I did have some trouble getting into this one. It's pretty dense for the first 30% or so. But the premise is great and once you get into it, it's super enjoyable!

SPOILERS ********

I am here for the epilogue! Four years later how the entire family is reminiscing how they all got married that year 1816, except for the twins, of course. Leona and Lawrence are 19. Bring on their stories, let's go!!
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

I really loved this book! I didn’t even need to read the previous books to get what was going on. It was a wonderfully thrilling historical (clean) romance!

Thank you to Dragonblade Publishing, Mary Lancaster, and NetGalley for this ARC!

A Fitting End to this Delightful Series.
Delilah is the mother figure and organiser of the family and at thirty a confirmed spinster. Making peace with that fact she agrees to go to a ball with her family and make her last dance a waltz with a man of her choosing. Little does she know that Lord Linfield has reasons other than her beauty for making her acquaintance and that she has become innocently embroiled in a murderous plot. I loved this last book but whilst it can be read as a standalone, readers will enjoy it more if they have read at least some of the other books in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a great story. Delilah is the eldest sister and takes care of everyone else while becoming a spinster. She's not even mad about it. Denzil asks Delilah to dance and things get crazy from there! Full of suspense and humor.
The only down side is there are ALOT of characters to keep straight.

Delilah, a self proclaimed spinster, has planned to have one last dance before settling into her life as a single woman. That was before she meets Lord Linfield who has other ideas for her! This was such a delightful story and you just never know what can happen in Blackhaven!

There is a lot of intrigue in this story, danger, assassination attempts, you name it, it's there. Amidst all of that, love blossoms but misunderstandings get in the way and one wonders if all is for naught. In true Mary Lancaster fashion, she weaves a story that will keep you on your toes and not want to put the book down until the end. Speaking of the end, all loose ends are tied up and love wins:)

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Delilah Vale has always taken care of the family, and at 30 thinks that she is firmly on the shelf.
She is convinced to go to the assembly and decides she wants one last dance. She meets Lord Linfield, who works for the crown, and he asks her to dance.
This story is full of intrigue, mystery, lots of interesting characters and has so many interesting twists and turns, it will make your head spin.
The chemistry between Delilah and Lord Linfield was wonderful, even with a few misunderstandings.
There are several interesting secondary stories about the Vale family that are going on at the same time.
I love the Blackhaven series!

An excellent conclusion to the series. I'm not sure how the author managed to collate the 7 different threads but this story helps to bring them all together.

Delilah has been more of a mother to her siblings and we learn that when her diplomat father was alive she worked with him as well. Denzil (not that fond of that name) is a diplomat trying to track down a traitor to one of the small hapzburg? principlalities and find that Delly is involved. He hopes she is a innocent bystander. We meet her siblings, his sister and of course the twins. Great read. Now I just wonder if the author has finished with Blackhaven?

Delilah is a spinster, born on the wrong side of the blanket but the de facto mother figure of all her Vale siblings.
She meets attractive Lord Linfield and decides one last flirtation and dance before she fades into her prickly life of spinsterhood.
Political intrigue, so many Vale characters and Blackhaven villagers that add volume to the story.
A tantalizing love story especially for the cynical Lord who falls hard for Delilah.
Adorable story, special love scene, amazing epilogue.

I enjoyed this story. The plot was more exciting than the title lets on, and became much more interesting after the slow start to the book, which introduced many characters. I read this book as a standalone and had no familiarity with the prior stories in the series, and while I thought the relationships between the Vale siblings very sweet, details of the other characters’ lives often interrupted the story when it didn’t feel relevant to true main plot. Linfield’s search for an assassin was the most intriguing part of the story, and by the time I got to the middle of the book I didn’t want to put it down!

I liked both Linfield and Delilah very much as characters - even though I was frustrated that he kissed her so passionately while still thinking she was a spy, and it was never clear to me how he knew she was the “spy.” The amount of time they spent unchaperoned seemed inaccurate for the setting, but I’m not mad about some kissing ;)

I was pleased that at the end of the story, everything tied together nicely and some characters proved more complex than they first appeared. I recommend this book to other fans of historical romance!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade for the free eARC. I post this review with my honest opinions.

Content notes: in this book, sex is discussed but not totally explicit. There is some language and very brief non-explicit violence.

Delilah Vale just wants one last dance before she puts hersel firmly on the shelf. Infield might just be the one to give her that last waltz. Linfield unbeknownst to anyone has come to town to solve a mystery which he hopes has nothing to do with the lovely Miss Vale.
A wonderful combination of intrigue and the Vales ongoing adventures have just fallen into place beginning with the assemble. All the older Vales have met someone all in one night.
Wow this series has had twists and turns and are so interconnected that you will want to read them all to see how the others received their happily ever afters. I love the way everything has been payed out and how well everything has been interconnected through the books. how families sometimes don’t just have one story to tell at a time but numerous adventures all at once. I LOVE IT!!
