this enemies to lovers romance was very enjoyable. I struggled with the heroine for quite a while. I felt like she was being difficult for the sake of it, but as their relationship developed and you got to see more of her interaction with their kids, it was much easier to understand her defensiveness. It was easy to read and sink into and a great selection for running errands on audio but also easy to bounce into in moments when I needed it on kindle.

This was a good read! I really enjoyed the plot and the characters. The story was well written and engaging. I would definitely recommend!

What a cute read. My first read from Amy Buchanan and it was good. I recently had a baby so the audiook was great, I really enjoyed this book because it was a work romance based on Orlando. It was a cute read.

LET'S CALL A TRUCE was one of my favorite reads this year and i loved revisiting this story in audiobook format. charlotte north did a wonderful job bringing this story to life and giving juliana a voice.

Let's Call a Truce is my first book by Amy Buchanan and I LOVED it! Juliana and Ben are co-workers and feud back and forth for two years, until they FINALLY call a truce and become friends, and later become a family. I really enjoyed the witty banter between the characters as their relationship progresses, which had me laughing several times. The story seemed realistic on how two families, with a past and baggage, come together, with some bumps in the road, and make things work.
If you enjoy enemies to lovers, steamy office romance, and second chances at love, then I highly recommend this book!
Thank you Macmillan Audio, NetGalley, and Amy Buchanan for my advanced copy of this book!

A debut novel that follows a newly widowed mom of two through her second chance at life and love. The office based rivals storyline is really good and after one epic meet disaster, I loved watching their relationship play out. Like others, I did not care for the third act breakup and thought it was just too messy. The audio was great though and the narrator did a great job with the full cast of characters.

I will disclose that the spice content in this book was well outside my personal comfort zone (especially on audio where it is difficult to skip without losing plot) but I’m trying to write this review objectively since that is a very person by person response. I do hope what I share can help readers determine if this book is for them. I took a chance on a new author and it ended up not being for me but it is not a poorly written book and there is a decent plot that stands up even if you remove the spice.
I loved the set-up of this book with the workplace enemies to lovers trope and single-working parent representation. The challenges that Juliana faced were real and hard things as a working mother even without the added challenge of losing her spouse. I felt very validated as a working mother trying to juggle being a good mom but also being a good employee.
The author truly set-up the enemy vibe early on and it was understandable as to why she was still angry years later. Even if things aren’t quite as they seem, I still think this was a great way to make the hate believable. I hated Ben at the beginning too! I appreciated his growth later in the book even if it frustrated me for a while.
I liked the romance but this is where the spice got in the way for me. I think this story would have been much stronger if it had been a slower burn on that point. It really is less about what was shown and more about the lack of emotional build (though the details were still beyond my comfort zone). They had a lot to overcome with Juliana’s emotional trauma, their feud and Ben’s past so a I think a slower burn would have been a better story. Also, while the relationship didn’t break any HR policies by its existence (per the characters), I’m pretty sure shenanigans in the workplace is frowned upon during working hours and that was just icky to me.
This story is drama-filled and while a little over the top for me, if you like all the drama and all
the spice then this one may be for you.
I did enjoy the narration and thought that the narrator did a good job of bringing the characters to life. It’s not always easy to do dialogue for a male character as a female narrator but I liked the way she voiced Ben as well.
I received an advanced copy of this audiobook via NetGalley. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
Content Notes: Multiple open door scenes some strong language

The dynamic between two characters in the workplace captivated me. Both carried emotional baggage that shaped their communication. Their conversations felt thoughtful and revealing, gradually fostering a deeper understanding of each other.
Some discussions flowed smoothly, while others highlighted the tension stemming from their past experiences. This blend of connection and conflict kept the experience engaging.
What really resonated was the authenticity of their exchanges. Each conversation held significance, reflecting their growth as they navigated challenges together. The balance between their struggles and their desire to understand one another created a compelling experience that lingered long after.

Widowed mum Juliana can't help but be attracted to Ben, her work colleague. Neither can disagree on the sparks that fly between the two when they argue at work. They are used to not getting along so when the two are tasked to work on a project together, they try to put their differences aside to get the job done.
This was a great debut from Amy Buchanan. I loved that both of the main characters had their own children and the way that the families came together was the sweetest. There was a lot of back and forth between the characters but all the situations seemed genuine and I enjoyed their journey in getting together. I'm excited for this author's next book, especially if it's as good as this one was!

The banter, the ups and downs, and the total story had me completely captivated within the first few pages. I couldn't get enough of this book!
Juliana lost her husband and was left providing for her young girls alone. She had family and a good support system, but even though she would forever love her late husband, she felt lonely. She had to return to the workforce where she met Ben.. handsome, charming, aggravating, irresistible. They quickly fell into a non-stop battle of wits, constantly harassing each other, fighting, and keeping score.
Enemies to lovers done correctly! This was the perfect mix of hate/love that ends with happily ever after!
Jeanie is hilarious. She had me laughing out loud. Ben was irresistible even when I was angry with him for making a dumb mistake involving his daughter. His ex-wife? What a mess that was!
I loved this story! 10/5 stars! It's so spicy as well!

I have some mixed feelings about this book. While the banter was cute (sometimes) and I do love a workplace enemies to lovers story , this one didn’t work for me. The main character, Julianna, came across as a bit too whiney for me… I think some of the ‘hate’ Julianna had for Ben was kind of immature. I think it would have been nice to have gotten Ben’s POV in a couple places. I do understand that the book is from Julianna’s POV and it’s important for the narrative to be consistent, but I think if we had Ben’s perspective for just a few key moments, it would have helped us understand where he was coming from.
This book dealt with a lot of heavy topics, but I felt that the ending was a bit of a mess. The story handled single parenting, the loss of a spouse, and re-entering the job force, among other things, and, to me, it didn't feel resolved.
The book Let’s Call a Truce is about main characters, Julianna and Ben, and their daughters. I had so many questions about the conclusion of the book and the resolution it provided.
2.5 stars
I did not care for the narration of this audiobook.

I enjoyed listening to this enemies to lovers story. It’s always refreshing to come across a story about older adults in their 30s finding love.
That being said, the third act conflict/break up felt so unnecessary, especially since the characters should have been mature enough to communicate and work through the problem.
Overall, it’s a cute listen if you like office romances.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy of the audiobook.

Very cute enemies to lovers story. Great escape book with the right amount of angst, humor and romance. Good narrators.

On Juliana's first day back into the work force a handsome man catches her eye. She berates herself for being attracted to him after the loss of her husband. Arriving to the offices she overhears said man speaking negatively about her. Game on. There is only absolutely necessary communication over the next two years. Being sent on a work conference together is the last either wants. With it being in Ben's hometown of Boston he offers to show her the sights. This leads to some sexy times in the hotel room. Upon returning home they decide to keep their new relationship just between the two of them. With having real feelings for one another they decide it's time to tell friends and family. A ghost from Ben's past shows up and all plans are ruined. I admired Ben for trying to put his daughter first but this didn't need to be an all or nothing situation. Juliana's sit back and wait approach didn't help matters. This was a cute single parents, enemy to lovers second chance romance that was a quick and enjoyable story. Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for this free advanced audio copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Three stars. Perfectly average, and kept me hooked listening. Some of the banter was cute, but so much of the first part is childish fighting. A huge part of this is the miscommunication trope that I loathe, mixed with my other least favorite trope in sayyy the third act?! The drama was out of character and pointless, but really I didn’t connect with either character enough to care. Very well narrated.

The story seemed to be repetitive and this is going to be a DNF for me. Made it through 5 chapters and the dialogue seemed very immature for a mom of 2 grieving her husband. Idea was nice but execution was too childish for me to continue

I literally stayed up devouring this book, I really have no words for how much I loved it. It's an angsty, funny, relatable and sexy ride of a book. I thought it would be a simple enemies to lovers book but it came with an unexpected twist and so much depth. Juliana's struggle with grief struck a cord within me and I appreciate an author who can write grief well. Ben is such a top tier mmc, always challenging Juliana and lifting her up and supporting her. They both had their flaws but in the end they're perfect for each other. I am so looking forward to whatever Amy Buchanan does next! Thank you NetGalley.

Let's Call a Truce is the perfect balance of steam and substance, and the audiobook version brings these elements to life beautifully! The narrator truly captured the sizzling tension of the rivals to lovers and slow burn romance, with the added bonus of he falls first—a trope that feels even sweeter in her voices. The narrator's mature, authentic portrayals make the characters even more relatable, especially since they’re navigating love, careers, and parenting.
I loved the Florida setting, with its Orlando and UF references adding a fun, personal connection for me as a UCF grad married to a UF alum. Hearing the familiar locations made the story extra special! If you’re looking for a romance audiobook that mixes open-door spice with heartfelt moments, this one is a must-listen.

"Let’s Call a Truce" by Amy Buchanan follows Juliana Ryan, a widow juggling her return to work while raising two young girls. The dynamic between her and Ben Thomas unfolds as a classic enemies-to-lovers trope, filled with tension and humor. Their initial feud adds depth to their relationship, making the eventual romance satisfying. Buchanan skillfully balances family life and personal growth, creating a heartfelt story that resonates. Overall, a compelling read with engaging characters and a lovely emotional arc. 4 stars well-deserved!

This book was such a delightful surprise from a new-to-me author! Let's Call a Truce ticks several fun boxes:
- female main character in her 30s (also: widow, single mother)
- single father male main character
- enemies-to-lovers
- workplace romance
- Florida setting
I really enjoyed this story, and I mostly didn't even mind that it was only single POV. The narrator did a fantastic job capturing the rich complexities of these characters and plot. I highly recommend this book!
