This book was so so sweet, I loved the characters and the story, this was a perfect follow up to unsteady.

The epilogue was a little bit too rushed but overall this book was so fun!!

I read Unsteady last year when it came up in my KU suggested thinking it was just a fun hockey romance. Jokes on me as it was one of the most emotionally deep sports romances I’d read in a long time. While not required to read Unloved, I think you should as Ro and Matt’s story is happening at the same time as Rhys and Sadie’s. You’ll get a much richer reading experience.
I knew what I signed up with Peyton’s writing. Doesn’t mean this book did slap me right in the big girl emotions in the most heartbreaking and beautiful ways. And I would absolutely do it again because this story was beautiful. Ro and Matt aka Freddy are perfect for one another but neither one knows how to accept it. They both have some significant traumas in their pasts and presents. Freddy broke my heart over and over. How he’s coped with his traumas is utterly heartbreaking and all you want to do is hug him and tell him he is enough. However, despite his difficultly loving himself, this man loves and protects his girl. Our girl Ro has been so mistreated by her ex, it has done a serious number in her. She’s academically brilliant but a little lost. She’s also a true romantic at heart core and I absolutely loved how she finally got to experience that kind of passion from Freddy. All that said, when they finally accept one another, it’s beautiful. I actually “OMG FINALLY!” out loud I was so happy. Their story is a stunning depiction of finding hope and love even in the deepest parts of griefs in all its forms. Their deep emotional connection and battle for one another made this HEA 1000% worth it.
-You should be aware: This is a slow burn. If get frustrated by the “why can’t they just communicate” troupe, you will be frustrated with this.
Big warning: if you have ANY issues with narcissistic behaviors, partners who gaslight, and are verbally/mentally abusive, you may need to reconsider as Ro’s ex is all of those things.

UM HELLO. This book is spectacular, magnificent, incredible, and just all out fucking amazing. An emotional story from start to finish my eyes were wet practically the whole time. I love Ro and Freddy so much and I want to be them and be with them and be there friends HOLY SHIT. Peyton Corinne is on another level truly. I’m gonna reread this immediately now👍

Emotional and tender, it's clear that Corinne has laid her heart on the line in this book. For anyone who has ever left a relationship worse for the wear and had to learn to love again, this one's for you.

🙏 Thank you to Atria Books, NetGalley and the author for an advanced copy of Unloved. All opinions are my own.

🎯 What I loved: Most of this book takes place concurrently with Unsteady, so parts of Unsteady that were happening in the background of Rhys and Sadie's story become more clear during this book and I love how the stories overlay with each other. Freddy and Ro's story built over time and if you're a sucker for a slow burn, this was a good one. They have an initial moment of connection in the prequel but the bulk of the content really takes place during their senior year in college and starts as a tutor/student relationship, develops into a friendship and then, slowly it becomes something more. Because of this, most of the tension in the story actually took place outside of the central relationship and the book was more about how Freddy and Ro grew together and combatted the external challenges they were facing which was really beautiful. They were both really tender souls with challenging past relationship traumas they were overcoming, so it was easy to root for them from page 1.

🙅‍♀️ What I didn't: I rarely say this but I think there were quite a few parts of this book that could have been cut. Some of the scenes felt drawn out of repetitive and weren't necessary to the overall plot. While I appreciate a good build up, I think this one took a little bit too long.

Read if you love:
*slow-burn
*tutor/student
*reformed rake
*both partners overcoming past relationship trauma
*dyslexia/dyscalculia representation

thank you to netgalley and atria books for this ARC, i feel lucky to have received it.

we have our MMC, freddy, who needs help passing his classes because he has discalculia, ADHD, and dyslexia and hasn't received support in the past. our FMC, ro, ends up being his tutor. the two of them met previously, but freddy doesn't remember it. both of them have some serious grief and trauma they're working through throughout the book.

this book hit me very hard. it was about grief, abusive/manipulative relationships, and learning how to accept love. both freddy and ro struggled so much with accepting that they were loved and that they were worth it - corrine did an incredible job of writing this. i felt their hurt in my chest.

I just finished Unloved by Peyton Corinne, and I’m so glad I picked it up for my first read of her work! This book is a powerful exploration of love, loss, and the journey to self-acceptance.

What I loved most about Unloved is how deeply it resonated with me. Peyton’s writing is raw and emotional, drawing you into the characters’ struggles and triumphs. The protagonist’s journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring, making it impossible to put the book down.

The themes of healing and finding one’s worth are beautifully woven throughout the story. I found myself reflecting on my own experiences as I followed the character’s path. Peyton has a unique ability to capture complex emotions in a way that feels incredibly authentic.

If you’re looking for a heartfelt read that will stay with you long after you’ve finished, I highly recommend Unloved! I can’t wait to explore more of Peyton Corinne’s work!

"I think you'd be easy to love."

It is so hard to put my thoughts all into this review because simply, it was an incredible journey that had me laughing, grinning, and crying. Ro and Freddy's individual journies throughout the book were raw, vulnurable, and difficult. Ro's journey with navigating college as someone looking for love and frienship and finding herself was very relatable and I loved how I got to see her POV as Sadie went through the events from Unsteady. She is loving and fierce and will fight for those she loved.

Matt Fredric (Freddy) was the character I was most excited about and omg did Peyton deliever! He is charming and funny, while also being so caring and protective of those he loves. I loved seeing his friendship with Rhys and how he will do anything for his friends. The details about his past were heartwrenching and I wanted to fight all the people responsible for hurting this man. We need more books that show more vulnurable sides of men because they become the strongest and most empowering.

Now Freddy and Ro together was...EPIC. Their friendship and care for each other from the beginning was precious and endearing. They would have conflict and struggles, but it never took away from how much they were willing to fight for each other. Figuratively and literally in some cases. This is also a slowwww burn which is my cup of tea. It felt realistic to them loving themselves to love each other.

Overall, this is one of my top books of the year that emphasized the importance of vulnurability and empowerment with relationships and to see how those who you love most love you intensely and fiercely.

And I need. SIMPLY NEED. THE NEXT BOOK. AND THE NEXT BOOK. Bennett's book has me so hyped and do not get me started on Torne Kane because I know Peyton is going to wreck us all with his book.

Thank you Peyron Corinne for an extrodinary book that tells the stories we love to read!

Starting off I love the cover it gives the perfect amount of art and insight into what the story is about. Also, Peyton made a playlist for Unloved with 57 SONGS!! 57! I have already streamed the songs and i’m OBSESSED.
Unloved follows Ro & Freddy. Innocent girl and playboy, or are they?? The characters in this story had such amazing emotional intelligence that it made me really connect with them in a whole new way. I was blown away with some of the quotes that were said and was FALLING head over heels for Freddy.

“i think loving you would be the greatest thing in my life.”
“i think falling in love with you would be easy.”
I MEAN COME ON?? SWOOOOON.

This was… fine. I was really excited about it and honestly I did enjoy it. I thought both Ro and Freddy were great characters and I loved the side characters as well. But it almost felt like something was missing.

Like literally. I felt like I was skipping chapters sometimes. The animosity between Freddy and Sadie disappeared within a chapter. That felt rushed.

But other things dragged. The romance between Freddy and Ro was so slow. They’d keep having these encounters and then say they were just friends. It took way too long for them to get together.

The representation of grief and bad relationships was really great. I thought it was depicted well and wasn’t over done.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and I’ll read more of this author’s work.

I didnt think it was possible to fall in love with anyone more then rhys and sadie & miss peyton proved me wrong. this has now surpassed so many books to be one of my favorite reads of the year. the dynamic of ro and freddy is something so special and well written and the growth and love between them was an amazing story to read. i definitely will be in a book hangover thinking about them always🥹🥹🥹

I adored this book! The follow up to Unsteady was as good as I expected it to be!

Get your tissues ready, because this is a deep one. Emotionally and developmentally for both characters! Ro and Freddy (Matty) get a second chance at connecting (Matty didn't know they had met before) - Ro was hesitant to be Freddy's tutor, but it was well worth it!

I don't want to give too much away, but I wanted to strangle Ro's ex-boyfriend from the moment he was introduced, but there needs to be a villain. Speaking of villains, I also detested Matty's dad. Ugh, could not understand why he was acting the way he did.

I hope there's more of this series coming, because I could devour another!!

Thank you again NetGalley for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

First, thank you NetGalley, Simon and Schuster & Peyton Corinne for the eARC.

This book did something to me. It made me mad to a point where I wanted to punch a wall, or someone's face... if you read the book, you know who I'm talking about. It made me swoon, because hm, well, MATTY. It made me sad, happy. I had tears in my eyes at some point.

I really loved Ro. She has a strength I admired through the whole book. She's so strong yet so fragile. Seeing her shine more and more and accept herself was the highlight of my read.

I went to bed at 2 a.m. because I just couldn't put the book down but at the same time, I wanted to make it last.

It was a bit slow in my opinion because I'm an impatient girl, but it made sense. You can feel the love between the two of them through the words.

5/5, definitely recommend.

Thoughts:
I—I need a moment. This book—it took me on an emotional ride. I’m not even sure how to express how it made me feel. First, Ro and Freddie deserve all the good things in the world and I will protect them from everything. Second, fuck Tyler, fuck Dr. Tinsley and fuck Freddie’s dad. I will fight these three if I ever see them. Okay, now let’s move on from that. When I first picked up this book, I thought to myself that it was going to be a quick and lighthearted read but I was soooo wrong. I mean, I read Unsteady and that one was also a heavy one for me but this one, the amount of times I had to set the book down and take a small break—Ro and Freddie’s story just broke my heart every time. The emotional rollercoaster that I went on was insane. I seriously thought this was an “inexperienced girl x playboy who teaches her things and does things on her bucket list” (and I know it’s my fault for not reading the plot)—oh boy was I wrong. From seeing how Ro navigated through her toxic relationship with Tyler with the help of Freddie; Freddie learning his self worth and rekindling his relationship with Archer and getting rid of his toxic father and how Freddie and Ro relearns how to love themselves—I almost cried (which is something I don’t do when it comes to books lol). I don’t think I have ever truly felt this way about a book (I know I’m not saying much lmao). I think this one might’ve altered my brain and I don’t think I’m going to be able to move on and or forget about it.

Thank you Peyton Corinne for writing this story 🫶 Once again, thank you to NetGalley for the e-arc!

Oh. My. Goodness. I DEVOURED this book. Read it in less than 24 hours.
When I tell you that this book was SO FREAKING PERFECT.
I already loved Rosalie and Matt from Unsteady, but to be able to get to see their phenomenal story and their unlikely meet cute. I love it so much.
Unloved was perfect. It made me laugh, squeal, cry, cry some more but it made me fall in love with those two cuties in so many ways.
I am so honored that I was able to get this book as an
ARC through NetGalley (after having Unsteady become my comfort book) Unloved is beautiful and absolutely a must read for everyone.
READ THIS SERIES. you will definitely not be disappointed.

Unsteady was one of my favorite books from 2023 so I was super excited to read Unloved. Just like Unsteady I was immediately hooked from the first chapter. I loved that it was in the same time frame as the first book. Normally that seems repetitive in a series but this was done so well that you forget about Sadie and Rhys until they were included in the chapter. Both main characters feel like they are not worthy of love for their own reasoning which makes them gravitate towards each other. It is through loving each other that they realize how unfairly they have been treated in life and refuse to ever live like that again. Definitely read this if you like sports romance, slow burn, tutor x student.

I adored this book! Ro and Freddy were beyond sweet. I just loved them so so much. Heads up, this is a slowwww burn which I love, but I know is not for everybody. I always like a good friends to lovers trope so I'm happy they started out as friends (even if they both wanted more). The emotions were really emoting lol. I cried, I laughed, I cried again. I was all over the place and it was fantastic!

I feel like the learning differences and mental health rep was done really well. As someone with ADHD, I understand the difficulties of navigating the education system. It is often only set up for one type of learner, which is quite unfortunate because, as Ro put it, "When offered the correct accommodations, he thrives." That really hit close to home.

There were a lot of breadcrumbs left for future books. I'm expecting the next one to be Bennett's and maybe (hopefully) eventually Kane's.

All in all, if you're a fan of hockey romance you should absolutely give this (and the first one) a try.

“𝘪 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦”

This book follows Ro, a hopeless romantic, and Freddy, a player on and off the ice, who are seniors at Waterfall University. Ro tutors Freddy, helping him navigate his academic struggles and save his NHL dreams. As their sessions turn into late-night conversations, a deep friendship and undeniable attraction develop. Ro wants to show Freddy his true worth beyond his reputation, while Freddy aims to protect Ro from his chaotic world. Together, they learn to love and accept each other, flaws and all.

This book did not disappoint at all. I’m so glad I read Unsteady before this; it gave lots of context even though the timeline is the same. I wasn’t expecting to love these characters this much; they are literally a part of me now. Unloved is definitely going to be a comfort read of mine.

This book was so emotional and raw; I felt deeply connected to Ro and Freddy, even if I didn’t exactly relate to them. They were the sweetest and purest people ever, and I want to hug them so badly. They are so full of love and care for those close to them.

The plot was really interesting, and this was a slow burn, but the wait was completely worth it. The angst in those moments and them defending each other while just being “friends” was literally everything.

The amount of tears shed during this book should be illegal; I was sobbing to the point I could hardly breathe. Thank you, Peyton, for writing the most soul-wrenching books. The characters are all so authentic and real; I could easily imagine them as real people. There weren’t any annoying characters, and all were super lovable.

I'd like to start off by requesting emotional compensation because yall... THIS HURT ME SO GOOD 🥺🥺

Matty and Ro are everything to me and more. I don't think I have felt this level of relatability in a long time with not one but both main characters like I have with these two.
Both these rays of sunshine are the biggest people pleasers and are willing to sacrifice their own happiness if it means the people around them are happy and ugh my poor heart just wants to pull these two dorks into the biggest hug ever.

Thank you again Atria and NetGalley for the e-arc I enjoyed every second of this book & then some ♡♡
