What a delicious story of a woman, Dorcus, a simple mother widow and Ben, the Earl who saves her. The plot is well written, with a mean villain, an absent Duke and Mrs. Lyon, our famous matchmaker. It never occured to me some of the issues a woman faces when dealing with Ton children. That part was actually scary and I could understand her reaction. The third token scenario was priceless (no pun intended) and a nice surprise. Very sweet, very interesting, very worth the read! Great characters too!

I received this story for free and these are my own views.

Dorcas struggles to make ends meet for herself and her four year old son.
By happen chance, she is in the right place to save Mrs Dove-Lyon from a terrible carriage accident thereby earning three tokens to be redeemed for favors.
Dorcas runs afoul of her brother in law and Ben the Earl steps in to save her from the magistrate.
An intriguing love story between Ben and Dorcas begins as she figures out how to use her tokens for happiness.
Enjoyed the fact that it was connected to Ben’s sister in a previous Lyons Den story.
Highly recommend for the high jinks of the Den continues.

This was an exciting and entertaining love story. Deaths, murders, attempted murders, thieving, lying, action, intrigue, mystery, and many more emotional and dramatic issues that kept me engaged. I enjoyed the witty and humorous banter between the main characters. I also enjoyed how a surprising romance began despite everything. I recommend reading!

Dorcas Anderson, a young widow who was a camp follower during the war in the Peninsula, saves Mrs. Dove-Lyon's life. In appreciation, Mrs. Dove-Lyon gives her a box with three tokens. Each one to use for Mrs.Dove-Lyon's help. Threatened by her dead husband's twin brother, Ben, the Earl of Somerford, is sent by Mrs. Dove-Lyon to help her. Having known each other during the war, Ben admires Dorcas and her struggles to survive. Mrs. Dove-Lyon again makes her plans to maneuver the two into the position she holds as a matchmaker.
One of my favorite series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.

Fate, Masque Ball, Tinderbox Tokens:
A very unusual beginning for a Lyons Den story that has the Black Widow of Whitehall herself very involved in this edition to the Lyons Den series
Mrs., Lady Dove Lyon continues her deception and conniving ways to bring a marriage to this wonderful couple.
A charming story between Dorcas and Ben as they discover each other and find a heartfelt love match.
There are many hurdles to conquer along their way and the use of the tokens certainly helped, the care and protection of the ladies from the third floor, and the kitchen staff made this story very caring and enjoyable to read, bringing this story to a happy conclusion.
🤔Rating for me due to the passionless interactions between the couple. 3.5 rounded up to 4. Good story that could have been so much better with some emotional charismatic connections.

Dorcas - an Army widow, with a young son, who is struggling to make ends meet. She fortuitously saves Mrs. Dove-Lyon from serious injury or even death. Ben, an Earl whose sister is happlily married by Mrs. Dove Lyon's matchmakomg services. He is asked by Mrs. Dove-Lyon to intervene in Dorcas' false arrest. Thus our H and h meet again. Are they fated to be together? Who wants to harm her? Only those willing to risk it all will succeed! This is a clean romance and references characters in a previous book. However you do not need to have read it in order to enjoy this story of life's gamble on love,

Thrown to the Lyon by Jude Knight is a novella, short, but sweet. It tells of Dorcas Anderson who had married too early and followed her husband to war, where he was killed just days before his son was born. After his commanding officer (and her husband’s brother) refused her the money to return to England, she married a kind man, whom she did not love but took good care of her and her son until he also was killed. Now she took in embroidery to keep food and roof over their heads, until one day she was accosted on the street by the same brother-in-law and accused of theft and carted away to jail. Mrs. Dove-Lyon sends Ben, the Earl of Somerfield, to get her out of jail and bring her back to the Lyon’s Den where she invited them to stay for the meantime.

Dorcas could not figure out why Augustus was after her. She had done nothing to him. It didn’t take long for Ben to sort it out and to fall in love. It took a little doing to get them together but Mrs. Dove-Lyon always gets what she wants. It was a fun little story, a credit to Jude Knight who is an accomplished author. Good characters, good plot, and interesting ending.

I was invited to read Thrown to the Lyon by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #JudeKnight #ThrownToTheLyon
