, and frankly, it’s sad that it requieres so much suspension of disbelief; I wish people were like Matt and Ro in real life. Their softness was touching and I just wanted them to express themselves without fear and without letting their insecurities get in the way. My issues are also similar with those I had with the first book. The “bad guys” like the ex-boyfriend and his friends are cartoonishly evil, and in the end there was no justice for the way they treated Matt for his learning differences, or for their professor’s actions. At least reporting her officially would have been the right move in my opinion. The way this “villains” so to speak, are dealt with was anticlimactic, including his dad, they are this big issue throughout the whole book and then things get solved almost too easily. Something that frustrated me at times was that it seemed sometimes like they couldn’t catch a break, but it wasn’t as convoluted as with Unsteady where everything that could have gone, wrong went wrong. The issues between Matt and his friends were introduced in maybe his first chapter and then barely discussed again until the third act, and again, ended up being a nonissue. Although it served as another way to show Matt’s feelings of inadequacy, some things should have either been fleshed out more or simply left out of the story altogether, like the single mention of his high school teacher is something problematic and serious that was never discussed. The same thing occurred with Ro and Sadie’s friendship, where we know how Ro insecure sometimes feels in regards to their relationship and it seems like an additional conflict but then it’s hardly addressed. Some characters that were introduced seemed either irrelevant or redundant, like Mark, Mitch, Brandon, Walker… although maybe they will be part of the larger narrative of the series. The epilogue was not bad but a bit cliché, would have love to see something more distinctive or unique to the couple, and maybe seeing their college graduation, which was so significant to Matt, and seeing both his and Ari’s career flourishing, especially her research after graduation that was also an important part of her character arc.

I read Unsteady on a whim when it came out and quickly fell in love with every part of it so when Unloved was announced “excited” wouldn’t even begin to describe my feelings towards it. I’ll start by saying I absolutely loved it. How relatable Ro and Matt were, their complicated relationships with their parents, the loneliness they both felt so deeply, I absorbed it all. They had this quiet steady love to them where they felt so much for each other and showed it through little things and gentle encouragement. I love how the loneliness was written and how it was different for both of them yet they felt it just the same. My heart broke and healed through the pages. They healed with each other and found someone to lean on it was just so wholesome. At one point I felt like each of them (Ro and Matty) were talking/thinking of other characters too much (not like specific incidents but just in general) and I just wanted more of them but then I realized that THAT is who they are, they think of and help others without any expectations and it really shows. I’m so happy they have each other to think of and lean on now. They also just had so much respect for each other as people not just a sexual attraction. It was who they were as people that led them to have such an amazing connection. Also I ate up the crumbs of Bennett and Paloma like I literally daydream about them I can’t wait for their book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Simon & Schuster and Peyton Corinne for this ARC!

This book is an emotional whirlwind. Matt (Freddy) and Ro go through a journey of grief and love. It is a story about meeting people where they are at and showing up for each other. Ro is a relatable FMC for anyone who has struggled in a relationship where they were unappreciated and spoken down to

Matt is a star hockey player who struggles with his academics. In comes Ro, his tutor, who is stuck in a toxic on and off again situationship. Together they work through his academic problems and both of their emotional journeys. There are hard topics addressed thoughtfully and I really enjoyed their love story. 4⭐️

i got the pleasure of reading this book early with netgalley, and in no way shape or form did this disappoint!!! i devoured it in one day i was so excited. it takes place during the same time as unsteady, except now we get to follow ro and freddy🥹. and the amount of audible "awww baby" moments that i had during this book concerned me and everyone around me. the way they both slowly open up to each other and let down their walls was incredible and written beautifully. it was such a joy getting to follow more characters from the undone series, and i cant wait for bennet and toren's stories ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

These two were very cute and absolutely worth the wait! My only issue is that the ending felt a bit rushed.
