A rhyming board book that looks at the new life spring brings out of the seemingly deadness of winter, and how this can remind us of Easter and how God conquered death.

The illustrations in this are cute. The text is succinct but draws the allegorical points well, and the rhyme is well done. Recommended to Christian families, schools, or Sunday schools for an Easter season read.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The was a pleasant children's read!

I have listened to some of the writer's music, but had never read one of her books.
She did an excellent job depicting the joy in the newness of the season of spring, while also telling of God's love for us and Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection so we could have new life in Him.

-Negative Content : (very minimal)-
▪ The only thing was, some of the little girls' outfits were just a little bit short.

Other than the one thing, the book was wonderful!

Many thanks to the publisher for the complimentary e-book copy of this book that I received to review through Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review, and the thoughts above are my own.

This book is absolutely darling! Ellie knows how to write the most impactful, and fun childrens books. I taught preschool for five years, and now have four kids under six, and I wish I had this teaching. But I’m so happy to have this for my kids to read over and over. Wonderfully done! God blessed you with a wonderful talent.

"Have you ever heard the spectacular song that the earth sings each year when the Spring comes along?"

This is a charming board book with colorful illustrations of a diverse group of children and cheerful animals joining in the song of Spring.

"The trees dress in brilliant ballgowns of green and dance to the life-giving song of the Spring."

🌿🌿🌿

"Christ died, but He's risen indeed! And the Spring sings about it, every flower and seed."

🌿🌿🌿

"Every bird, every bloom, every bright butterfly sings a song of God's love that brings all things to life."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.0 out of 5.0 stars
The text starts off weak but it does build up strong to share the gospel and point to Christ's work on the cross. I love the message and the artwork but there is something about the personification "the Spring" that feels off to me.

💫 If you are looking for a heartwarming and beautiful board book for Spring, this would be a great one to add to your Easter collection. The artwork is truly stunning and the message is inspiring.

The illustrations are colorful and bright! I mean there is a fox blowing bubbles. 🦊🫧

Book Review: Spring Sings by Ellie Holcomb, Illustrated by Laura Ramos

Rating: 4 Stars

I recently picked up Spring Sings by Ellie Holcomb, with illustrations by Laura Ramos, and it was an enchanting experience from start to finish. The book invites readers, especially the little ones, to join in the joyous symphony of spring—a season that brings a sense of renewal and delight. Drawing on the themes of Easter and the beauty of God's creations, Holcomb crafts a narrative that encourages us to find joy in the simple gifts of life, reminding us that each bird's song and every blooming flower is a testament to divine love and rejuvenation.

One of the first things that caught my eye was the book's delightful cover. It perfectly sets the tone for what's inside, with its charming depiction of springtime. The illustrations by Laura Ramos are nothing short of breathtaking. The pastel palette she employs captures the essence of spring—vibrant yet gentle, filled with life and wonder. Each page is a visual treat that complements Holcomb's lyrical storytelling, making the book not just a reading experience but a feast for the eyes as well.

For families who celebrate Easter, this book is likely to become a cherished favorite. It's not just a story; it's an invitation to fall in love with the holiday all over again. The narrative is sweet and uplifting, perfectly suited for children who are just beginning to understand the significance of Easter and the beauty of spring.

Moreover, Ellie Holcomb has also released children's music as a companion to this board book, which adds another layer to the experience. It's a wonderful way to engage children even further, allowing them to immerse themselves in the themes of the book through song.

In summary, Spring Sings is a beautiful celebration of spring and Easter. It's a book that both children and adults can appreciate for its heartwarming message and stunning artwork. If you're looking for something to brighten your child's day or introduce them to the joys of spring, this book is definitely worth adding to your collection.

Right away, I knew this book would be a winner. If you’ve ever read one of Ellie Holcomb’s children’s books or listened to any of her music, you know she excels at sharing biblical truth with young kids in a way that is both beautiful and easy for them to understand. The illustrations in Spring Sings are just as stunning as those in her other books, and the text itself is the quality I’ve come to expect from her as well. This new book focuses on the promise of new life that we celebrate at Easter because of the good news of Jesus and the way the earth reflects God making all things new each spring. Spring Sings is going to be a perfect Easter basket gift, though I foresee us reading it all season long!

This is a sweet children’s book. I didn’t realize it had a religious aspect, which was completely fine with me, but may not be what others are looking for. The pictures are very pretty and support the message in the text.

There are three main things that I like about this book:
1. The plot/organization. Everything was timed perfectly, and each plot point fit very nicely with the others. Every organizational choice made a lot of sense, and this allowed the story to flow really well, without feeling rushed.
2. The illustrations. The pastel colors beautifully captured the wonder and life that comes with spring and the Easter season. Kids that celebrate Easter will definitely enjoy this story and likely fall in love with the holiday even more. Additionally, the "bustling" feel/vibe of the illustrations allows the overall book to have a lot of energy, which makes perfect sense for the topic.
3. The meaning. The author uses something superficial and simple (spring) to connect to a deeper meaning of things not lasting. Winter is something that can be dark and dreary, and the author teaches young readers that it will pass soon enough when spring arrives. Kids will be able to apply this idea to so many other things in life, which is great!

Another BEAUTIFUL children’s book by @ellieholcomb! We own all of Ellie’s books and I can’t wait to add a physical copy of this to our library.

Spring Sings is the perfect book to add to your spring collection or Easter basket! It focuses on what nature shows us in the spring and how it all points to the Creator. With a gospel message explaining Easter all wrapped up in beautiful rhymes and illustrations, it’s perfect for little readers as they learn about seasons, how God made the earth, and what Easter is really about. Plus, I can’t wait to see what music Ellie will release to go with this book like all her others!

Spring Sings is a short rhyming picture book about spring and the Easter season. It takes a religious angle, so be cognizant of that. The illustrations are colorful and it's short enough to hold the attention of younger readers.

Thanks to B&H Publishing and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

Thanks to Net Galley and B&H Publishing for the ARC! Great illustrations! The book has a great flow with rhyming stanzas. It gives an overview of what happens in the season of spring. It also has an element of God. I go into books blind so I did not know there was the God element. However, I think it was implemented tastefully.

A Smile of a Book-

I smiled the whole time I was reading this book! A must-read in anticipation of spring and Easter.

This board book delivers everything it promises and so much more. I imagine Ellie Holcomb singing her way through this celebration of spring and our risen Savior. The rhyming text flows like sweet lyrics to a song as the reader brings life to each page. The illustrations are bright and busy, giving much to talk about with a 2-5 year old. Another win for B&H Publishing!

I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

This is a beautiful book that makes you feel like you're in nature. The whole world wakes up again in spring. This is an Easter book, for people who enjoy getting books for special times. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

This is a beautiful book for kids about spring, with great illustrations. The story also reminds them of the most important thing we celebrate in spring--Jesus's resurrection!!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-copy of this book! All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

The rhyming text and message in this book are beautiful but like most good picture books the illustrations really make it sing! I love that the full-page illustrations are full of detail. I can imagine looking with a child for specific things or talking about the many things going on. Some of the animals are portrayed with a bit more anthropomorphism than needed in my opinion (groundhogs underground reading books, moles with a calendar on the wall in their burrow) but not every animal or scene is so cartoon-ish. I know kids wouldn’t mind and could actually be a good commenting point about how it’s silly. The book has a strong Easter message and would be a great gift at that time but could be enjoyed anytime in winter or spring. Though I got the eBook to review I’m planning to purchase a copy to send to my great nephews and niece when it comes out in February 2025.
Thanks to NetGalley and B&H Kids for an early copy to read and review.

So Spring sings the song. "Death isn't the end. God loves to make everything new again!

There is a sweet anticipation in Spring. A newness of life. This children's book offers hope, redemption, and the promise of God. A good word to share with your children.

A special thank you to B&H Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

A simple and beautiful explanation of how Christ and the resurrection are reflected in nature.

With the rhyming pace and captivating illustrations we’ve come to expect from Ellie Holcomb’s books, even the youngest readers will be immediately drawn in.

Ellie shares simple truths that draw our attention to the reminder of who our creator is that are seen in nature. Her books and songs build a chorus in our minds that will be brought back to mind as we are in nature. Sealing those seeds of truth deep in all of our hearts.

This book will make a perfect Easter gift and will be one to revisit each year as spring blooms.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I thought that this book was excellent and I have recommended it to the Catholic Primary School that my daughter attends - this would be a brilliant addition to their library and one for the class to read together - it is engaging and encourages them to sing and get involved.

The book is well written, it is easy to follow and it has some lovely illustrations too.
It is a great concept that is really well executed - a treat to read!

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!
