4.8 stars!!!!! Omg I feel like I just had my heart shredded into pieces but also healed and injected with love and joy. Peyton is incredible at describing the raw, vulnerable, real emotions and thoughts that consume Matt and Ro. My heart astronomically hurt for both of them. But they are the definition of soulmates and complement each other so perfectly. 🥹 I’m so glad she also brought to light toxic masculinity, power imbalances, and learning disabilities

Freddy and Ro's relationship instantly captures your heart and their relationship and the way they grow in each other's company is simply unmatched. Thank you to Atria and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

I really enjoyed this sequel to Unsteady, it portrays grief and healing really beautifully. Both Ro and Freddy have dealt with incredibly hard things and are able to be there for each other during the hard times, and then finally becoming more than just friends. Unloved also shows the struggles of someone navigating learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia, & adhd) while in college and I think that was really well done. The only thing I struggled with is that this book takes place during the same time frame as Unsteady, so there were parts that felt repetitive, but just getting a different persons perspective. Definitely worth the read though if you want an angsty, emotional book to shed a few tears while reading!

Unloved by Peyton Corinne, the second book in The Undone series, is a standalone, dual-POV romance set alongside the events of Unsteady.

It follows Ro, an academically driven girl stuck in an unhealthy relationship, and Freddy, a star hockey player hiding his grief and struggles with a learning disability behind a charming, carefree exterior. When Ro becomes Freddy’s tutor, she begins to see beyond his façade, discovering the tender, self-doubting boy beneath.

This book was absolutely adorable—it definitely had me feeling giddy and kicking my feet at times! It’s a crush-from-afar to friends-to-lovers story with impactful themes like grief, emotionally abusive parental relationships, toxic romance, mental health, learning disabilities, and navigating college while wrestling with self-perception and societal labels.

Peyton skillfully combines all the elements I adore in a story: emotional depth, relatable insecurities, cute romance, and hockey. Fans of Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers vibes will find so much to love here. I also loved the clever easter eggs connecting this book to the first—Freddy’s shoelace detail might just be the cutest nod ever. I can’t wait to see how the storylines hinted at here unfold in the next book!

Thank you to Atria Books for the ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Ro is one of the sweetest and most selfless characters I’ve come across in a long time. She’s genuinely kind without expecting anything in return, which made her so endearing. She’s my empathetic girl through and through—emotional, yes, but I love her for it. Her obsession with ribbons? Adorable. I’m completely obsessed with her.

⤷Matt🏒
Matt is the first truly vulnerable male character I’ve read, and I loved every bit of him. He’s so nice, relatable, and just plain cute. The way he was consistently present for Ro throughout the entire book melted my heart.

Their progression from friends to lovers was beautifully done. The development felt natural and so healing to read. I loved how both main characters were written with such vulnerability—it added so much depth to their story.

However, I didn’t love their first meeting. It felt insignificant in the larger context of the book and didn’t really add much to their journey.

Honorable mention to Archer
What a man. He deserves every bit of goodness life can offer, and I hope he gets it!

A beautiful journey

I started this novel thinking it would be just another hockey romance, don’t get me wrong I love my hockey romances. Cute and fun and they leave me warm and happy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Unloved is so much more. It is truly a beautiful journey of love and healing and finding yourself and your own self worth.

The story’s main characters are real and deep and so relatable. Matt and Ro are both all too familiar with unhealthy relationships, whether with family or on a romantic level. Peyton does an amazing job showing just how much unhealthy relationships can twist a persons own internal voice and how damaging they can be to a persons self worth. At the same time she is showing that she highlights how much a healthy relationship can begin to heal the trauma of the unhealthy relationships.

I highly recommend this book. It is emotional and beautiful and fulfilling. It’s real and relatable.

A New Adult title, Unloved follows Ro and Matt (aka Freddy) through a dual point-of-view hockey romance. Ro, sheltered and sweet, meets Matt at a party when she’s 18 and shares a first kiss with him, then he vanishes from her sight. Years later, she is assigned tutoring duties over a troublesome and legendarily local Casanova, who turns out to be her former crush. She and Matt keep it friends only and help each other through similar traumas.

This slow burn novel is not what I expected! I really wasn’t expecting to identify with a New Adult novel about two kids in college, but the story was so well written and the characters so dynamic that I was sucked in from the beginning. Ro is a studious, family-first girl who is trapped in a terribly narcissistic relationship, and Matt is an all-star dyslexic hockey player sleeping his way through college. When the two come together, we get to experience first-hand how the right person can help you change and grow. It’s beautiful - the way Corinne writes a hockey romance laced with grief and trauma - she showcases honestly how one can get caught up in an abusive relationship and not know how to get out of it. Nothing about this book felt cheesy, or trope-y, it just felt like a well-told hockey romance/women’s lit book. 5 stars!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I loved this book; I could not put it down!!!!! This gives rom-com vibes in the best way; I'm talking about the heyday of romantic comedies (13 going on 30 being one of the best!). The chemistry, the banter, the writing!!! I will be reading everything Peyton Corinne writes from here on out, and you should, too!

Thank you Net Galley and Peyton Corrine for this ARC!!
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!! I relate so hard to Ro (Mirrorball girlies rise), being a people pleaser and having such high expectations for yourself is a challenge I share on the daily. Seeing Freddy fall head over heels for Ro was so so sweet, nothings better than a golden retriever boyfriend, but seeing his character development was even sweeter.
Freddy is viewed as a stereotypical playboy but what people DONT know is that he’s actually a lover boy😌 He’s never experienced being loved exactly for who he is, no strings attached or masks on. Ro, a certified lover girl, shares the feeling of never truly being seen and accepted. When they’re together, they both experience being truly SEEN, accepted, and loved. Ro and Freddy bring out the best in each other and it is so lovely to watch it all unfold. Not to mention, the playlist is absolutely fire.

"Unsteady" was one of my favorite books of last year, so receiving this arc was truly a dream come true. We follow our two main characters, Ro and Matty in a tutor- athlete romance. I never thought that any book boy could ever beat out Will from "Practice Makes Perfect" but here we are.
Maddie is the sweetest, kindest, most lovable broken boy and I think the love of my life. Reading his story was truly a gift, and not one that I'll be taking for granted. Reading his POV made my heart hurt, but watching him heal and seeing him experience true unconditional love was magical.
I see so much of myself in Ro and in her story. She is such a kind hearted, gentle person, that I couldn't help but love. Some of her actions truly made me *so* angry, to the point I almost dnfed the book. I wish that they dove a bit more into why she stayed with Tyler for so long and that we got to see her go to therapy, as what she experienced was true abuse and not something that will go away on its own.
There were a few plot holes that bugged me that I won't mention as this is a spoiler free review, but that you might notice.
Overall, I highly recommend this book, and "Unsteady" if you have yet to read it. They're both such heartbreakingly beautiful stories.
*Thank you to Peyton, her team, and Netgalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for a fair and honest review*

Even tho this took me a whole month to read (we hate a book slump), I absolutely love and adored these two so much!!!! 🥹🥹🥹 the way my heart broke multiple times for both of these characters, im still in tears thinking about their pasts. The epilogue was absolutely perfect imo. It was everything I needed it to be. I think I loved this one more than the first, even tho they are both amazing books. I cannot wait for our grumpy goalies or TK book to be next!!

4.25🌟
after reading Unsteady, i was so excited to read the next book in the series!! Matty is truly one of a kind and truly has such an amazing heart. Ro was sweet, understanding and loyal to those she called friends and loved. These two had such hard and kinda sucky life experiences with family sickness and to ex partners they had. The fact that Ro and Matty were able to trust each other and be there for one another was my favorite part. No one thought these two should be more than just tutor and student but how they were there for eachother and had each others backs i loved it so much!! The ending and epilogue made me cry!!! 🥹🤍

I knew from reading Unsteady that these two would be great. I was not expecting Freddy to literally shatter my heart though! His story was so full of trauma and just so sad.

The way he cared for Ro though, long before they ever got together- was perfection. Underneath all his heartbreak was such a genuinely good guy. They really healed each other throughout the whole book.

I’ve really enjoyed the first two books in this series and I’m excited to see where she takes it next.

That might have been one of my favourite books of the year 🥹

So unbelievably lucky to have read this arc and I am floored. I knew from Unsteady that Freddy was going to be another favourite character but I am just blown away with how much I loved this whole piece of work 💚

The Freddy/Ro love story was a beautifully and truly written reformed rake and friends to lovers masterpiece.

Could not have been more perfect. I loved this one SO much!!

First and foremost thank you to Peyton and NetGalley for the chance to read this arc!

The things I loved: Matt’s emotional journey. His recognition of the ways he coped with grief and faking it as a bandage to a much larger problem. Ro’s personal journey to find herself and stand up for herself. The depiction of manipulative relationships and abuses of power was so hard to read, but in a good way? It shows people they don’t have to listen to the villains and can walk away when they are ready.

Reading Rhys and Sadie and their journey again was a good refresher and I have a feeling Bennett and Paloma aren’t too far behind?

The things I didn’t love: the slight glossing over their first kiss, the drunken night in the pool, and the list. I thought these all could have added so much more fun to the story! I also found the emotional rollercoasters very close together sometimes … like we’d be good, just having worked through a tough spot and then BAM here’s another one.

ALL THE STARS! A L L OF THEM!
Wow, where do I even start? This book was just outstanding! I know I say this often in my reviews, but seriously, it was everything I could have asked for. And I have to admit, while I frequently find characters that resonate with me, Ro and Matty really hit the mark-especially Ro!
I totally relate to Ro's struggles. How often do we practice what we want to say, only to falter at the last minute? It's so relatable when she tries to stand up for herself, only to have those moments where people talk down to her or make her feel like she's the problem. It brought back so many feelings for me-just wanting to be heard without being labeled as too much or too loud. I felt like I was reading a piece of myself whenever I read her story!
And then there's Matty-oh my goodness! This sweet, golden retriever of a guy just stole my heart! I've never been so smitten!
My list of book boyfriends just keeps getting longer, and he tugged at every heartstring I have. I honestly wished I could jump into the book and give him the biggest hug ever! If only he were real!
What I really appreciated was how beautifully both characters mirrored each other. They had the same tendencies, but there were those subtle differences that made them unique. The way they supported each other through everything, ensuring the other always felt valued and loved, shows how committed they are to one another. It's a reminder that everyone faces struggles, but having someone in your corner makes all the difference. That's what we all crave at the end of the day, and they gave that to each other in spades.
Peyton has such a talent for making you fall in love with her characters while giving some you just love to hate. I really appreciated how detailed she was, not just with the plot but also with each character's backstory and personality.

4.5⭐️

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Unloved. Both of the main characters, Ro and Matt, have so much depth to them. Matt is known as a playboy - he gets around but all he wants is someone who wants/loves him back, someone who will stay. He comes off as very free and happy but behind the mask he is dealing with a lot of insecurities and feelings of unworthiness. Ro, on the other hand, has been in a toxic relationship and does not feel that she deserves more. I love that they both supported each other and were able to see past the mask that they both wore. You can tell that the author took a lot of care in addressing the hard topics that are present in this book.

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I finished this book last night and I still don’t know if I have the right words. This book was such a beautiful story. I loved Ro and Matt so much. This was exactly what I expect in a friends to lovers romance. It was perfection. Peyton really gave us a look at how some people deal with grief and hide it from the world by wearing a mask. But she also showcased how you can truly show your true self to someone and they will love you out loud and regardless of how others see you. I had tears streaming down my face because it was such a touching story. Her words are magic. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book early!

The most achingly honest, tender, raw, vulnerable, soft, and sweet romance story I have read in quite some time. I absolutely loved the representation it gave to people who manage ADHD, dyslexia, or dyscalculia. This book made me re-examine learning institutions and the educational systems in America. It goes to show that with the right support system and learning accommodations in place, there’s no reason a student who has learning differences shouldn’t thrive in school.

Rho and Matty. These two leads are both people who undergo so much growth in the book and I loved the character development. Watching Rho find her voice and confidence honestly was so relatable after struggling with unhealthy relationships myself. Matty. Oh my gosh, I wanted to give him a hug. He quite possibly is the most emotionally intelligent MMC I have read this year in a book. I loved how the relationship between Rho and Matty evolved SO organically. They have SUCH a strong foundation of friendship and respect for one another that it bleeds through every interaction.

This book reminds you of the power in “to be loved is to be seen.” I was entranced by the side characters (Bennett, Kane) and absolutely cannot wait to see where this series go from here. To the people who have ALWAYS felt unlovable, despite logically knowing they are, here’s to finding that person who reminds you that you, just as you are, are more than enough, ALWAYS. One of the best books I’ve read in 2024.
