This book is beautifully written. It's about two different stories with two different relationships. Set in the past and present. In 1925 Elizabeth is wealthy and falls in love with Patricia a personal maid. They both managed to keep their relationship a secret. In the modern day Libby who used her college money to buy Elizabeth’s Mulberry home falls in love with Tish who Libby’s classmate. Libby along with Tish are restoring the Mulberry home. Libby discovers Elizabeth’s journal and read through so many things.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for giving me an opportunity to read this book and do a review.

Time after Time tells a story about love, loss, heartbreak and friendships. It's a beautiful tale about the eternal quality of love and how it defeats time.

I really liked this book and its characters, especially Joe who had my whole heart. Truly I can't say I disliked any of the characters, except one (if you know, you know). This story reminded me how fickle life can be and that you need to hold close your loved ones.

Mikki Daughtry did an amazing job at writing such loveable characters and such an unique story, it was hard to put the book down.

Thank you Netgalley and Penguin Group for this advanced readers copy.

This was an interesting and enjoyable story. I liked the way the author intertwined the story of Elizabeth and Patricia and the story, a hundred years later, of Libby and Tish. Even the names are similar — Elizabeth can be shortened to Lizzy, which is close to Libby, while Patricia can be shortened to Trish, very similar to Tish.

Libby has long had an attraction to the old rundown Victorian home on Mulholland St. and when the opportunity arises to purchase it at a bargain, she cannot resist, despite knowing essentially nothing about renovations and using most of her available funds to make the house purchase. Tish also finds herself strangely drawn to the house and is surprised when she impulsively knocks on the door and finds her new set design classmate, Libby. They strike up a friendship and Tish begins using her construction skills to make needed repairs. She also begins spending more time at the house, which presents a much better living situation than she currently has. Their friendship eventually leads to the opportunity for something more, which mirrors Elizabeth and Patricia in some respects. Societal acceptance of lesbian relationships has certainly improved over the century. However, Libby faces some of the same pressures of family expectations and traditional behavior that Elizabeth faces. Tish is not a servant of a despised nationality as Patricia was (as she was Irish at a time when prejudice against the Irish was still strong), but she is from a lower economic background than Libby and has the same fears about not being good enough for Libby that Patricia had about Elizabeth.

There is a great supporting cast with Joe, Cam and Bari. Also, the Mulholland house itself is essentially a character, with its various quirks.

This book is so devastatingly beautiful. I can't. It hit in all the right ways. It was romance at its finest. The way the plot lines weave together was masterfully done. I found myself simultaneously wanting to flip through pages faster to see what happened next, and not wanting the story to end.

We meet Libby after she has recklessly bought a victorian house she has always loved with the money she is supposed to be using for college. But there is something about this house that calls to her. Tish is just trying to get by in college, she's on a tight budget and knows a little about building things. The two slowly work together to restore Libby's house and the story that unfolds between them is wonderful.

If you love rooting for sapphic couples, love that defies time, and romance this is a must read. This is one that will stick with me. Thank you to the publisher for providing an advance copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
