Thank you to Atria Books for the advance reader copy and to LibroFM and Simon Audio for the complimentary audiobook. These opinions are my own.
I was so excited for the opportunity to read Unloved, having really appreciated Unsteady. You can read this sequel as a stand alone, but it helps to have seen some of the interactions and backstory of previous relationships in Unsteady.
Ro begins to tutor Matt, and he doesn't recall their first meeting or have any idea that she has long had a crush on him.
There's so much depth to this book. At its heart, it's about two people who are lonely and seeking validation. Take care of yourself reading because there is some horrible shaming in it. But it feels so real and genuine. Matt's learning disabilities are portrayed incredibly well. I was swept along with the characters and their journey. I just want these two lovely souls to know love together forever.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity for this arc!
After reading Unsteady I was so excited to read this one, but after recieveing the arc it took me MONTHS to get through and I am not sure why, but I wasn’t able to connect with the characters. I am finally finished with it after the book has come out and I had to force myself to finish it 😭
Always grateful for the opportunity and really wished I loved this one more.

Freddy and Ro are some of the most tender-hearted characters I’ve met in a long time. They yearn, they grieve, they learn the meaning of being loved wholly.
Payton Corrine does an excellent job of writing raw, real, and very human characters that are so worthy of love. You really champion for them in this story.
Hoping for more in the Undone series, they may be my favorite hockey romances!

3.5 ⭐️
this book was an anticipated sob fest waiting to happen and damn, did it completely follow through. a story about two broken people finding comfort in eachother - so so sweet 😭
ro and matty must be protected at all costs. THE THINGS PEOPLE HAVE DONE TO THESE TWO?! jail. (meet me in the parking lot ASAP tyler and carmen tinley)
i loved watching their relationship grow from friends to lovers. i loved watching them lean on one another. ro learning tutoring strategies to help matty understand math with his dyscalculia?? i was a goner for them
the greatest (but also hardest) part about this book was watching ro try to stand up for herself. while her redemption was there, i wanted her to TEAR TYLER APARTTTT. we don’t allow terrible men to speak to us that way !! i was waiting and waiting but it didn’t come 😭 (thank god for matty coming to the rescue). i’m not the target audience for a fmc with no backbone, BUT watching her stand up to matty’s professors/advisor instead did make that pill easier to swallow. i just wish she could’ve done it for herself!! #tearterriblemenapart
(as you can tell, i am very much a sadie)
this book was also quite long, and could stand to be 50 pages less - i really started to force myself to finish
but i still think it was a beautifully written story 🫶🏻 thank you to peyton, atria and netgalley for gifting me an arc!

Sports Romance
Interconnected stand alone book 2
Ok I liked this one even more than book 1. This series have Abby Jimenez vibes with sports. The main characters have complicated backstories. You feel for them and it is about healing not all about romance. I love Freddy the male main character. He is just so broken. He just needs someone to see him. You can read book 1 first (unsteady) but you don’t have to.

OMG THIS BOOK! I adored it. The first one was amazing, and the second one was even better. I'm beyond excited for the next book in the series as I have a few theories on who the MMC is, and the writing is top tier!

“𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆”
Peyton Corinne's “Unloved,” the second novel in the “Undone” series, features a romance between a biomedical student and a star college hockey player.
Rosalie "Ro" Shariff has one goal for her freshman year: to cross off a list of wild things to do after growing up in a sheltered home. A virgin and never-been-kissed freshman, she attends a party with her best friend, Sadie Brown, and has her first kiss with Matthew "Freddy" Fredderic. The kiss is electrifying, but despite pining for Freddy over the next two years, Ro eventually meets Tyler Donaldson, a fellow science student, and they begin dating.
Now a senior at Waterfell University, Ro is preparing for grad school in the biomedical science department. Working under Dr. Carmen Tinley has proven to be a challenge. Her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Tyler Donaldson, is the lead student in the department. Despite their relationship, he belittles Ro in front of her peers, making condescending and sexist remarks. When he refuses to tutor a student he deems "the college idiot," Tyler passes the responsibility to Ro, who must step in.
Freddy, the star left winger for the Waterfell Wolves, has a reputation as a hockey playboy, excelling in his bedroom skills but struggling academically. Suffering from dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD, Freddy hasn't had the proper support to succeed in school. After the loss of his mother during his freshman year, he drowns his grief in alcohol and one-night-stands. However, when Freddy meets Ro, he finds someone who believes in him and becomes his champion.
Together, Ro and Freddy work to improve Freddy's grades. Ro employs creative methods, such as incorporating music and hockey references, to help Freddy grasp the scientific and mathematical concepts he struggles with. As they spend more time together, their friendship deepens, and they become each other's confidants.
Freddy opens up about his difficult past, revealing his estranged relationship with his NHL-star father and the pain of a failed affair with a married professor. Meanwhile, Ro is grappling with her emotionally abusive boyfriend, Tyler, who belittles her and convinces her that she is not smart enough. As Ro and Freddy's feelings for each other grow, they learn to rely on one another and communicate openly about their emotions.
Corinne's novel takes place concurrently with the events of the first book in the series. Music references are sprinkled throughout the story, and while fans of Corinne's work may appreciate these, the frequent song mentions disrupt the pacing and often feel irrelevant to the plot. The novel delves into heavy topics such as death, depression, health tragedies like cancer and stroke, manipulation, and an inappropriate teacher-student relationship. While these themes are significant, the sheer number of them overwhelms the narrative. Corinne might have benefited from focusing on one or two issues, which would have allowed the story to flow more smoothly and reduced the novel's length, potentially elevating it to a four-star read.
Despite these critiques, the novel's characters are adept at communicating their needs, and the absence of a typical third-act breakup is a refreshing departure from romance novel conventions.

THE SECOND BOOK IN THE UNDONE SERIES IS OUT!!!! I am a totaly geek over Unstead and I knew that I was jsut going to adore Unloved - to nobodies surprise, this passed my 5 star scale with flying colours. The banter in this book is unparralleled and I am a sucker for the tutor trope - especially when there is much undeniable chemistry as there was between Freddy and Ro.

Best Book of 2025!
I love the protective side of Freddy, how he genuinely care for her. Freddy is the definition of a green flag. He listens to audiobooks with her, calls her "princess", catalogs the things that make her smile. Freddy absolutely stole my heart.
I love that Freddy and Ro found healing and acceptance with each other.
If you love emotional reads with the best found family, please go and read Unloved!

Let me just tell you this for right now. I LOVE PEYTON CORINNE'S WRITING! AND I LOVED THIS BOOK!
This book follows Ro and Freddy, which we got a bit of a sneak peak from her first book in Unsteady. I am so excited to read their story.
Freddy struggles with multiple learning disabilities and Ro is voluntold to be his tutor. Freddy needs to stay as eligible to continue to play hockey, but his current tutor was not much help and just happened to be Ro's current boyfriend, well he drops Freddy off to Ro to tutor. Ro has had a crush on him since Freshman year when they met at a party, that she is pretty sure he doesn't remember. They low key lean on each other as she helps him significantly in understanding what works best to help him learn and he helps her understand how she should be treated both as a person and as a lover. Seeing how each character blossoms throughout the book is beautiful. Peyton does a very good job of showing fictionally in a realistic sense of dealing with learning disabilities, disabilities in general, and various mental health struggles.
Tropes:
She falls first, but he falls harder
disability/mental health rep
hockey romance
student/tutor relationship

Unfortunately, Unloved was just not for me. At first, I loved it--especially the descriptions of Ro and her style. I also thought Freddy was an interesting character at the start. I got more than fifty percent into this book before I had to put it down. Ro's shitty boyfriend is evil to the point of being cartoonish, and the constant "we're just friends" from Ro and Freddy got old after the fifth time it happened. It made it really difficult to enjoy the physical aspects of their relationship, or to feel warm and fuzzy about the budding connection between them.
I think with a few tweaks, this could have been a book I really liked, but it just fell a bit short for me. I gave this book a one-star rating because I ultimately made the choice to DNF.

I LOVED this book, Freddie and Ro have my heart. Their love story felt so authentic to me. Usually I don't like when an ex is involved in the book, but I didn't mind it here. Would HIGHLY recommend this book to people, just be prepared for an emotional read.

This romance is beautiful, unfolding naturally with moments of passion, vulnerability, and undeniable chemistry. Every interaction feels meaningful, drawing readers into a love story that lingers long after the final page. If you enjoy stories that delve into complex emotions and authentic relationships, this book is a must-read!

This book has my heart! It’s so soft and emotional- perfect for the tender lovers. Her writing has grown and the characters are really developed. The plot was a bit weak and the ending could be refined a bit more but the characters just mean so much to me! I’m very excited about the next book already

I absolutely LOVED this book. Peyton is truly a phenomenal writer and I will be reading all her books to come. I was able to ARC Unsteady and now ARC Unloved and I truly believed no one would beat Sadie & Rhys. Matty and Ro were beautiful. Once again Peyton had me feeling every emotion possible with her writing. Her writing is magical just like the love between Matty & Ro. They were so tender and so romantic. They found a home and a person within each other. They were both lonely before each other, truly heart wrenching and heartwarming at the same time.

Thank you NetGalley for this Arc. I rated this book 4.5 stars and 2.5 chili peppers for spice. I loved this story. I loved Ro and Matty. I loved how Ro was understanding and helpful and Matty was just so lovable. He was just a misunderstood good guy. I also found it fascinating to read about abuse of power from a female teacher to a male student. You only ever read about it with male teachers and female students. It was an interesting perspective that I’m glad was written about. I loved how they helped each other navigate loss and grief. I also really found it cool that this timeline ran along side the timeline of the first book in the series. My one personal critique is that j wish the slow burn wasn’t so slow. There was so much tension I wanted a little bit more spice closer to the midway point. Having to wait until the end was rough for me because I just wanted them to be together lol Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

There was so much emotion and love in this book. If you're a fan of hurt/comfort, hockey, and dual pov then this book is for you. Freddy and Ro were so sweet together. I enjoyed their journey to love. They both deserved someone that loved them unconditionally.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Atria and Peyton Corinne for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Rating: 3.25/5 - I really enjoyed this book but it probably isn't one that I will reread
🌶️: 3/5 - there is a handful of explicit intimate scenes
🏒: 2/5 - there is some hockey, a few practices, a game
TLDR: Hurt/comfort through and through
This book is an excellent choice for hurt/comfort. The entire book feels like it focuses on that troupe. Certainly not a bad thing. It just is. I really liked the main characters and wanted to see them get their happily ever after. The ending was highly satisfying.
Ultimately, I'd recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a hurt/comfort read.
Thank you to the author, Atria Books, and NetGalley for the advanced review copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

This might be one of my favorite books that I’ve ever read. I recently listened to Unsteady on audio to prepare for getting an ARC of Unloved. I really enjoyed Unsteady, but I couldn’t really relate to Sadie or Rhys. I felt like I enjoyed that book as a spectator, not as someone who really connected to them. And didn’t find Sadie to be that likable, but I adored Rhys and his caring self. I was lucky enough to meet Peyton Corinne at an Unloved book signing in my hometown. I told her that I had just finished listening to Unsteady and she raved about the Unloved audiobook and its narrators. I was planning on eyeball reading my ARC/purchased copy, but I am SO glad I listened to her. The audiobook was truly incredible. It’s probably in my top 3 audiobooks ever as far as narration is concerned. The narrators fit their characters perfectly. They read with such emotion, the right amount of hitch in their voice when it called for it. I could feel every emotion just by listening to them. The husky voice on the guy damn near killed me! I am usually so slow to listen to audiobooks (i.e. 3-4 weeks) and I finished this one in 6 days lol. I was locked in on this book right from the prologue. Freshman year Ro was very much freshman year me. Wide eyed, not sheltered but super introverted. Had a wild roommate who I also once begged not to leave me alone at a party lol. So many of her young thoughts mirrored my own back then. I think I got chills when she was repeating “I can be whoever I want to be” to herself constantly. I adored sweet Ro’s character. I could relate to all of her little insecurities, her affinity for school, her lists. I absolutely HATED Tyler and how he treated her. But this was a great example of how a gorgeous, smart girl could get stuck with a terrible guy and think that she’s never going to do any better. Sadie always told Ro what she thought of Tyler, but this just goes to show that you can’t make someone want to leave a bad partner. They have to want it themselves. Freddy! Matt. My god I loved him. I loved his character so much. He was so much more than a playboy, that was immediately evident. I saw his situation coming from a mile away. I hate it for him. I hated how he felt about himself and how people made him feel like he was only worth a good lay. I hated his dad, people like that shouldn’t even become parents. I loved LOVED hearing about his mom and Archer. I didn’t tear up the entire book but once it got to the Archer part I lost it. I loved how good Freddy was to Ro, even when they were just tutor and student. He was always looking out for her, caring for her, defending her. Even when he thought she had a boyfriend. I loved that every little thing Tyler made Ro hate about herself, was things that Freddy loved the most about her. I loved that he let her be herself, quirks and all. I loved how patient he was with her in all of the relationship aspects, knowing there was damage to undo from Tyler. This book? It is a SLOW BURN. At the book signing, Peyton said it was the slowest burn she’d ever written and I believe it. I don’t think anything even happened until 30 chapters in, and it didn’t really go down until 90%. But truly, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way for them. This was perfect for their timeline. They both had grief and trauma to deal with. Different than Rhys and Sadie, but still difficult. I loved how they slowly made the other person feel good in their own skin. Lovable. I loved how Ro went from mortified to more confident in the bedroom, just by being with someone who wasn’t just plain awful. There wasn’t a single thing that I didn’t like about this book. It sucked me in right from the start. It had me locked in right until the very end. I don’t even normally like epilogues that are too far in the future, but it was so perfect here. Everything about it. I read a lot of fun, light books. This book was pretty heavy, but it was also a lot of fun. It was real, raw, and emotional, but it was perfectly balanced. I find myself already wanting to reread it, relive all the moments. Ro and Matt were pure perfection. Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC. Thank you to the author for suggesting the audiobook. Thank you for writing this book and these characters. You have absolutely made a fan out of me.

This was an amazing read. It was so full of tension, pining, love, healing, and everything in-between. Ro and Freddy really nailed the friends to lovers trope. I love that their lives were intwined long before they became friends and fell in love. Ro was always patient, kind, and caring with Freddy and Freddy was the same to Ro. They healed each other with their friendship and beyond, and I loved that everything felt so raw and real.
