Oops, All Sanderlanche! The fifth full installment in The Stormlight Archive starts with the same propulsion that Sanderson is known for bringing to the end of his books. From the very first chapter, readers are treated to new revelations and an urgent reframing of the central conflict that makes this the biggest page-turner in the series since The Way of Kings. Thanks to the fine folks at Macmillan audio, I was able to read the first two parts of Wind and Truth, and I'm eagerly awaiting the rest.

Without going into spoilers, I'll say this entry has everything I have been hoping for as a longtime fan of the series. The world continues to expand in scope as our heroes grow in depth. There are references to other series, but they're organic teases that only heighten the realism of the world. Roshar feels like a lived-in place with a rich history. I'm thankful to spend a few more days in this world of Radiants before the long break leading up to book six. But don't fret the gap--I'm sure there will be years worth of discussion to keep us company!

Amazing storytelling again by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer. They do justice to Brandon Sanderson's characters. The prologue had me hooked from the very second. Can't wait to get my hands on the full book in less than a month!!

Ohh my god! How do you leave us with just a part of this master piece. I can’t wait to get the full book in my hands and rot on the couch with that door stopper. Szeth is the featured character I’ve been waiting for an I can wait for more!!

This is a review of the ARC extended excerpt, not the entire book. Absolutely no spoilers below! Thank you to MacMillan Audio, Brandon, and NetGalley; all opinions are my own.

Even without reading the ending, this is clearly a masterpiece. Each of the main characters steps into the spotlight, and I am blown away (and a more than a little sentimental) about how different they are than in Way of Kings. Stormlight's characters are so incredibly three dimensional, so flawed, so loveable, so human. I just could not stop goggling over how beautifully that journey has been done - for at least a dozen main and side characters! (I know you Shallan haters are out there, and I was one of you once, but let me just say... Homegirl is perfect. I absolutely love where her story has taken her.)

If you were worried, never fear: Brandon has held true to the noble Tolkeinian tradition of really, really long meetings! It does get pretty wordy, but we already knew that. If we didn't appreciate thoroughness, we wouldn't be here.

Also, at this point seems like we're really taking the mental illness bingo in stride; we could do a tandem read of Stormlight and the DSM-5. Not that I'm complaining. It feels like a feature, not a bug, and I'm getting a kick out of it. There's even a cute guy with hypochrondriasm / Munchausen syndrome, which is so rare to see represented respectfully. We love to see it.

Not a spoiler, but a preview: Roshar is incredible and mind-blowing in its conception and color - the physical realm, the realm, and... that's right... now the spiritual realm too. My mind has exploded. I love these books so much. The absolutely masterful creativity in the world-building here, in my opinion, is unmatched in the entire fantasy literature canon. (I said what I said.)

I've read various theories on how this book will end, and let me just say... I think Brandon has, too, because he's dropping foreshadowing for most of them. 😂 I'm losing my mind. December cannot come soon enough!!

He’s done it again!
So very worth the hype. I was lucky enough to listen to the first 15 hours of the ARC audiobook from Netgalley and IT WAS SO GOOD!!!
People, do the rereads!! In under 15 mins the cosmere was pulled in to the mix! There was so much I forgot. I’m going back and rereading the previous 4 books before I begin Wind and Truth again. The cosmere is amazing! What a time to be alive and get more Sanderson books!
Favorite author and favorite narrators, does it get any better than this?!!

Thank you NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and of course Brandon for the Audiobook extended excerpt read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading.

As this was only an extended excerpt (I think about halfway), I will update once I receive my pre-order copy and finish it. As of now, I have 3 separate pre-orders in!

This is my absolute favorite series and I can’t wait to find out what happens. Brandon Sanderson is an amazing writer and I love all of his work. So much so, I am one of his pledges on backerkit for the Words of Radiance project and I can’t wait for all of those products to start coming in.

There are no spoilers ahead.

I feel like halfway through there is a lot of build up to what the ending is going to be, but I have absolutely no guesses on how it’s going to end. He does an amazing job bringing each of the remaining characters to light and my how they have grown since the beginning. He has a great way of showing how human his characters are and their real life feelings and flaws and showing life is amazing and we all belong here! Ugh, I can’t wait until December to get my copy!!!

Thank you again for the opportunity to get a sneak peek, I appreciate it!

Um, this just made everything worse?

I need the full book! I cannot wait for Dec. I am so ready to see what's next for all these characters! And the first couple of chapters are so good!?!?!?

How do you start a review for this amazing excerpt, except for with a squeal of excitement for the rest to come. As always, the narrators do a phenomenal job and I cannot imagine anyone else reading these works!

Wind and Truth continues the journeys and growth of some of my most favorite literary characters. This is book 5 in a very substantial series, so please do not try to read these out of order. You really do need to understand where we have come from in the other books to know what is fully going on in this one.

Dalinar is preparing for a battle against Odium but quickly learns things may be stacked against him as the contract seems to have loopholes in favor of Odium.

Kaladin finds a new purpose in the empire after Dalinar relieves him of duty as the head of the Windrunners and asks him to help others who are finding it difficult to work through their own emotions and minds. Instead of being a doctor of surgery, his role as a therapist grows as he starts to work with Szeth on facing his internal demons and possibly an insane Herald along the way.

Shallan, Jasnah, Adolin, and so many others are also working on their own objectives and they are all incredibly important in their own ways. I don't want to reveal too much about what happens in the first 400 pages, but I will say the action seems to be rolling along at a great pace and I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of the book to finish what I expect will be another magnificent installment.

Finally seeing the prologue from Gavilar's POV, everything makes sense. It actually made me grab the first one and reread the scene. 10/10 there. After that, it was a pretty slow start. There are a lot of strings and plots that need to come together so it's understandable that we have to take our time with them. I'm still counting down the days until the book is fully out!

As always, the narrators are amazing!

"Reality warps around you, Kaladin. It always has. Promise me. If there's a promise, then we can make it happen."
He met her eyes, then nodded. "Drinks. Jokes. Laughter. At the end. I promise."

^this better be some good solid happy foreshadowing of my favorite trio making it to the end.

WHAT ELSE AM I GOING TO SAY BUT IT’S AMAZING?? Of course this is only the first two parts but damn I’m into it. I definitely have already cried at least three times. My theory brain is going crazy. I’m chomping at the bit even more for December now.

Even just the beginning—we start with a happy little Kaladin, a sight rarely seen. Despite the absolute rock bottom he hit in Rhythm of War, he’s already progressed so much. He’s actively pushing dark thoughts away, bonding with his men, trying to become Roshar’s first therapist. I’m so happy for Kaladin Stormblessed—boy deserves a breather. (Brandon please be kind to him.)

I’ve loved all of the POVs we’ve gotten. This is another aspect that’s common to the last 100 pages of each Stormlight book in the climax. It’s a noticeable change that, even though nothing too intense has happened, makes it feel like we are already in the finale because we are hopping between so many POVs. Which we are. This is it.

I’m so invested in this story. I’m loving the dynamic change up with the 10 days in parts instead of parts 1-5. It makes the final fight loom even more. After all the theories I’ve read, I’m starting to get more inklings of where it might be headed. There’s still so much more book left to go, and yet a part of me is STILL like “how will he get everything told.” I have utter faith in Brandon, and I’m hoping this will be the new favorite of the 5. Kate and Michael have done an incredible job as per usual on the audiobook. I always look forward to hearing their voices, to the point where upon rereads, the characters voices automatically become their interpretations.

Thank you so much to TOR and NetGalley for this full preview of Wind and Truth. I’m so hype for the full version!!

The Stormlight Archive is an investment. There are a lot of characters, a lot of words and a lot of complexity. You as a reader invest your time and in return get the kind of jaw dropping moments you can only get in a fantasy series of this scale. Wind and Truth is the fifth book in the series and the first climax of the projected ten book run. You can tell this immediately in the prologue when Brandon Sanderson starts dropping reveals that shake the foundations of the entire cosmere. There’s no time wasted moving into the plot and keeping things moving forward. In spite of this Sanderson manages to squeeze in moments that show how much his characters have grown on their journey since The Way of Kings. Though this excerpt was only (only??) sixteen hours it had enough content to fill in a book on its own. The narration is excellent and splitting the duties between two excellent voice actors helps keep this world from becoming too confusing for the listener. Brandon Sanderson knows how to write a finale, and this is shaping up to be one of his best.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced audio sample of this title in exchange for my honest review.

Fans of Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive series are going to love this final installment! The audio here is also a masterclass in narration and is some of the best I’ve heard to date. I’m excited to read the full book!

This is such a great continuation of the Stormlight Archive, and I seriously can’t wait to get the rest of the story! For the narration, Michael Kramer and Kate Reading's voices feel like familiar friends after listening to them narrate so many of Sanderson’s books. As always, they have done a fantastic job with Wind and Truth, bringing these characters to life and engaging their listeners with dynamic, emotive character voices.

I will only be reviewing a portion of the book as I received only an excerpt of the audiobook.
Stormlight Archive is my favorite ongoing fantasy stories with rich world building, compelling characters, and a well developed magic system.
The audiobook version is rich and immersive and the narrators do a good job in keeping the readers engaged.
I appreciate the focus on Szeth and Kaladin and have begun developing my theories for the conclusion of this first arc.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audiobook ARC!

It almost seems redundant and unnecessary to try to explain how much I've looked forward to this book. As the midpoint of The Stormlight Archive, a lot of revelatory story line is expected. And this extended except didn't disappoint.

However, more than the story, I found myself really enjoying the character developments that are happening in book five. If there was any doubt before that The Cosmere is meant to be a mirror on our own worlds, lives, and societies, Wind and Truth quickly clears that up.

Now I just have to wait until December to hear the rest!

Wind and Truth kicks off right after Rhythm of War, launching us into an epic countdown to some huge events in the Stormlight series. Sanderson’s world-building is as sharp as ever, with character arcs that really hit home. The narration is top-notch too, capturing the scale of Kaladin and Dalinar’s journeys perfectly. This feels like the start of a brilliant end to the first arc—can't wait for the rest of the audiobook!

Brandon can do no wrong and I need the rest now ... almost a month left and I'm just on the edge of my seat for this conclusion I don't want it to end

This is an excellent continuation of a wonderful saga, although I haven't been able to read the whole book I am positive this will please avid Sanderson fans. The narration is as always, exceptional.

Beyond excited for the culmination of this arc of Stormlight. Beautiful narration that conveys the greatness of this story. I cannot wait to get my hands on the final copy and to see where Kaladin's adventure takes him and the culmination of Dalinar V Todium.
