3.5 rounded up. I think this was good but not necessarily great! There were some parts that I just feel like were a bit underdeveloped and sooooo many questions that were left open for the reader to fill and that not what I want with a book thats supposed to be a standalone.

Not what I expected this to be, but from the author’s note it sounds like she didn’t expect this either.

Obviously drawing inspiration from Taylor and Travis’ story, a pop star fresh off a breakup and a star athlete meet by chance and the sparks be flying. I loved their chemistry. I didn’t read the full blurb before picking up the book, I was hooked at “PR relationship between a pop superstar and pro-athlete” so I went in expecting a love story of wild fun and excess. What I found was a beautiful story of a phoenix rising from the ashes. A woman learning how to stand on her own after being kept and abused for so long. And learning how she deserves to be loved after a lifetime of transactional love.

Really appreciated that there’s no third act breakup. The story flowed, the writing was vivid, the characters could’ve been rounded out a little more but they were still full. I really loved her divorce lawyer, ice queen with a dry sense of humor is always a fun time. Can’t wait to read more from Myah in the future!

✨thanks to NetGalley for the ARC✨

I love romance books that revolve around pop-stars and Hollywood in general. Thankfully, this book hit all the marks I look for in a romance. The main characters had chemistry, the dialogue wasn't cringe, and they had lives and success outside of each other. I flew through this book in 2 sittings and recommend this for anyone looking for Romance that isn't just fluffy but also has substance to it!

When I first seen the author tweet about this book I immediately got excited. I am a sucker for the celeb trope in books or about entertainment in general. I believe we all set ourselves up for high standards when a book we are interested in is coming out and the best part is the anticipation. I have to say No Ordinary Love exceeded my expectations. Myah Ariel is a masterful writer. I was glued to every singe page and when I realized I was already 90% through the book I was very sad. I did not want the book to end. Ella and Miles was a story I loved reading and when the book gets released properly I will be reading again and again!

I really enjoyed this book! The baseball player meets superstar, but they meet in an unconventional way. The chemistry between them was off the charts, and it turned out to be a beautiful love story. Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for allowing me to read this book.

I loved No Ordinary Loved! Myah Ariel just gets better with her sophomore novel! I loved Ella and Miles. They were just right for each other. I loved their chemistry and their descent into the relationship. It was kind of a slow burn but while reading it all felt much faster but not in a bad way! I really enjoyed the characters both together and individually. Along with the cast of side characters.

I really enjoy Myah’s writing and am looking forward to reading more from her!

Baseball meets Pop star in Myah Ariel's newest novel. I can't lie but I liked this way better than the first book which frustated me to no end. But this was great. I just felt like the middle of the book slogged just a touch. But overall, good.

I liked Myah Ariel’s first book and I enjoyed this one too, but I don’t know if I loved all the Hollywood stuff in it. I liked the pop star baseball player angle but I felt like the entire book was very name dropy which got old quickly. I loved the voice notes and their chemistry, I did feel like it wrapped up too quickly at the end.

Myah Ariel has once again captivated readers with No Ordinary Love. Her storytelling is a beautiful blend of vulnerability and empowerment, weaving a narrative in which Black women rediscover the importance of self-love while allowing themselves to embrace love from others. Ariel's writing consistently reminds us that it's never too late to love yourself and pursue your dreams, even when the road ahead seems difficult.

If you were moved by When I Think of You, No Ordinary Love will give you all the feels. Ariel’s unique ability to craft heartfelt and inspiring stories shines through in this latest work.

I read Myah Ariel's debut book and was so excited to be able to read this ARC. I feel the book gets better with each chapter. In the beginning, I felt it was going a little slow, but I did understand why (we were building the story), and at the end I wanted more. It was so easy to fall for the MMC he was truly everything you'd want in a lead. And the FMC was amazing. I felt every emotion with Ella. I was sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated...you name it, I felt it. I loved Ella's friend group and her lawyer.

I want to know what happened with Jamie though...left me wondering.

I loved Myah Ariel’s debut novel When I Think of You, so I was so excited to read this one. I really enjoyed the feeling of this book- it had an R&B silky feel but I found the book to be slow and I wasn’t drawn to the storyline that much. I really liked how Ella’s journey of self- love but I found the slow burn between her and Miles to be a bit too slow for my liking. I feel like we don’t get alot of “celebrity love stories” so I enjoyed that aspect of it.

OMG!! I’m obsessed with this book! I even shed a tear! The story of Elladee and Miles was absolutely beautiful I didn’t even want it to end and I hope there’s a sequel!

Loved this book so much. 🥰 The MMC is a MLB player and the FMC is a pop star?! I loved the attention to detail when it came to their careers and even the bits of their individual back stories. I always appreciate when a romance can deliver more than just the relationship. I do wish we had could have replaced some flashback moments of Elliot and Ella to more moments of Ella and Miles together. The spicy bits I felt were paced well and the attraction Miles and Ella felt from the beginning was believable.

Also I really hope we get a story for Jamie and Gabe 😍😝💕

Thank you netgalley for the eARC. I will definitely need a physical trophy for my shelf 🏆

I enjoyed this book, Myah's debut was good and I thought this was even better. This is a single pov that follows the fmc, a popular singer, as she navigates separation from her husband, who was also her manager and producer. I loved the book's music scene and plot, especially because of all the Black musicians and songs named. I really liked that while this was a romance it also showed the strength of the fmc as she left an abusive relationship and tried to navigate the gaslighting that her ex put her through. This black romance was so sweet, tender, and sexual and I was fully immersed in it. Thanks to Berkley for this arc!

Love a depiction of black love and celebrity black love at that! Such a fun premise.
Appreciated how both MCs felt fully developed and interesting. However, why they're pushed together felt a bit hard to believe especially given how different their celebrity is.
I didn't love the flashback chapters, but appreciate it giving us a well rounded story and how the FMC found herself where she is.

Despite my hangups, feel like others will rightfully fall in love with this read.

I loved this a thousand times over. Ella was so relatable with her relationship mess and trying to figure life out in the midst of it. I truly loved Miles, Ella deserved an amazing man after everything she's been through. Ella's glam team (friends) were truly comical, and I loved all of them. They're the friends everyone needs in life. This was a beautiful story to read through and watch it unfold. Highly recommend!

I received this ARC from NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group to read/review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.

Thank you Netgalley for my ARC copy of No Ordinary Love. As a music lover and a fan of Sade, I knew this book would have my heart. I love romance novels that embody strength through the FMC without tearing her down completely! I don’t like struggle love tropes, and No Ordinary Love’s plot tells you exactly why it’s okay to start over, not settle, and rebrand. Our girl Elladee has the support system and overall strength to keep going even with her cheating ex husband tried to ruin her. Good things happen when you let love in. Overall i would rate this book at 4-4.5 just due to some gaps in the timing. Some parts felt slow and then the others faster, but i really enjoyed it!

There is nothing like reading a storyline in which you can envision yourself being there because so much of it is true to life for many people. There is nothing like a love story where love truly wins in the end. Stories like this make everyone want to find and have true love. This book was very well written. This is a must-read if you are a romantic at heart.

This book is everything and MORE!
The disability representation, athlete MMC + music artist FMC, and the homage to Sade Adu, were all so well done!
I’m not sure if this is considered a “sports romance” but if so, i’ll take another written by Myah Ariel, specifically!

I thought this book was written beautifully. I like how real world elements like songs and artists were added into the book. I like how it was a whirlwind romance but still felt realistic since it happened over a few months instead of a few days or weeks. I like the education about aspects of the music industry. I can picture certain actors as some of the characters.
