I found this book very helpful and uplifting. I wish I found it while I was caring for my father and right after he lost his battle with cancer
I received this galley from NetGalley
'Hope For Caregivers' is a 6-week devotional book designed for those caring for others. As I find myself now in a caregiver role, I appreciated the thought-provoking devotions, reflection prompts, and accompanying Bible verses and prayers. The role of caregiver can at times feel overwhelming, isolating, and lonely. 'Hope for Caregivers' does a wonderful job of validating and uplifting caregivers while reminding them that they are not alone. Throughout the book, I found myself smiling while thinking back to moments with friends and family that I had forgotten until prompted through the reflection prompts. The audiobook narrator has a soothing voice, and the devotions were long enough to be impactful but short enough to be doable each day. One of the many quotes that has stuck with me is, "The art of living is to enjoy what we can see and not complain about what remains in the dark. When we are able to take the next step with the trust that we will have enough light for the step that follows, we can walk through life with joy and be surprised at how far we go." Thank you to NetGalley, IVP Audiobooks, and the author for providing an ARC of this audiobook.

As a caregiver I appreciate the helpful, warm encouragement offered in this devotional. It offers hope and many opportunities for personal reflection, in addition to the accompanying scripture. I am also thankful that the readings are short, and the narrator has such a calm tone throughout the audiobook.

Hope for Caregivers: A 42-Day Devotional in Company with Henri J. M. Nouwen, is a beautifully crafted devotional for anyone, as we are all either caregivers or will become a caregiver at some point in our lives. The depth of understanding the intricacies of the role of a caregiver, the challenges, the exhaustion, the fears, and the joys, are all developed throughout this devotional and substantiated with chosen scripture messages to provide the reader with a reminder that God is walking beside them in their journey of caregiving. I have been a caregiver for over 26 years, as well as being in a caregiving profession prior to my own personal story of caregiving. I also now find myself in a sandwich generation time where I am virtually providing some caregiving to my elderly parents, as they live in another state. Throughout my journey, I have at times felt worn out, scared, and like no one could understand my journey. This devotional provides that compassionate understanding to the caregiver and fills one with hope! I highly recommend this book to anyone, as we will all face the road of caregiving at some point in our lives. The audiobook version is spoken with a calm and peaceful tone, adding even more respite to the reader, if you choose that route.
Thank you for NetGalley and InterVarsity Press for the advanced review audiobook. All opinions are my own.
