Loved it! This was a quick, spicy read. It was all spice with just enough background and plot to keep you interested.
This book was a very short but fun read!
The steamy stuff starts right away and there truly wasn't much to the plot but given the category and length, that's understandable.
The beginning of the book was a tad hard for me to navigate as some things seemed a little jumbled together and time jumped around a bit but it eventually made sense. I love that the FMC felt like she could let go of her insecurities and worries with both MMCs but do wish there was a little more plot that explained how/why she could do this.
The spicy scenes were pretty fun to read and I think I discovered some things I might be curious about!
Overall, I enjoyed reading it.
Would I read again? No. However, if a full length was released, I'd happily give it a try!
Thank you netgalley and publisher for this e copy
unfortunately for me, the spice was ok, but idk, it didn't really reel me in, no character build up, just straight too it.
Didn't understand the characters. No back ground as to who or why. Didn't find it erotic sexy or funny. Didn't finish the book as got board waiting for something to happen. Sorry if I missed the point of this book.
I love a good smutty book but this was a bit boring. The story jumps right into the threesome with no character development or world building. Ended up not finishing.
I have many feeling about this book. To start with I get that this is a friends to lover erotic novella. But I feel like there wasn't much of a back ground to get to know the characters before we got into a spicy scene which kinda threw me off. The relationship was alright but we only got a small tidbit of how they new each other. The ending I absolutely loved. It was very sweet that was probably my favorite part of the whole book. When it came to non spicy scenes there wasn't much of a story t0 follow and you need more background stuff going on to have a storyline to go along with the spice. I feel like if it wasn't missing a background story and more details other that spicy I probably would have liked this a little more. I just couldn't connect with any of the characters because we really didn't know anything about them. It just fell kinda flat for me. I also felt that the spicy scenes were not very spicy for an erotic story. There was more say what they were wanting to do and not really following through with things. Like I said it just fell flat for me through the whole book.
3.5 rounded up: I quite enjoyed this short story, left me wanting to read more about these characters. I feel like I could've got more into the story if it was written in 1st person. And sometimes there was quite a lot of background info or extensive thoughts but not enough to know exactly what's going on. In my opinion it would've been nice if those parts were a bit longer so you really know what's happening, or just shorter so it wouldn't get me out of the vibes of the story. But all and all I enjoyed it!
“Take Two” is a smutty threesome MFM short story.
Sadly this just didn’t work for me, I wasn’t a fan of the plot or the dialogue.
Thank you to the publisher and the author for giving me a shot with this one, fingers crossed the next one is a success for me!
Publish date: October 8th
Theres a good balance between plot and spice in this story (sometimes I feel with short stories sometimes there can be too much of one and not the other)
I feel like were very much thrown into the middle of the story and i wanted a bit more backstory at the start but once we got more into the story i did start to enjoy it and like the short journey we went on with them
- friends to lovers
- MFM
- 3rd person pov
A short and spicy book that would be good for in between reads. This starts off spicy instead of building to it and is more smut than plot, so would be something to consider before reading. Due to this being a short story, parts felt quite rushed but that’s simply the nature of the beast
Cute and steamy short story. I do wish there would have been more depth of emotion and plot however with it being a short story there wasn’t much room for that.
Short. Spicy. Taboo. Quick.
Colt puts together a beautiful, very adult short story. It's got all the spice, wonder, characters and love. I found myself wanting more and more as I read on, but understood that it was a short story.
Colt gives the characters a spice level that is adult but not over the top. Young lovers exploring their relationship, only they don't have to choose. This thruple moves to NY to be with each other because they are all in, with both the sex and the relationship.
It was a beautiful short story. I will be looking forward to reading more from Ava Colt in the future.
Novella, SMUT > Plot, Friends to Lovers, Kink Exploration
I wish instead of having their conversation of after Anne's breakup in the middle of a present chapter is was written as it's own chapter or like as a prolog.
This was okay. It started off with all the spice and then I just wasn’t looking forward to reading the rest. I wish it didn’t start off with the spice. Yes, I know it’s a short story. But I wish it at least build to the spice a little bit. The story just felt way too rushed. And because of that I didn’t feel a connection with any of the characters. Overall, this would be a quick and easy read if you’re looking at hitting your reading goal for the year.
Two guys & a girl. School abroad. Short yet spicy.
I want to say short & sweet but more like short & spicy story.
If you keep in mind it’s a short story & want a quick read with some spice & a HEA. This book might be a good option.
Wasn’t expecting much for a storyline but for a short book to give a break between reads thats what I got.
This was very good for a novella, lots of spice, very good.
I will check out this author other work in order to do more reviews on Insta and Goodreads for her!
Short, spicy, and sweet! The spicy scenes were spot on, and there was just enough background and story that it wasn't completely smut. A lot of short stories feel incomplete but this one didn't feel that way. If you're looking for some spicy fluff, this is perfect.
Take Two by Ava Colt promises a steamy romance, but unfortunately, it doesn’t quite deliver. One of the biggest issues with the book is its length. The story feels rushed, and as a result, the connection between the three main characters never fully develops. With such a short page count, there’s simply not enough time for readers to become invested in their relationship or to feel any real chemistry between them.
While the book does include some intimate moments, even these scenes feel underwhelming. There’s no emotional depth or buildup, making them feel disconnected from the rest of the plot. Overall, Take Two might appeal to readers looking for something quick and steamy, but those seeking a deeper, more fleshed-out romance will likely be disappointed.
Unfortunately, this book, for me, was a swing and a miss. Personally , I did not connect with the characters nor the storyline. I felt the writing style was confusing and I the syntax at times was off. I felt the plot was rushed and didn’t flow. In this particular work, I found multiple grammatical errors which removes the reader from the world.
Normally, I am a lover of MFM/MMF, however this story just fell short for me. The characters lacked depth, their motivations were weak; if at all present. The “spicy” scenes felt awkward and stunted, the characters not living up to the potential of the things they discussed and wanted for and from each other.
Unfortunately on this occasion, I cannot recommend this book.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Take Two by Ava Colt is a spicy, fast-paced novella that delivers exactly what it promises—steamy MFM romance with just enough plot to keep things moving. Anne, Theo, and Nathaniel take their friendship to a thrilling new level, navigating intimacy and connection with chemistry that practically leaps off the page.
The story balances high heat with emotional depth, showcasing trust and affection between the trio. While it’s light on intricate plot, the short format makes it a perfect palate cleanser or quick escape into a fun, sexy adventure. If you’re looking for a sizzling read, this one won’t disappoint!
