Book 7 in the Agent Tori Hunter series. Reads best if you read the entire series, but probably would work as a stand alone. You would just miss the dynamics of the police force.
Tori has been on her break for several months when a child is abducted. Will calls her and she runs right to work- despite being in a blizzard. But the scene is unsettling to her- it doesn't make sense. It is too obvious. Can she figure it all out and save Teddy before it is too late?
This was a bit of a different investigation for Will and Tori. I enjoyed it being different, but also didn't enjoy it because the concept is too real in today's reality of sovereign citizens.
I hope the series continues, as I love reading about Tori and Will, Steak and Eggs, etc...
Kate Handford narrates again. She has narrated the entire series thus far. I like her tone, but as in all previous books, mispronunciations are somewhat common. A few per book.
I received an advance audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

Warning: YMMV
This book has been very well received so far, so the following opinion might be unpopular. If you’re new to the mystery/thriller genre, this book might be your jam. But if like me, you’re an aficionado, then I think there would be little here to keep you interested.
The author’s works are quite popular, but I’ve decided they’re just not to my taste.
This is my second book in the Tori Hunter series and although there wasn’t as much filler as in Silenced Girls (the first in the series) there was still no lack here. I found myself zoning out numerous times, and most disappointingly, once during an action scene that initially had me nailed to my chair. The chase began so well, but being dragged off into characters thoughts and myriad directions, slowed the chase so much that I zoned out. When I caught myself thinking of other things and dragged myself back, the chase was still going, and the characters were still receiving directions.
I read for interest and/or entertainment. Sadly, this book catered little to either.

I have to thank NetGalley for turning me on to the Tori Hunter series. The series isn't new, but the audio versions are and that's my jam! And this is the newest edition of the series. Tori is such a smart and strong female protagonist. This book focused on a case with many layers - a handful of murders, a child abduction, even a bombing and assassination worries too. All in a lot of snow. I felt cold just reading it! I can't wait to get my hands on more of Tori's stories.

Tori Hunter is called in to help with a mother is found shot to death and her son missing. His biological father then gets a ransom call and the book takes off from there. What is the father involved in? Will they find his son? It was a good book. I think I am getting burned out from all these murder mystery series. They all kind of seem the same and you can really jump to the back to find out the ending.

A Blizzard is on the way but that won’t stop a killer from taking the lives of two people and kidnapping a boy named Teddy! Hold onto your hats folks, because things are about to get dicey! Taken in the Cold is gripping, shocking, well thought out, captivating and tense. I loved the atmosphere. There is something about books which take places in snowy settings that get me every time. I love the chilling atmosphere and tension it provides. This book has a pulse pounding mystery and I was there for it every step of the way.
In Taken in the Cold, Agent Tori Hunter and Detective Braddock have their hands full. There is more going on than meets the eye in this book. As they dig deeper and follow leads, they learn that there is more to be learned as embezzlement also comes into play.
I loved the mystery and the investigation. I enjoyed getting both of their perspectives as they did their investigative work. This is not an easy case, but they pour everything they have into it. I love a well thought out plot and Roger Stelljes nailed it! He had me turning those pages, fully invested and wanting more.
This worked very well as a stand-alone book for me. I have recently listened to the first book in the series, Silenced Girls and thought it was extremely well done. It piqued my interest and when I saw this book was coming out, I jumped at the opportunity to read Taken in the Cold! I was thrilled that I did. I found this book to be well written, well thought out, perfectly plotted and full of tension.
I had both the audiobook and the kindle edition of the book which made for a fully immersive reading experience. I thought the narration on the audiobook was very well done. I am looking forward to reading more of Roger Stelljes books in the future!
Gripping, tense, atmospheric, and riveting!

I cannot get enough of this series! There is just something about Roger Stelljes’ writing style that leaves you wanting more.
Although you can read this as a stand alone, I fully recommend reading the full series! Full of action, twists & turns, you won’t be able to put this down!
I was lucky enough to receive ARC both as an ebook & an audiobook meaning when I couldn’t physically read I could listen, so I really couldn’t put this one down & finished it really quickly. I thought the narrator done a fantastic job & kept me engaged the full time.

A tale in two parts, when you reach the end of the first thrill, you only get a few moments to catch your breath before the second nerve-wracking part of the story begins. With quality narration and a twisty tale, this may be book seven, but it feels as fresh as the first,
