The mystery of the Stone family and their dead patriarch continues with The Forgotten One where we meet Max, the brother the stone siblings never knew about. His life story is as different from theirs as could be, but from the moment they lay eyes on him, they know he’s their brother. Max was abandoned by both parents and grew up in the foster care system until he aged out. Now a construction worker, Max has found his place in the world until his siblings walk into his life and upend his life. Sarah on the other hand is a reporter who wants to make a career telling real stories and not gossip. They share a meet-cute after her boss tasks her with covering Max’s story, and as the story progresses, they become friends which becomes more. Their love story is sweet. In audio, this story is masterfully narrated by Meg Sylvan. She does an impeccable job of giving each character a unique voice, but also carries over nuances of her performance in the previous book. I really hope she is able to continue narrating this entire series.

This story is a family saga with a sweet love story that is mostly closed door. I really enjoyed the dynamic and eventual love story between Max and Sarah. Overall, Max was a character that was so easy to love. He is a good guy and I adored how Chase and Alex worked to bring their brother into the family and passed on what he deserved as their brother. I also adored Sarah’s drive to write real stories, her dedication to only telling the truth, and her willingness to help Max uncover the mysteries of his past. At one point toward the end of the story, I was cheering for her when she took a stand for her beliefs. What a moment. This book was a great story to cozy up with and enjoy from start to finish. While I usually prefer steamy romance, I didn’t miss the heat at all in this book. The twists and turns of the plot kept me engaged from start to finish and I can’t wait for Alex’s story to be told.

I was REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ONE AND IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD!!! I absolutely loved Meg as the narrator! She’s absolutely awesome with everyone’s voices and I couldn’t listen to it fast enough!!

The compelling story about Max really pulled at my heart. And the chemistry between Max and Sarah was so fun because they had such great light hearted flirting and banter 😍. This is what makes great rom coms! But there were definitely moments of heartache that made me hold my breath….

URGH!! And now I have to wait until NEXT YEAR FOR BOOK 3!!!! I cant wait to read about Alex and how this story will all pan out!!

I absolutely adore this family, their dynamic together, and their sense of humor. Max is a very welcome addition and I love how Chase and Alex completely accept him and show him what it means to be family. The love story that develops between Max and Sarah takes a lot of trust and I was happy to see it work out. I also enjoyed getting to see Chase and Piper's story continue as they await the birth of their first child together. I listened to the audiobook as I read the physical copy and had a totally immersive experience. The narration is excellent and I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Wow! I love books like these. And I have been fan of Catherine Bybee's for quite a while.

Max grew up in the foster system. He's an adult now, a large equipment operator. He gets a visit, find out he has a brother and a sister and he's a billionaire? Can that be right? He doesn't think so, and runs them off!

Many thanks to Net Galley and Brilliance Publishing for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Stars. I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Meg Sylvan. The narration was very good and left me no doubt about which character was which. It was a pleasure to listen to.

Max is his own man. He aged out of the system and was pretty hardened to it. When he suddenly inherits lots of money from a father he didn't know about, he quickly discovers that the most valuable thing he has inherited is a family.

Sarah is struggling to get the career she wants and has started as a writer for a tabloid. When she is set on Max's story, she isn't willing to write untruths and the two quickly strike a bargain. The bargain quickly becomes more as they act on their attraction.

I'm really not into billionaire books, but these people were regular, good people and the story was wonderful.

Thanks to Brilliance Publishing and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

Yes! Loved this book so much!

Tabloid reporter Sarah hopes for so much more—a real writing career where she’s not pressured to print lies. Luckily, her propensity for truth lands her a coveted assignment: figure out who Maximilian Smith is and how he’s linked to the billionaire Stone family.

Working guy Max pulls into his driveway one day to find three strangers in a dark SUV waiting for him. They tell him he’s their long-lost brother and heir to billions of dollars. He doesn’t take it well… Max and knows the media will put everything together soon and it’ll be madness, so he wants the story to come out on his terms. Can Max trust Sarah with it? From the (not so) meet-cute to their interactions after, he really thinks he can.

What a beautiful and heartfelt story of family, love, trust, and the twists life can take. You get not only Max and Sarah’s love story, but the joy of finding a family you never knew you had. For Max, the theme of trust runs so strongly through the book. His mother abandoned him as a toddler and took off (yet still accepted lucrative child support payments, not winning Mother of the Year anytime soon), leaving him to the foster system. Many abusive homes and bad situations later, Max made it to adulthood and a sense of security. But trusting people or getting close to them? No thanks. Until now. Maybe.

Slowly, his new siblings and Sarah start breaking some of his walls down, and it’s a journey with so many feelings, the good and the bad. Some nice steamy moments too! I was drawn in from the beginning and really rooting for these characters. Also loved that there was a solid plot beyond the romance.

I haven’t read the first book in the series but still adored this one! Definitely going back to read All Our Tomorrows though.

I loved book one in this series, where we first meet the Stone family siblings, Chase and Alex. After the death of their awful but mega-wealthy father, the siblings are not only instantly wealthy but also learn they have a half-brother out there.

Enter Maximillian Smith, a blue-collar worker whose world has suddenly been rocked. He learns he is rich and now has a family. Reporters and the media are also hounding him, and if the slant on the story is wrong, it could hurt Stone Enterprises. One reporter, Sarah McNeilly, is determined to tell only the truth.

Much like the first, this book is filled with sharp elements of business and heartwarming family dynamics. And just like I adored Chase and Alex’s sibling banter, it only triples with Max added into the mix. Chase and Piper’s romance continues to take the next steps, and now Max and Sarah fan the flames of love.

I cannot wait for Alex’s turn at love because she is a powerhouse!

🎧 I loved pairing the audiobook with the physical book. Meg Sylvan’s narration was rich and immersive. I was so thankful for the audiobook when I didn’t want to put the book down but was on the go.

Thank you @catherinebybee for the gifted book.
