"I think you'd be really easy to love"

It comes as no surprise that Peyton has nailed it yet again. I was giggling and kicking my feet within the first chapter of this book. Freddy was giving me butterflies. Ro was making me cry. Tyler was making me rage. (Seriously, Tyler. It's on sight 👊.)

It was so great to be back in this world with these characters and to see additional perspectives to further flesh out the events of the first book. Freddy and Ro are such loveable characters that are easy to fall for. This second book is so different from my previous expectations. I thought Ro and Freddy's story would go very differently but let me be clear, I am not disappointed! Peyton really took us on a journey with these characters and subverted the stereotypes we saw these characters labeled as in book one- Freddy the playboy and Ro the bookworm.

This is a SLOW BURN, y'all but believe me the wait is worth it. I loved that Freddy and Ro got to know each other first and developed a deep friendship before crossing that line into romance. Keep your tissues handy! Trauma and grief take a pivotal role in this story and it was lovely to watch how gentle and caring Ro and Freddy were with one another.

My highlighters and tabs are ready to annotate the moment this book arrives in February!

I cannot wait to read the books to come in this series.

I really enjoyed this book by Peyton Corinne. I actually liked this one more than the previous book (Unsteady) she had written. I found both Ro and Freddy to be very likable. I enjoyed the storyline and liked the smoothness of everything. I love when we give the FMC an interesting ethnic background. I also really appreciated how much detail went into Freddy's different academic difficulties and how much care Ro took to tudor him.
Overall this was such a sweet story and worth the read.

Truly a beautiful love story. Ro and Matt deserve every single good thing in life. And they deserve SO MUCH LOVE. Seeing how they just gradually fell in love with each other and helped each other pick up the pieces of themselves that were hard to carry.

My bb Matt. He just wanted to love and to be loved by someone. Someone to believe in him. Ro was the perfect match for him. She encourages him to love himself just as much and he did for her.

Ro spoke to me in so many different ways as an FMC. The way she wanted to ask for more but felt like she couldn't. Adjusting herself to fit into what people wanted from her and not what she wanted for herself. She was so patient with Matt. Giving him the space to heal and grow. She never turned away when it maybe got too "uncomfortable"

I need to give a MAJOR shoutout to the author. The mental health rep of MEN in this book is so refreshing to see. It's so important to shine light on their struggles. Her writing of ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia were so well thought out. You can tell it was written by someone who has experienced it or has loved someone who has. Or even if she just did her research! It showed throughout the whole book.

The pacing and the writing of the book were engaging. I was thinking about the book when I was reading, and I found myself reaching for this book versus others.

Tyler :) You can kick rocks.

I also really loved that this book was taking place at the same time Rhys and Sadie were falling in love with each other!! It makes me want to go back and read their book again to see if I can get on snippets of Ro and Matt.

And the epilogue?! Be still my heart. Married and babies, filling their house with LOVE

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 !!!

I did not expect the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on but it was so beautiful 🥲 I loved every bit of Ro + Freddy. They were so relatable, adorable and REAL. The build up from strangers, to tutor/student and then to lovers was perfection, couldn’t have been written better. My favorite parts of the book tho were- Freddy’s fierce protectiveness over Ro as she is experiencing some abuse from an on/off again boyfriend AND the representation of ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I think it made the journey so much better by reading “Unsteady” first!

Mini summary: the book follows Matt “Freddy” the left winger for their college hockey team, who hopes to make it into the NHL but needs to pass his classes and graduate first. His learning disabilities have been shoved aside by many - until, Ro comes in as his new tutor. However, Ro doesn’t know this at first and it sets for a surprise since Freddy has been her crush since freshman year.

I can’t tell you enough good things about this book but plz experience it yourself when it comes out next February 🫶🏻

Thank you so much NetGalley, @peytoncorinneauthor and @atriabooks for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

I've been so excited for Matty and Ro's story since I read Unsteady earlier this year. While I did enjoy getting into their heads in this read, I felt there were too many challenges they faced in such a short amount of time and it felt barely resolved. There was a lot of drama involving Ro's ex and Matty's past, which overshadowed their love story. I wish we had more of them as close friends without the ongoing obstacles that kept reappearing. Also, Matty's past felt unresolved towards the end. It wrapped up pretty fast. Nonetheless, I loved how Matty and Ro balanced each other out and knew what each other needed. I see many similarities in this book with the Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy and the Boys of Tommen series by Chloe Walsh. If those are your cup of tea, you'd probably enjoy this!

Thank you Atria Books for the eARC!

this was so cute!!!!

i loved unsteady and really looked forward to the second book in the series. i am so happy and relieved to say i enjoyed it a lot as well!!

i initially thought this would be a continuation of unsteady. i wasn’t expecting this book to follow the same timeline, but i actually loved how it was like a behind-the-scenes from the crumbs we got in unsteady. like honestly not many authors can make the stories and characters captivating enough to have it take place in the same timelines, but peyton did!! *chefs kiss*

now onto ro and matty (aka freddy): my lovergirl and loverboy. they were so cute and i want them to be protected at all costs. the angst in their stories was so heartbreaking and i got emotional several times. i loved them both individually and even more together. two precious, wholesome cinnamon rolls. they felt like real, mature, and emotionally intelligent people.

i also just want to mention that the found family in this book is so special and sweet. ro, matty, sadie, rhys, liam and oliver, bennett, holden, and all the waterfell hockey team. i love them all so much!! ♡

this book had a lot of potential, and started off strong, but then it kinda just tapered off. the biggest issue for me was the whole focus on ro’s on-and-off-again boyfriend, tyler. the story focused a lot on the mess that was their “relationship” causing ro and matty to not even get together until like 70% into the story! the loser ex was just too much in this book that i got annoyed any time he appeared in a scene. also, the lack of consequences for all the antagonists in this story made me upset, especially with how it was all building up to some big takedown. idk i feel like there could’ve been more justice for ro and matty.

but even though ro and matty didn’t get together until 70% into the story, they were both so wholesome and endearing. their relationship never felt rushed or forced and i loved how they had an existing friendship built on trust and kindness. and the epilogue was so swoon worthy!!! i loved it so much. it was a perfect end for these two, though i do hope to see them in future books.

who’s next in the undone series? my money’s on bennett and paloma, and i really hope tor gets a book too.

This book was even better than the first one, I loved everything about it and then some. I love how it's an interconnected standalone and it gives more options for readers.

I should just give Peyton direct deposit at this point because if she keeps writing like this, she might as well own my bank account.

Unloved is book two in the Undone series following students from the prestigious Waterfell University.

In Unloved we focus on our FMC Ro, a brilliant student and loyal friend, and MMC Freddy, school hockey star and playboy with some academic struggles. Though Freddy doesn’t need a college degree since she’s already signed to an NHL team, he strives to prove to himself and everyone else that he is more than a body. This leads him to Ro who reluctantly was assigned as Freddy’s tutor. As the two grow through their struggles they build a friendship so beautiful they’re scared for it to turn to more.

This book. THIS BOOK!!! 8% in and I knew I was a goner for these characters. Both Freddy and Ro are so deeply emotional and caring but self doubting. Watching them both fight against their own minds while constantly fighting FOR and defending the other?! Chefs kiss. I just wanted to give both of them a big hug and little forehead kisses so many times!

2 things I especially loved about this book:

1 the diversity and representation. The way I’m which the author so perfectly captured the reality of learning differences and anxiety? It was so real and so human! In regards to diversity, I often find authors can be over the top and performative when writing POC characters almost like they’re trying to reach a diversity quota. Ro was done so incredibly well. From her description and appearance to her culture and mothers cooking it felt subtle but you could so clearly picture her.

2, is the way in which it ran along book one Unsteady. These books somewhat overlap and so you could still see and grow with Rhys and Sadie from the beginning and see a different angle to their relationship all while falling in love with Freddy and Ro! A true book about friendship, we see more to this little found family of college students, a gain while watching how friendship can grow into more. Seeing some dynamics subtly fall into place more in Unloved, it also has me excited for more stories from these characters like Bennett and surprisingly Torren (who serves as a bit of a villain in both books).

It’s a special experience finding a newer author and getting to grow alongside them. That’s easily a journey I’m thrilled to go on with Peyton Corinne

*I received a digital ARC from the publisher Atria and NetGalley, but all thoughts and opinions are completely my own

I read Unsteady before reading Unloved. Even though they are interconnected standalone series, I’m glad I did because it set up for Ro’s and Matt’s story to really soar. I think so many people will be able to connect or relate to their experiences which made their story so much more impactful. I throughly enjoyed rooting for their relationship and growth along the way. I truly hope we get to continue the journey of Bennett or Kane!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. Unloved comes out February 4th, 2025.

Wow, I genuinely loved this. I loved Ro and Freddie in the first book, so I was really excited for this ( and excited still for more players in the future). But what really stood out to me in this book was how 1) theres no 3rd act breakup/ misunderstanding which is fantastic and 2) the emotion/ grief with Freddie was done so well. It is rare that a book can make you really feel what the character is feeling, and even harder when it's a male character, but my heart broke for his character.

I loved this book. So one big thing I'll say is that, a lot of times with hockey romances like this, they are standalones in an interconnected series. Now while that is true here, you are missing out greatly if you don't read the first book. I'll tell you why. I didn't read the first book, I got approved by NetGalley to read the ARC of Unloved because i assumed it was a standalone within a series. However the problem I quickly noticed was the couple that was obviously the main characters in the first book were not okay, did not have a happy ending and were in the middle of a lot of struggles. That was when i realized, THESE BOOKS ARE HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME. As soon as I realized it, I started reading the first one. Got caught up to the same point and started tandem reading the two. Highly recommend you read both books at the same time so you can experience the full story from both sides. I will admit that i liked Ro and Freddy's story a lot more. I've always loved the innocent girl and the guy who is hella confident. Also this book was very emotional and tackled a lot of difficult things that were hard to read about at times.

If you like the first book in this series, you will love this one! Dare I say I liked this better than the first book? Freddy and Ro had such a genuine relationship that started as friendship. You really got to feel the relationship come together one page at a time.

Both books have such real characteristics to life and it's very relatable and how to advocate for yourself in all aspects of life. I'm really hoping the author is setting this up for a third in the series because I will definitely be reading that!

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC!

Somehow this was better than the first book??? I absolutely adored book one, but the dynamic and growth between both Freddy and Ro is so amazing that it made this book even better.

This book dealt with a lot of very heavy topics, and they were all written with such care and grace. Both main characters had such a realistic growth from everything and the author wrote it so beautifully.

Overall, this book was such a wonderful time to read. I’m already waiting for the (hopefully) next book in this world pretty impatiently.

Also side note - the playlist the author made for this book? Absolutely amazing. 10/10 would recommend listening to while reading.

Thank you to Netgalley and Atria for the advanced copy of this book!

“I think loving you would be the greatest thing in my life.”

This book you guys!!! Matty & Ro have me in an absolute chokehold. There’s just something about Peyton’s writing that always sucks me in. It’s real. It’s raw. And her books are just so well written. 👏🏻

Matty & Ro have both been through it…let me tell you. But watching them develop a friendship & learn how to trust each other & then fall in love was so freaking beautiful! I’m just obsessed with these two and love how fiercely they protected one another!

- tutor x student
- hockey player mmc
- adhd x dyslexia rep
- reformed playboy
- slooooow burn
- emotional depth
- found family

Thank you so much to Peyton Corinne & Atria books for this ARC!

4 stars!! I thought that Ro and Freddy felt like real genuine love which is sometimes hard to come by in romance books! There was raw emotional depth that was shown in this book- which is also uncommon. I liked how this book followed the same timeline as in Unsteady- it made the book a lot easier to read and it was honestly so refreshing because it WASNT a continuation of the story.

If you liked the first book you will LOVE the second. Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this ARC!

I really liked the first book in this series, so was looking forward to this one.

It was even more moving, loving and unputdownable. The two main characters (a hockey player with a ticket to the NFL and a brilliant student) are the perfect example of new adults finding just the right person to help them feel safe and seen, grow into who they want to be, and have a gentle place to make mistakes along the way.

Personally, I appreciate that the story shows how we do and do not deserve to be treated in relationships (friendship, romantic, sexual, familial), how to advocate for ourselves and others when red flags wave, and how to tell the differences.

Fantastic book, and I hope we get more of this friend group's stories soon.

This book was better than the first! Matty is a sweetheart, and I loved how you were able to see his vulnerable side especially when he spoke about his mom. Talk about swoon!! They way he felt for Rosalie from the very beginning and how he just knew she was special was great. Rosalie basically being in love with him and him being her first kiss was EVERYTHING!

I absolutely loved Unloved. I've had this book on my radar since Peyton Corinne released Unsteady, and it did not disappoint. Freddy and Ro had a beautiful story, and I loved watching them grow throughout it. You could genuinely feel their love and the emotional depth of this book. As much as I loved Unsteady, Unloved was on a whole new level. My heart broke for both Ro and Matty throughout this book, but in the end it was perfect. This was by far one of the best 2024 reads. Thank you so much NetGalley for an ARC of this book! Cannot wait to read more from Corinne in the future!

I was sooo happy to have gotten an early copy of this book y’all. All the slowburn, friends-to-lovers goodness you’d want, with the emotional depth that I think some readers are missing in the average sports romance. Not unlike Unsteady, this book was heaaavyyy, but rest assured that Matt and Ro get the happy ending and the love they deserve. I personally am drawn to a romance that leans on the lighter side of things, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t kicking my feet by the end.

This is a slow burn, and honestly I loved the romance so much once we got it that I wish it had happened sooner, but it made such good sense for the characters. I loved watching them build such a supportive and vulnerable friendship-turned-love. This is the type of book you turn to to feel better about the world - you just gotta get through the rain to get to the sunshine.

I’d recommend doing a reread of the first book before picking this one up, as I was struggling to remember events and characters at times. I also think the idea of each characters struggles and insecurities could have been made a bit simpler, as it felt like there was a lot for the both of them and to try and drive the point home some scenes got a bit repetitive.

Overall this one really pulled on the heartstrings and is a really refreshing read! If you feel like you have read every sports romance and are looking for something refreshing, this is it! And it’s such a good reminder that despite everything, we all deserve love.
