Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc! Overall I was kept intrigued and interested although about halfway through the book I was able to guess the twist. Some of the characters fell flat but I overall I enjoyed the book and Theo Baxter’s other works as well
I couldn't get past the writing style. The premise sounded great, like it'd be a solid 4 stars, but I was so distracted by the writing and the shallowness of the characters that I couldn't find a good connection to the story.
Overall this was a good book. Although I did figure out a few of the twists ahead of time, I still enjoyed the story. It was a fast-paced & engaging read.
Poor Elena Winthrop. A life altering event happens for Elena and she cannot catch a break after. Which affects her mental health big time. This book was full of suspense and made me feel really paranoid. I really enjoyed it. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this.
Drivel. Badly written and the main character is so unbelievably slow, in both senses of the term. 1/5 stars.
Buckle up, because this is one of the best psychological thrillers I have read since The Silent Patient. I was SO thrown off for how it ended. It was so good! The twists and turns from the very beginning to the very end. Theo Baxter, this could be a great netflix series! It was so good! Thanks for the great read.
This book was such an enjoyable read. It was abit predictable which is unlike his other books however it was still a thrilling read. Loved the plot and the character building. I could not put it down it.
I don’t know about you, but there’s something thrilling about finishing a book—you feel so invested in the story! Yet, when I close the cover, it’s like a fog rolls in and the characters’ names just slip away! No matter how hard I try, those names elude me! It’s almost a funny panic as I find myself frantically Googling them right before I write my review! 🤣
I’m still reeling from the emotional whirlwind that is *Lie To Me*, an ARC I snagged from NetGalley! Even in my dreams, Elena’s journey haunts me—her struggles, her heartbreak, and the way she lets the people she loves push her around. I found myself both infuriated and fascinated by her kindness! But oh, the moment she finally confronts the monster responsible for her suffering? Pure exhilaration!
If you’re ready to buckle up for a thrilling ride of emotions, mark your calendars for November 17, 2024, because you won’t want to miss this stunning book by Theo Baxter.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy, and all my thoughts and opinions are completely my own!

Really good book, couldn’t put down would recommend! Thriller kept me second guessing and just intrigued!
Elena is a successful author. Her husband is her manager, but she knows he is only with her for her money.
Her assistant, Lila committed suicide, and Elena is devastated, as Lila was her friend as well. She doesn't have many friends.
Enter Carlotta, who does everything for her. Could she have found the perfect assistant?
A creepy psychological thriller, with lots of twists and a massive twist in the reveal.
Elena seems to be a weak character who is easily controlled.
However, the plot was good, the twists great. I recommend.
Lie to Me by Theo Baxter is about a best-selling author named Elena Winthrop, who is at Stephen King's level of stardom. However, Elena has a life filled with grief and trauma that follows her to adulthood and manifests as anxiety attacks. She relies heavily on her husband, a cheater, and her personal assistant, Lila. But when Lila dies suddenly, Elena’s carefully controlled world begins to crumble—and things quickly take a darker turn.
Elena learns that her husband has been unfaithful. As if that betrayal wasn’t enough, disturbing gifts arrive at her doorstep, accompanied by chilling messages suggesting someone is watching her every move. Is someone tormenting her, or is she slowly unraveling under the weight of grief and betrayal?
Despite its intriguing premise, this book didn't quite hit the mark for me.
I thought the writing style was a bit too repetitive for me. Since the main character is a writer, I felt the lengthy descriptions of things like writer's block were a result of the author, not the character, experiencing these things. Additionally, while I understand that her anxiety and trauma made Elena who she was, I thought that the author started to rely on panic attacks as a way to tell me, the reader, the same information over and over again instead of showing me something new.
I like what Theo Baxter was trying to accomplish with his character, Elena Winthrop. I appreciate the depth of Elena’s character, and I felt the execution could have been tightened to enhance the overall impact. It would've been nice to see her have some wins earlier in the book so she isn't wholly defined by her trauma while eliminating unnecessary descriptions of mundane things that don't build Elena with something we don't already know.
Couldn't get past the prologue really didn't like it or the writing style. I might try again at a later date....

Reseña: 3.5⭐️
Lo disfrute aunque en momentos quería sacudir a Elena para que tuviera un poco de sentido común.
Someone is trying to drive Elena insane. And it’s working!! Great read!!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one!! This book had great suspense, murder, mystery, intrigue, action, juicy secrets, a crazy who done it and some wild twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and had me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley, one of my favorite authors, Theo Baxter and Inkubator books for sharing this book with me! Can’t wait for more!
Theo Baxter writes well and knows how to make characters very clear and tangible, with realistic dialogue and great pacing. For me, this book was very predictable and the main character was so annoying that I was almost disappointed that the baddie didn’t kill her.
