Kresley Cole’s “A Hunger Like No Other” hooked me from the start when I read the book YEARS ago. Now that I read it again after the re-release, it made me realize how much I missed Immortals After Dark.

Sebastian (turned into a vampire centuries ago against his will) is full of hatred and feels lonely. He has little reason to live until Kaderin (who, by the way, was sent to kill him), unknowingly saves him instead. Their dynamic is nothing short of magnetic. Their love story is not just about passion, but also about healing and acceptance. The instant connection between them is undeniable, but what I loved about this book was how logically it treated the mating process. As their bond grew, the FMC’s emotions consumed them, producing a deliciously slow-burning tension that kept me wanting to turn the page over and over again.

Kresley Cole has built such a rich and fascinating supernatural world and A Hunger Like No Other is a testament to that. The plot is fast-paced and the chemistry between the MCs is THRILLING! As I continue reading the series and revisiting this world, each book keeps me invested in these characters and their journeys… and I find myself caring deeply about everyone (I CAN’T WAIT TO GET TO LOTHAIRE!).

“A Hunger Like No Other” is an exhilarating mix of romance, action and juicy world-building. The chemistry between the characters is OFF THE CHARTS and the story continues to remind me why I fell in love with this world for the second time in my life. If you love a great supernatural romance, you won’t want to miss this one.

Ugh another great book from Kresley Cole. I’m so glad these books are getting republished and I hope that the entire series does. This series && this book were pioneers of Romantasy to me, and they deserve every accolade!

No Rest for the Wicked kept me super interested and invested in Sebastian and Kaderin’s story. It had me chuckling and feeling some type of way with their slow burn meets fast burn relationship with all the excited touching! I definitely loved the characters in this book slightly more than book one in IAD series.

Sebastian was turned into a vampire 300 years ago against his will. He has been sulking ever since. Kaderin is a Valkyrie carrying a lot of guilt because of the death of her family. She has been fighting and killing ever since. Riora is a Goddess who runs a competition for supernatural creatures. If a creature wins, they get a prize of untold value and power. Kaderin enters the contest because she always does and Sebastian enters because he would do anything to be near Kaderin. He knows she’s his bride but she simply doesn’t care. Let the games begin!
Basically, she hates him because he’s a vampire. He has been sulking for 300 years so he knows nothing about the supernatural world except what his brothers told him when they turned him. They work their way through the competition and having adult interaction. In the end, they end up together. There is a depressed werewolf who is probably going to get his own book in the series. And Sebastian is searching for his missing brother.
One of the HUGE questions I have is, how did no one at all anywhere notice the supernatural creatures fighting for the items in the contest? Ok, some were in remote locations but the competitors were taking private jets and helicopters all over the world. And everyone in the supernatural/paranormal world all seem to hate each other. Why would I care about an impending war if they don’t even care enough to try to build relationships to help win the war? One small shoutout, Sebastian’s brother seems to understand that the “good guys” need to stand together or they will all be destroyed.
This is a story set all over the world and populated by mythical creatures. This book had all of the components that I usually enjoy but it didn’t work for me. My best measurement is that I didn’t care if the characters ended up together, I didn’t care if they got their families back together, I just didn’t care. This book is going to appeal to a lot of people and they will give it high ratings. I will read more from this author in the future because I have enjoyed other books but I won’t read more from this series.

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was fun, snarky, steamy, action-packed and I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed this book and will continue to look for new books by this author.

Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series is perfect for fans of paranormal romance. If you are searching for forbidden romance, enemies to lovers, and a steamy vampire romance, pick up No Rest for the Wicked. And the new cover art? Love!

Struggled a little to get into this one. My fault did not realise it was part of a series so it included elemtms and characters from previous books. I also thought there would be more build up to the romantic connection, and felt there was a little bit of insta love going on which I am not a fan of. Not for me but well written and would probably be enjoyed by others.

Thank you to Gallery and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-m/f paranormal romance
-rivals to lovers
-hate how attractive you are
-one time to get it out of our systems
-fated mates
-death games

I'm having a lot of fun reading this series. The great world building, the building conflict, and how she tries to fight her feelings, and he's just doing whatever he can to help her.

Sadly this book just didn’t grab as much as I hoped it would. I put it down and picked it up multiple times but I just couldn’t connect with it. Super bummed.

It has been years since I read my first Kresley Coloe book which interestingly enough was this very book. It was worth the re-read and it reminded me why I enjoyed all of Cole's books and why I have so many on my kindle.
Like a mystical hero, we get the origin story for our MMC and what an origin. Then he meets the one for only him and she hates vampires. The author really ratcheted up the tension which came on the heels of one heck of a all consuming kiss. Everything I described happened in the first few chapters. We had drama, sexy times and violence all layered on a complex cast of near immortals. If that is not enough, Sebastian's brother who turned him vamp is actually the leading man from the previous book. Between that family drama and Katja wanting to bring back her sisters who will hate Sebastian's, this book has a lot of family issues to sort through keeping the drama up and the readers turning the page. Finally, what would a once every 500 years event be without action like finding a jade jaguar.
This book combines so much into one easy read. We have tension and drama, action and adventure and sexy times that turn up the heat. Immortals After Dark is a well written, page turning terrific example of a vampire tale. Readers won't be disappointed. In fact, they will be pulled into the world that Cole created full of vampires and so much more and plenty of those characters are sexy.. One small complaint, I am not found of this new cover.
Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the opportunity to read this story anew.

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for letting me read this book early! All my thoughts are my own.

“No Rest for the Wicked” is a great paranormal romance set in the Immortals After Dark series. I’m glad the consent wasn’t near as dubious as the first, and I truly loved both Kaderin and Sebastian’s backstories and character growth. The spicy scenes were definitely hot as well! Definitely a must read for any paranormal romance fans! 4⭐️

The Amazing Race, but make it with mythological and fantasy creatures and featuring a grumpy Valkyrie forming a reluctant alliance with a handsome and broody Vampire that will follow her til the end of the world. Gosh. Bastian and his Katja were amazing in this one. I’m so glad they are being given a new life in a rerelease and amazing new cover!

First, I would like to note that the new cover design for this book is absolutely stunning! Chefs kiss!
The story follows a golden retriever personality Vampire & a stubborn strong Valkyrie. We follow these two sworn enemies as they navigate through trials, and figuring out how they will play a part in each others lives. I have to admit, the first book in this series was more my speed as far as the story line. The trial plot line kind of fell flat for me and I found myself a little less enthralled. However, the characters in this book have my whole heart. Sabastian & Kaderin kept me wanting more of them & their dynamic, I love the world built, and many, many of the side characters that played parts in this book/series!
I Highly recommend giving this series a shot if you love:
-Fated Mates
-Enemies to Lovers
-Fun sister Dynamics
-Strong female leads
-Spice!!!

The second book in the immortals after dark series.

This story is a forbidden romance between a vampire and a Valkyrie. This series has captured my heart. The writing style is phenomenal, it flows organically without being forced.

Sebastian our vampire, turned against his will, has held on to his gentle nature throughout the years. He is still a warrior at heart but is more than just a brute force. He is highly intelligent and cunning, His part in this story to me, he holds this plot together and made me want to continue to read, I truly needed to know what was going to happen next. He has given up on “living” until Kaderin walks into his life.

Kaderin hatred for vampires reaches through her soul, having lost her sisters to them. She has spent her life alone, cold hearted, and carrying around the guilt of surviving. She wants to destroy each and every one of them.

Their love is a slow burn, with a lot of trust that needs to happen but when they do risk it all 🌶️🌶️🌶️!! Both are unable to fight the pull they feel for one another.

Great storytelling, you fall into this book and forget reality around you. The connection with the characters were perfect, you were able to feel their emotions and struggles.

Here we are reading a classic love story between a Vampire and a vampire killer. This story was published in 2006 originally and I can see how romance has changed a bit over the years. Consent is something the vampire (Sebastian) struggles with but I have to say he worked so hard at it. He is a reluctant vampire who was forced to become one. He hated his life and was prepared to die when Kaderin showed up to slice his head off. However, it never happened as it was soon evident that she was his “Bride” and the soulmate he needed. His heart starts thumping again and he’s now hooked. Kaderin has lived her life feeling NOTHING due to a “blessing” from a god. (She has trauma and this helps. Disassociate my friend. ) After a brief scene where they hump each other, she realizes that this is not what she wants and runs. Sebastian begins the chase and hunts her down all over the world while dodging the sun because he’s duh.. a vampire. He is a simp for her and it's glorious. She is the reigning world champion for the magic world’s version for The Amazing Race so she is off to do that while Sebastian follows after her like a puppy. His eagerness to help her is adorable. Did I forget to mention she is an older woman by thousands of years and a Valkyrie with super strength and speed? Anyway, the world this story occurs in is vast and I want to know more. The spice was spicing. These immortals are sassy and pretty modern. We have cell phones, helicopters, and blow dryers. The story moved quickly but felt like it was wrapped up too quickly. I wanted more angsty time before we reached the happy ending.

Big thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the chance to review this book pre-release. Somehow I missed that this was the second book in an ongoing series, but once I was able to track down the first book, I jumped right into them both. I really loved the world-building, characters and thought that the plot was well designed and laid out to the reader.

Kresley Cole’s No Rest for the Wicked is an engrossing adventure set in the mystical and perilous world of the Immortals After Dark series, easily one of my favorite paranormal series of all time. (and one of the most fun!). This thrilling installment delves into the story of the Sebastian Wroth, a tortured vampire grappling with his past, and Kaderin the Cold Hearted, a fierce Valkyrie determined to win a dangerous race.

Kaderin, a Valkyrie who’s lived for over 2,000 years, carries a heart full of sorrow and vengeance after a vampire, whom she once showed compassion to, massacred her sisters. Struggling with the aftermath of that horrific betrayal, a deity granted Kaderin a release from her pain by stripping her of all emotions. For a millennium, she has felt nothing—no joy, fear, or sorrow—until fate reunites her with Sebastian. Sebastian, once a human, died trying to protect his family and was unwillingly turned into a vampire by a grieving brother who could not bear to let him go. For centuries, he’s existed in solitude, hiding away in a castle in Russia, neither alive nor fully dead.

Kaderin has been sent to kill him, as she has done with countless others since her sisters’ deaths. But when their paths cross, an immediate and profound bond forms between them. For the first time in centuries, Sebastian feels truly alive, his heart beating again, and he instinctively knows that Kaderin is his Bride. Kaderin, on the other hand, is overwhelmed by the flood of emotions she hasn’t experienced in over a thousand years, and even more so, is overcome by the attraction she doesn't want to feel. (BRING ON THE KRESLEY SPICE!) The story unfolds as Sebastian embarks on a globe-trotting chase to prove his love for Kaderin, participating in a deadly competition that has Amazing race vibes- if all the contestants were supernatural immortals with long steweing vendettas against each other and dangerous powers. The prize for winning the race has huge stakes for all involved- if Kaderin wins, she can go back in time to save her sisters. Sebastian is a distraction she can't afford... but one she can't seem to deny.

What I loved so much about the emotional themes here is how Kresley gives us two characters who have quite LITERALLY lost the most key part of their humanity- their ability of feel love and pain. Until each other. They awake one another, in a way that is scary but mesmerizing. Sebastian is a tender and devoted hero who slowly comes to terms with his cursed existence because of his love for Kaderin. He immediately pledges himself to Kaderin, literally chasing her throughout the book as he revels in his longing for her.

The adventurous aspect of the plot adds a delightful layer of excitement, balancing the emotional depth of their romance with moments of levity and suspense...and of course, some of that trademark Kresley spice. Cole’s vivid descriptions and skillful storytelling whisk us away to the most alluring and treacherous locales. From Russia to the always present magic of New Orleans, there is always a vibrant setting to add layers to their love story.

I really loved the growth we see in both of them. Sebastian finds the path to accept himself, after fighting for so long against the creature he became. I loved the nuances to his story, the emotional depth explored. And their chemistry is just DELICIOUS. An intense inferno that just escaltes with every page. Their story is a little less erotically driven that my all time fav A Hunger Like No Other, but not less compelling, emotional, or sexy. And we have some great banter and repartee that brings some humor and lightness.

No Rest for the Wicked is a compelling blend of adventure, romance, and personal growth that ticked all my Kresley Cole loving boxes. With its magically mesmerizing and wonderfully unique characters, and sizzling chemistry, and page turning action, it's a fun and sexy read that never stops entertaining.

MUCH better than the first in the series. not only is the romance here stronger, the mmc is not as completely insufferable as the one from book 1. i still think the men in this series so far are a low point— esp with how layered and interesting our fmcs & female side characters are, the difference is almost upsetting— but i enjoyed this story soooo much more than the first & hope that the series can only get better from here (: plus the mmc has a fun character arc in this one!

This was such a fun and easy read! At first, it might seem like the main characters are falling for each other too quickly, but that’s not really the case. There’s an undeniable pull between them, but it’s not entirely by choice. The competitive dynamic adds a playful twist, and watching their relationship develop through it was super entertaining.

Overall, I really liked the story, enjoyed seeing their connection grow, and was happy with how everything wrapped up!
