Sooo happy I got this arc!!! I started and couldn’t stop reading - riding the high of a good romance binge 🙂↕️ very much a slow burn and angsty. I teared up a few times 🥺 ~to be loved is to be seen~ that line is sticking with me 😂
I did find myself getting confused during some parts because I couldn’t remember the timeline of the first book or remember what was happening between Sadie and Rhys and with Bennett? But overall really enjoyed this and I am invested in the friend group now ❤️
And like my review for unsteady, I can’t wait for Toren’s book cuz I need to know more about him !!!
I think this just might be a 5/5!!
I'm pretty sure I gave the first book in this series (of interconnected standalones) 4.5/5, so I had such high hopes for this one. And I am so glad it lived up to those high hopes.
I did not want to put this book down!
The moral of this book: dump your idiot turd of a boyfriend/situationship. Never hesitate to dump your idiot turd of a boyfriend/situationship. Tyler was a turd and I hate him. But Freddy is great. Love him. An icon.
I had so much fun with this book, I didn't want to put it down. I loved Ro and liked how different she felt from a lot of female main characters in books I've read lately. She really did feel like a real person.
And I really appreciate how Peyton Corrine makes her characters so real. In the previous book, there was anxiety and PTSD representation and this book continues with that. These characters aren't perfect, they have dyslexia and terrible relationships and trauma, and that makes them relatable and understandable.
I highly recommend this book (and this series) and I cannot wait for the next one!
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! My Goodreads review is out now and my TikTok (Zoe_Lipman) review will be out a the end of the month with my monthly reading wrap-up.
This book is a study in patience and pure love. A slooow burn that had me both crying and grinning from ear to ear in equal measure.
Unloved felt quite different from Unsteady but they truly compliment each other (not unlike the friendships reflected between the primary characters in each book 😊).
What I love most about Peyton Corrine’s writing is that she takes these challenging and nuanced topics like self worth and grief and treats them with such care that, as a reader, it’s hard not to fall head first and feel like you’re experiencing everything along side the characters. Everything is so well fleshed out and paced perfectly that I was eager for each step forward but never felt rushed. Freddy and Ro are so gentle with each other in the most heart breaking and yet charming way. I love them and I love this book. The passion is much more subtle and while I sometimes found myself wanting to absolutely rage on behalf of both Ro and Freddy, the book at its core is really quite soft and tender and sad. The accompanying playlist does a really nice job of reinforcing those feelings. I was often reminded of Perks of Being a Wallflower and the popular quote “we accept the love we think we deserve” (both in regards to the main characters and side characters).
The Undone series is likely to ruin me by the end of it, and I can't wait to keep reading!
At this point Peyton Corinne is an autobuy! She has yet to fail when it comes to writing a book I love. She knows how to write the best FMC and the hottest MMC. Can’t wait to see what else she has to offer with her writing.
What a soft, sweet, TENDER romance. Friends to lovers is my favorite and this book did not disappoint.
I deeply appreciated the dialogue on mental health and learning differences (ADHD; dyslexia; dyscalculia) including the ways we (+ the education system) often fail those who can thrive with support and appropriate accommodations. In both books in this series (Unsteady & Unloved), the author confronts the ways we speak about people who are sexually active and affirms there should not be shame or guilt in having a healthy, active sex life!
I was just as entranced by the side characters and am EAGERLY awaiting future books in this series (Toren!! Benett!!!!). I can't think of a character that didn't pull at my heart strings (especially Matty's mom & Archer my god) or make me so incredibly angry (Tyler & Professor Tinely).
10/10 recommend and already anticipate being in a reading slump after how darn delightful this book was to read!
I was lucky enough to meet Peyton Corinne at my local Barnes & Noble “Spicy Saturday” event. I had never read anything by her but I was excited to give her books a try. I’m a sucker for a good hockey romance. I devoured the first book “Unsteady” in less then 48hours. When I found out the next book in the series “Unloved” was Freddy & Ro’s story I knew I had to have it. And thankfully the ARC gods at NetGalley & Atria publishing granted them. “Unloved” did not disappoint, I loved this book from start to finish and I can’t wait to continue with this series.
Small disclaimer I saw a couple people saying they didn’t read “Unsteady” before reading “Unloved”. I honestly think that’s a mistake and I highly recommend reading “Unsteady” first because both books events are happening at the same time. And several key moments in both stories overlap. So if you didn’t read book one I think there may be some confusion. Also for those BookTok people looking for spicy from start to finish this is also not for you. “Unloved” is a tender slow burn romance. For these characters relationship it’s truly about the journey more than the destination.
Anyway back to my review. I loved the characters in this book. Especially our leads Freddy & Ro. My heart absolutely hurts for them and what they’ve both endured. There were several moments I wanted to scream at Ro for not having more backbone. However, even with that said I know women who are in Ro’s exact situation it’s not that easy to do exactly that. Instead watching two tender hearted protective people come together made it all worth it.
Overall, I highly recommend “Unsteady” & “Unloved”. I can’t wait to own a physical copy of this for my shelf when it releases next February. Also big Thank you again to NetGalley & Atria for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.

*› I ended up liking this quite a bit better than unsteady, but it still wasn't my favorite?? I loved all the moments of them together and it was so cute to read about!!
I was kinda disappointed because they didn't get together until maybe 70% in??..and she was with her
'ex' for a good amount of the book lol.

overall thoughts +i:
i did like this but some moments I was getting bored, and I wish we got more moments of her tutoring him
• !! | would probably recommend this if you want a quick cute read.

ARC in exchange for an honest review*
.....
I didn’t know it was possible but I think this one might have knocked unsteady down from my favorite of the series. one thing I love about peyton’s books is that the fmc and mmc are so similar, they always mirror each other and I think it helps guide them through the hurdles they encounter. there’s never any miscommunication, they work like a well oiled machine. slow burn at its finest!! 70% in before a first date and I’m on the edge of my seat!! matty and ro practically took care of each other throughout the book, they had each others backs, and they were so gentle with each other. I think this book perfectly encapsulates what a soulmate is like. thank you NetGalley for the arc, I cannot wait for the release day!
Five f***ing stars for this one 😭😭😭😭
I was floored last year when I first read Unsteady in its indie version, and I honestly haven't stopped thinking about Sadie and Rhys since, so obviously reading parts of their story from Ro and Matt's point of view has been like coming full circle 💞
This story has meant so much to me...I really think there can't be anything better out there than Matt Fredderic.....I'm afraid my standards have now reached impossible heights. His vulnerability and need to love and be loved have been like putting a warm blanket on me and at the same time like sticking a knife in my heart 😭🥹 I need to protect him at all costs.
Ro is the most selfless and caring person and the two of them go on an incredible journey through love and grief ....learning how they want and deserve to be treated, and how to handle the other person's feelings with care.
Thank you so much Peyton for writing these characters...they are going to stay with me for a long time.
Plus....the crumbs they leave over the next stories are really something else😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌😌.
Thank you so much Atria Books and NetGalley for the ARC!!!!
Thank you Netgalley for this one!
ANOTHER fantastic book from Peyton Corrine! I absolutely LOVED unsteady and her authentic take on mental health in athletes, and she really stepped it up again with Unloved.
Matty (“Freddy”) was such a lovable character! The way he was written was beautiful and the reader couldn’t help but feel everything alongside him. If you didn’t feel a shred of empathy and compassion for this guy, I worry about your heart and well-being because Jesus…I just wanted to jump in and give this guy a big bear hug and never let him go (…not even for Ro. 😉)
Rosalie was another beautifully written character! She is the complete opposite of Sadie and I think that’s what makes their friendship so authentic. While Sadie was closed off a lot, Rosalie just knew what her friend was needing from her, and never pushed her for more; which allowed for Sadie to be more “soft” around her and for Rosalie to grow into her assertiveness. Tyler didn’t get near the ass beating he deserved, but I’m just happy with how Rosalie grew into herself and let him have it.
Overall this was such a beautiful read and follow up from Unsteady! While yes, there’s spice in this “hockey romance,” the mental health, healthy boundaries and relationships, and the growth in self-confidence and self-worth took center stage; which I loved.
Highly recommend!
If you’ve ever seen my Goodreads review of Unsteady, it simply says “this is my favorite hockey book ever”. So needless to say, I had high expectations for Unloved, but was also nervous because h o w was Peyton going to follow a perfect book?
Turns out I was worried for absolutely nothing because Unloved is brilliant. It’s a story of two people begging to be seen and to be loved for who they are as they put on an act for the world. The feelings Ro and Freddy had - for each other, for everything life threw at them - were so real and so well written that it felt like I was going through it with them. Add in all the Sadie and Rhys cameos (SO many), the snippets of Bennet and Kane (I N E E D their books omg)- this book was everything I hoped for and more.
And Peyton even did the impossible- I found myself falling for a blond man!!! Matt Fredderic , the man that you are!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you to NetGalley and atria books for the advanced copy and for not making me wait until February to read this book!!!!
There's something in Peyton Corinne's writing that lures you in and never lets go. Not us thinking it'll be hard to top her debut book: Unsteady. Darling, it's Peyton Corinne. Never ever doubt her <3
Thankyou Artia books and netgalley for the arc. All opinions are my own!
#Unloved #Netgalley
I wish I could erase this book from my memory only so I can read it again and again.
Peyton Corrine did it again! I thought it would be so hard to top her debut book “Unsteady” but this book exceeded all my expectations. The way she wrote about grief, love, and self love was so beautiful and detrimental to these characters. I will be thinking of Matt and Ro for a long time!
Truly, one of the best series! I cannot wait for the next book and the next insanely good playlist she includes in all her books!
Freddy is the star left winger and destined for the NHL. But he's struggling in classes due to dyslexia and dyscalculia and ADHD. Ro is his new tutor who is unlucky in love....
Terrific romance. It starts out slow but the pining was so terrific. Love all the relationships in this book. Really enjoy it. Love how this overlap with the other book in the series too...
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
EMOTIONAL DEPTH we love to see it!!!
brothers they fud not get it on til like 80% through…that’s how you KNOW they fell in real genuine love first lemme tell you!
i loved them both as individual people, and seeing as this follows the same timeline of unsteady instead of continuing it, i loved how it felt more behind-the-scenes from the tidbits we saw in unsteady
they are so stinking precious and also they delivered on the angst HELLO
"Can you see me? Can you feel how lonely I am? Are you lonely, too?"
This book had me in the trenches of my feelings. Made my stomach hurt and brought tears to my eyes more than once. I loved every second of it.
Ro, with her bows and Taylor Swift friendship bracelets, and Matty, the softest boy who ever lived. I'm going to be thinking about them for a very long time.
If you want a love story that's soft and slow, but powerful and overwhelming, this one's for you. Peyton Corinne has outdone herself. I can't wait for the next one!
Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC 🫶🏼
I have never been SO happy to receive an ARC in my life. I loved Unsteady, have read it multiple times within this last year, so I was over the moon to hear it was a series. This book was amazing. I devoured it in less than 24 hours. I am obsessed with Ro and Freddy, they have my whole heart. This book was so beautifully done. It captures raw, vulnerable feelings about grief, college life, toxic relationships, and finding your found family. I will gladly read anything Peyton Corinne writes, and I cannot wait for more in this series!! Easily 5 stars.
This book was so SWEET. The two main characters seemed so well thought out and felt so real to me, especially when it came to mental health and Freddy’s learning disabilities.
Also, this book is so The Archer by Taylor Swift coded! 🥺🫶🏼
A heads up: I was lucky enough to get approved for an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That said, all thoughts and opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
“I think you’d be really easy to love”
Okay, let me just say that I got this book when I needed it the most. I was seriously excited about Ro and Freddy’s story after catching little glimpses of them in Unsteady, and their story didn’t disappoint.
We got Freddy, the charming star hockey player that seems larger than life, but underneath that confident exterior, he's dealing with feelings of abandonment and thinking he's not worthy of love. And then there’s Ro, sweet and loyal Ro, who's been made to feel so ashamed and insecure.
Their interactions, their chemistry and how they support each other it's everything. Freddy wants to shield Ro from his reputation, all while showing her that she deserves real genuine love. And Ro? She is constantly encouraging Freddy to see his worth. You can really feel their emotional connection, and Corinne does an amazing job exploring themes like self-acceptance and vulnerability. At its core, their story is of two people battling their own insecurities, finding comfort and support in each other and their friends and family. These characters feel incredibly real.
Tropes you’ll love:
💚 college hockey romance
💚 tutor x athlete
💚 friends to lovers
💚 found family
💚 learning differences rep
Overall rating 4 ⭐️

I feel like this book is perfect if you enjoyed Daydream by Hannah Grace. It’s got the perfect mix of fun and feels that makes it super hard to put down. Seriously, if you're in a reading slump, this is exactly what you need! It also has very similar vibes to Collide by Bal Khabra and Offside by Avery Keelan. So if you enjoyed any of those, you’ll want to add this one to your TBR.
Huge congrats to Peyton. I absolutely loved Ro and Freddy's story and can’t believe how long I’ll have to wait for the next one (I have a good idea of who’s next, and I’m super intrigued to read their story). Thanks to Atria Books for the eARC and this opportunity —this is my first ARC, and I truly appreciate it! Unloved comes out on Feb 4. Be sure to pre-order so you don’t miss out on Ro and Matty’s journey! 📚🏒💚
Before I begin, thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the eARC!
Ok, now that that is taken care of....HOLY MOTHER OF BALLS. I-... I... I am speechless. I think I cried more throughout this book for Matt aka Freddy aka Matty than I have any other mmc. He is just too pure for this world 🥺
Let's start at the beginning, shall we? Ro (aka Rosalie) is hands down amazing. The way Peyton wrote her in the first book had me dying to know more, and boy did we get the good stuff. Ro is in a pretty (really) toxic relationship. Like imagine the worst ex you've had, and then probably double that. While he wasn't physically harmful to her, the mental games he played with her were awful. As much as this sucked for her, it made a super realistic story line. However, this doesn't mean that she doesn't have a backbone...because she so does. As her relationship with Freddy furthers, she becomes more confident in herself, and is able to understand Freddy better as well.
Now, Matty (Freddy, Matt, whatever you want to call him), is SO GOOD. Like, I'm not talking bedroom words (although those are top tier as well), but his demons are real. He puts off this playboy exterior, but he is really just lost on the inside. Like Ro, he's been used and manipulated. I honestly cried so much during the chapters with his pov because the flashbacks were so hard to imagine. I just want to wrap this man in a huge hug, put him in my front pocket, and never let him go.
This truly was one of the best books I have read this year, and I don't mean that lightly. I could read this book 20 more times and still feel the same way. Now, when do we get Bennett Reiner and Paloma's book Ms. Peyton??????
