Read through one sitting. I loved the analogies with wars and the ones with actual chess as the rules were being explained. I liked the moral of the story that even the lowliest can take down the highest. The short story read like an actual chess match between the king and the carpenter. I like the synonyms used to depict people (eg. The insignificant) because it painted the right picture of how they were perceived, at least through the king's eyes.
