Wow. We’ve had a LONG lead-up to the end of this arc. While I’m glad I got to read it and see how this part of the story of Roshar ends, I’m not ready to walk away. I’m already looking forward to Book 6 and the beginning of the next arc. The Cosmere is just so expansive and wonderful. I’m so thankful that an author like Brandon Sanderson exists to give us these gifts from his imagination. There’s always another secret and there’s always another story.

******5 STARS!!!!******

Overall,
I have so much to say and things in my brain right now that this will likely not be a great review. What I can say is that Brandon Sanderson continues to deliver. This book is the end of the first ARC in the series (the first 5 books) and while it is one thing after another and very fast paced there were moments of levity and moments of joy. The character growth across all of these books is absolutely amazing. To think of characters as they were when we first met them in The Way of Kings to where they end up here is absolutely mind boggling. We get answers to many questions, as well as a broadening of the Cosmere. It was long topping out at over 1300 pages but it really did not feel that long because the story is so engrossing. I know that it is going to be another 6-8 years before we get to meet back up with these characters but man am I happy with how things ended in this book. So good.

I mixed my reading with physically reading the book and listening to it on audiobook. The narrators did a phenomenal job as usual.

Recommendation
If you are still on the fence about reading these giants of books, I would recommend dipping a toe in one of his other Cosmere books. It is worth it if you love fantasy, world building and excellent stories.

No surprises here, this narration is excellent. I don't know what magic gets put into the voices of Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, but I eat it up every time. They ARE the characters. This book starts off strong, even name-dropping some characters from other stories, which made me go 🤯
All in all, 10/10. Can't wait to read the rest!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the e-ALC excerpt!

Brandon Sanderson will always be a five star as will his audiobooks. His magic system is unmatched as are his characters and world building!

This is so good! The narrators are some of my all-time favorites and do an amazing job. Their narration really brings these books to life. I couldn't imagine this series without them. I can't wait to finish the rest now that it's available to buy.

A phenomenal start to conclusion of the first era of The Stormlight Archive. I am impressed by how intense this first quarter of the book is and am very excited to continue.

Ahhh I can't believe I got to read the extended excerpt before this book was available to the world. Brandon Sanderson is so good. I am happy and nervous to be back in this world, though. With it being the last book of the first story, ARC, we're going to be in for a wild ride. The characters have come so far since first meeting them in book one; everyone is so well developed, the world-building is still incredible, and the sheer detail that Sanderson puts into his work is unmatched. I think parts one and two set up the story so well, and I'm excited to see where it will go from here. I also will listen to Michael and Kate read their grocery lists. The way these two bring this book's characters to life is so well done. Listening to them narrate is the equivalent of a warm hug. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the book.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book. The only thing I can say is wonderful still wrapping my head around it.

Everyone's back for the culmination of the first cycle of the Stormlight Archives. Starting right where we left off, they've all come together to plan the final fight with Odium for the fate of Roshar and the Cosmere. Everyone gets a say, and there are even some new faces. This is Szeth's book, and I'm so excited to finally find out more about life in Shinovar.

While the book starts a little slow, by the end of day 2 everyone has their orders and is running on all cylinders. I was especially excited to see more of my favorite girl Lift, and even Gavinor has an appearance! Can't wait to read what comes next!

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading do amazing work, as always.

Thanks to Netgalley for access to this audio excerpt.

This is by far my most anticipated read of 2024, and so far it’s looking like Brando Sando is going to be able to continue maintaining the masterful world building and storytelling that the rest of the stormlight archives has had to offering.

Micheal Kramer and Kate Reading are master narrators, if a fantasy author is looking for a narrator or a team of narrators Kramer and Reading should be at the top of their list. Few Narrators are able to convey and characterize the variety of characters and emotions that they do. They are a pleasure to listen to and often elevate a readers experience with a book.

This excerpt lived up to everything that I hoped it would be. The narrators voice are matched so well with the characters and their voice inflections are perfection.
I found myself laughing so frequently with the banter between characters! I have missed them all so much!
The setup of the story helps to track time between the various points of view. I can tell that this is just the beginning of something amazing!!
I ordered the full audiobook and will be continuing the story now!

This excerpt was amazing. I am so excited to finish the book. It would not be a Stormlight book without Kramer and Reading. Great narration.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio for an advanced copy of the excerpt.

I have been looking forward to this all year and am happy to say that (so far) it does not disappoint! Sanderson is easing us back into this world with some beautiful moments with our favorite characters. I already teared up at least once! There's a lot of Wit, which is fabulous, and some interesting interactions (particularly Kal & Szeth, Lift & Gavinor, Renarin & Rlain). I am once again asking for more Jasnah....will have to keep reading to see if my wish is granted. As per usual, Michael Kramer & Kate Reading are phenomenal narrators that really bring this world to life. Kate Reading in particular does such a good job with differentiating characters. Even though it is a bit of a slow start (in a good way), the prologue packs a punch and things are picking up steam as we countdown to Dalinar's contest with the new Odium. Can't say much more without giving spoilers, but so far this is shaping up to be a five star read and I'm excited to continue!!

My thanks for the audio ARC excerpt goes to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio. I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Genre: Epic Fantasy
Readability: This is a series that must be read in order to have continuity.

Wow! WIND AND TRUTH is going to please fans. The world building is spot on and the progression of the characters is so satisfying. I won't say more because I want you to enjoy everything as this unfolds. Because the ARC was only an excerpt, I am waiting for publication like everyone else. I'm sure it is going to satisfy.

Yes, I fully recommend this book, along with the rest of the series.

Happy reading!

This was a great sample of one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year. I can not wait to see where the story goes from here.

I received an excerpt of this audiobook for my honest review. I have listened to the audiobooks of the previous books in this series and they have all been well executed. This is no exception. The narration is nicely done. As for the story- I know this is Sanderson’s longest book yet and it’s evident in this excerpt. The entire cast of characters is preparing for war, as well as Dalinar’s upcoming contest of champions. The first 30-ish chapters of this book consist of war strategies and espionage. Despite the lack of action in these scenes, it is in no way boring. I will definitely be purchasing the full audiobook and finishing the book soon. I already ordered a signed edition of the hardcover, so you know I’m invested in this story.

As usual, the multiple personalities of Shallan’s psyche are artfully executed. I noticed that Sanderson worked with a psychiatric specialist to make this as accurate as possible and it really pays off. Despite the high stakes and seriousness of the situation, characters like Syl and Lyft bring a much needed touch of innocence, light-heartedness and humor to the story. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of this story.

Thank you to Netgalley and MacMillan audio for the ALC of this book.

5⭐️1🌶

As always with The Stormlight Archive, this series is deliciously complex. I haven't found any authors, barring Robert Jordan and Tolkien, that can match Sanderson's level of complexity and world building. With multiple POVs, from characters we love and know, dark and twisted "evil" characters, and characters that are not even "human".

This epic tome starts off reiterating that Dalinar Kholin has challenged the evil god Odium to a duel between the two of them. If Dalinar wins, then Odium will leave Roshar, and the people and creatures of Roshar will be saved from the endless cycles of breaking and remaking the world. If Dalinar loses, then he must join forces with Odium in taking over Roshar and all the other lands he wishes to overtake.

The Knights Radiant, including Shallan and Kaladin are embarking on separate quests. Shallan is attempting to release an unmade in order to learn more about them, and at the same time trying to find a way to heal the broken and abandoned Shardblades in Shadesmar. Kaladin is set to travel with Szeth to release one of the Herald, Ishar.

Wind and Truth is said to be the last book in this story arc in the Cosmere Universe. Sanderson said he plans to do five more books in the Stormlight Archive series, but they will be a "separate arc," I'm not entirely sure what that means.

If you're looking to get into Sanderson books, I would recommend starting with Mistborn. It is an amazing book, while being much less complex that the Stormlight Archive series.

A Thrilling Taste of What’s to Come

Having just finished the extended preview of Wind and Truth, I’m more eager than ever for its release. From the very first chapter, Brandon Sanderson hooks you with his description of Roshar and all of the realms within the Cosmere . The plot unfolds with a perfect blend of tension, intrigue, and of course just the right amount of Wit, leaving just enough unanswered questions to keep you craving more.

What stands out most is the seamless weaving of themes between each of the view points we’ve come to expect, and a few new ones who will quickly become favorites. If the rest of the book holds up to this preview, it’s bound to become one of my favorite books of the year. I can’t wait to dive in fully when it releases.
