I have been a fan of Ms Foster's work for a while but with this read I have mixed feelings.

In this new story, Destiny starts her new proposal business and restarts her life after the death of her father in a new town with new friends. She meets the grumpy professor Ryan when her first client's proposal goes off the rails. In a moment of kindness, Ryan helps Destiny with getting her business organized and off the ground only more happens between the pair.

My first issue and it has been an issue in other books of Ms Foster's is that there are a lot of supporting characters that seem to be introduced all at once at the beginning of the story since after a while they are all interconnected. With this right off the bat, it can be a turn off as it does get confusing trying to keep track of all of the characters.

My next issue with this story is that I felt that Destiny was a little naive with her business. Who does not think of contracts or insurance when starting a business??? This is before we even discuss the events that happen with her first client and let's not get me started there. She put a lot of work into creating an unrealistic list of the perfect man for her but not a business that will eventually support her?? I could go on here for a while but I will not and this is before I get to all of the good deeds that she feels she must do for others - don't get me wrong good deeds are good but when they are constant they make me question if they are genuine.

Now onto the hero. Mr Grumpy was wayyyy too nice in this situation after the events of that first client of Destiny's. Even though he knows her from the dog grooming place he just steps in to help solve her problems even after having previous interactions with her with his beloved pet when she wouldn't follow client directions (making me question her customer service also). He spends a lot of time not wanting to be in a relationship but doing relationship things for her - pick a lane man!!

The chemistry between the characters was undeniable but the plot of the story was pretty dull. I had a hard time wanting to finish the story because I could not believe someone could be as naive as Destiny and still be at times considered a functioning adult.

Overall, I don't think this was the story for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the ALC of The Mr. Right Checklist, in exchange for an honest review.

The Mr. Right Checklist by Melissa Foster is a fun, light romance told from two points of view. It’s part of a series, but you don’t have to read the other books to enjoy this one.

Destiny, the main female character, is a total joy. She’s lively, and strong, and went through some tough times but kept going. I loved her. Ryan, or "Fletch," is the classic grumpy guy, but he’s also super charming and so easy to fall for. The chemistry between them was amazing. Melissa did a great job showing how their romance grows in such a sweet, natural way. It’s the little things they do for each other that show how much they care. Some moments between them made me get a little teary-eyed.

I loved the parts of the book with the adorable animals. They were cute and funny, and they played a big role in the story and the romance.

The “checklist” idea felt a little repetitive at times. It was used a lot to keep the characters apart. However, the wedding proposal business added a nice touch, bringing in even more romantic moments, especially for other characters.

The narrators did a great job of bringing the characters to life. The romance is fun, with the classic “grumpy meets sunshine” vibe and a little bit of “opposites attract.” Overall, The Mr. Right Checklist is a fun listen/read that I highly recommend.
4.5 Stars!

3.5 stars! This was an easy and quick romance read, with great banter between the two main characters, but at times the dialogue would just be cringe. I also think this book had too much dialogue in certain parts so then it just became annoying. Overall, I feel like the characters and the plot were entertaining however, even though the characters had great banter, the romance just really lacked in this book.

I really, really enjoyed this opposites attract, grumpy sunshine, friends to lovers, fake dating romance between Ryan 'Fletch,' a hot divorced professor and his dog groomer, Destiny who is trying to start up a marriage proposal business but needs a lot of help. Fletch offers to help Destiny get her ducks in a row if she'll help him by posing as his girlfriend at his brother's wedding. The more time they spend together, the more they fall but will Fletch be willing to take another chance on love and can Destiny reconcile her perfect man checklist to match him? LOVED THIS one!! It was great on audio, had a fantastic cast of characters, fun pet sidekicks, lots of swoony moments and steamy scenes. 10/10 recommend. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗿. 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 by Melissa Foster is such a fun, cute rom-com. I love when books take place in upstate NY, and the fictional town of Harmony Pointe was a quaint and perfect setting that reminded me of my hometown. Destiny and Fletch get off on the wrong foot, but once they decide to help each other out, sparks start to fly. They’re both so relatable, with Destiny holding out to find her Mr. Right, and Fletch a divorcee who has sworn off relationships. Fletch’s dog Molly completely stole the show, and I love when that happens in books. I loved the parts that focused on Destiny building her dream of becoming a proposal planner, which sounds like such a fun job! And the way Fletch helped her and supported her, and talked to and about her parents 🥹 She lost both of them, and the grief she deals with added another layer.

🎧 Overall this was a great story, and was made even better when paired with the audiobook. I loved the performances by Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood. Sebastian played the part of the grumpy professor perfectly, and same for Savannah as the sweet, southern, love obsessed Destiny.

I devoured this book in less than a day! It was a quick and fun read but also full of heart and emotions. Destiny and Fletch are both likable characters that were easy to fall in love with. I also really liked Fletch’s family. This book has great banter and the chemistry between Fletch and Destiny is off the charts! It is a little bit of a slow burn but I loved watching these two become friends first. There is a little bit of miscommunication but it wasn’t bad and didn’t take away from the story. Overall this was a very enjoyable read!

I listened to the audio as I followed along with the ebook. Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood both did an amazing job portraying Fletch and Destiny. They really brought the story to life for me!

The second standalone in Melissa's rom com collection, this one brings us grumpy x sunshine at its best. Destiny is a dog groomer with a dream of starting her marriage proposal planning business. She loves her furry clients, especially Molly, who belongs to "Grumpy Gus". Leave it to Fate that Destiny's first (and failed) marriage proposal will involve Grumpy and Molly! One disaster of epic proportions but that will lead Molly and Fletcher to finally know each other.

Fletch has given up on love, but he decides to help Destiny with her business and she'll help him by going to his brother's wedding as his date. This way they'll stop harassing him into "finding someone" again. As the weeks go by, their arrangement turns into a steamy "situationship" with them becoming integral parts of each other other's lives. However, Fletcher doesn't tick any boxes on her Mr. Right Checklist and Fletcher doesn't even have a list... Maybe the stars will align and make them see they never needed any list.

A very sweet yet spicy rom com that has some laugh out loud moments. If you are familiar with  Melissa, you will see some beloved characters from Harmony Pointe show up as Fletcher's best friend is Talia Dalton. I loved catching up with them!

This book is exactly what it proposes to be: a fun, heartwarming ode to love. I loved how Destiny can find a silver lining in everything. Fletcher thinks he's closed off to love until hurricane Destiny comes tearing down his walls.

Perfect for the fans of grumpy X sunshine romances with the signature secondary characters that Melissa does so well as well as the lovely fur babies! Grab a blanket, a cup of cocoa and enjoy!

AUDIO REVIEW: Narrated by Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood, who are perfectly cast as the grumpy professor (and no one does grumpy better than Sebastian!) and the peppy, there is always a silver lining wedding proposal planner. They bring these characters to life brilliantly! A great audio experience!

Thanks, NetGalley, Brilliance Audio and Melissa for the ARC.

Content notes: mentions of loss of parents, cheating (not MCs)

3.5

Grumpy dog owner & professor
Sunshine dog groomer & proposal planner
Small Town
Fake Dating
Meet cute -ish
Rom com
Short third act breakup
Dual 1st pov

This was cute but had one too many things that irked me and took me out of the story. First our MMC had FOUR names he was called by. How on earth do I keep things straight when he gets called 4 different things?! Especially when we are getting backstory on multiple side characters as well.
We get TWO meet cutes... I think we could have done with one.
I appreciated the third act breakup being very short.

Audio by Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood is done really well! My favorite part!
Thank you NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing Brilliance Audio for the ALC.

I am a fan of Melissa Fosters work but unfortunately this one didn't hit the spot for me like some of her others. The story was enjoyable but the FMC came across a bit childish at times and a bit OTT which took me out of the story unfortunately. I'm sure alot of people will enjoy it but sadly it wasn't one for me.
I can't fault the narration. I have listened to both narrators before and enjoy them. They both did a good job with the characterisation.

Just finished reading The Mr. Right Checklist. It was an awesome listen. I absolutely love most books narrated by Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood but when the book is also interesting and engaging it makes it an awesome listen. This book was the story of a young woman, Destiny Amor trying to make her way in the world working as a dog groomer and a marriage-proposal planner. She has a list of attributes she is looking for in her forever guy and of course when she meets her forever guy he doesn't meet most of them.. In steps the cranky, divorced, jaded forever guy Ryan "Fletch" Fletcher with an adorable dog she loves. He has some wicked business skills and they collaborate to help him have a "girlfriend" when needed for a wedding and to get his family off his back, and he helps her get her proposal business off the ground. The 8 hour read was a joy. It had a lot of ups and downs. I laughed out loud several times. This book needs to be on your reading list!

The Mr Right Checklist, checked all my boxes. This was the book I didn't know I needed right now, it got me out of the little funk I was in. It was absolutely charming, adorable, sweet, spicy, heartfelt, emotional, romantic, it truly encompassed everything I look for in a romance book. I was absolutely hooked straight from the start, the characters were so endearing and loveable, add on some freaking adorable pets and I was an absolute goner. For me the love story and every little thing encompassed, the little attentions, all the details Melissa put into this book made for a masterpiece of a romance.

Destiny is an absolute joy, a little firecracker, I adored her with all my heart. She was so easy to love, to empathize for, she went through some hard things but she pushed through. Ryan “Fletch” is the epitome of a grumpy hero, but absolutely charming and oh so sexy, impossible not to fall for. Their chemistry was absolutely off the charts, the way Melissa created their romance and made it blossom was absolute chef's kiss. All the little subtle ways they show each other they care and love one another is the most beautiful thing. There were so many spectacular moments between these two, I even had teary eyes at some point.

There's a lot I could say, it truly just warmed my heart in the most perfect way. I just fell in love with Melissa's writing and her amazing storytelling skills. I can say this is not my last book I will be reading by her!

🎧 The narration by Sebastian York & Savannah Peachwood was phenomenal. They brought these characters to life in the best ways. I felt every emotion, every tear, every fear, every joy. I absolutely loved everything about their performance.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ALC of this book! I love Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood and they did a fabulous job as always narrating this book.

It's a cute and quick read and the spice is rather good!!

I had wished for a bit more depth but the real reason for the 3 stars is nothing irks me more than the idea that you can change a child free person's mind. That it's "negotiable".

Otherwise it's a solid 4 star read and I'd recommend for people that don't mind the same things that bug me. :)

I have been a fan of Foster's books and always love the found family and cinnamon roll MC.

I always love a book with pets and Molly was such a cute dog. I thought Destiny and Ryan was good together. Ryan was a total grump and I enjoyed seeing him change his ways.

The story took an easy journey and the main run was Ryan's stubbornness to love.

The narrators, Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood both did a great job with narration.

Thank you to the publisher @netgalley for a copy of this.

This book turned out to be one of the best romances I read this year.
Destiny is a part-time dog groomer and works on building her marriage-proposal planning business. She believes in love and has a list of requirements for her match. None of them fit Ryan, yet their chemistry is undeniable. Destiny is endearing, with the attention span of a goldfish and the cuteness to match.
Ryan on the other hand, with his golden retriever energy, ruined real men for me. His gestures are so full of care and intention that I was touched and left in awe.
I was convinced to add to TBR all the writings of this author.

Destiny is a part time dog groomer and starting her own business helping couples plan the perfect marriage proposals. Destiny loves Molly who is one the dogs that she grooms however. Molly’s owner is known as Grumpy Gus to everyone at the salon . Soon Destiny and Flech (grumpy Gus) have made an arrangement Flech will help Destiny with her proposal business and get her to get organized by making budgets, insurance and everything else she will need. Destiny just has to be Flech’s girlfriend for a few weeks and then after his brother’s wedding they will go their separate ways. What could go wrong with plan? This was a cute book that had you wanting more for Flech and Destiny. The story was funny and at the steamy scenes. I would like to thank both NetGalley and Brilliance Audio for the advanced copy of this audiobook.

Melissa Foster never fails to deliver a phenomenal romcom! The Mr. Right Checklist certainly checked all the romcom boxes. There’s fake dating, opposites attract, fun plot and sexy content.

I couldn’t put it down. I was having too much fun!

The characters are great. They felt like real people. I really like their interactions. Banter was top notch and chemistry was insanely good.

Narrators Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood did a phenomenal job. I really liked their voices for the characters. They fit them perfectly.

Can’t recommend this enough!!!

This was an okay romance. I think I would have enjoyed it more if the female main character was more likeable. While the audiobook narration was well done, I felt a little annoyed by Destiny and her over the top attitude. This was my first book by this author. The writing was decent so I will definitely be trying another of her books.

I enjoyed this one but didn't love it. It's very reminiscent of books I read in my earlier reading days. Commitment to the phobe and the girl who is waiting for true love.
I liked the main characters and their story. Molly was probably my favorite, but I love a good book with a dog.
Slight 3rd act breakup because of some miscommunication, but it was resolved quickly. The female narrator has several moments where she pauses at weird times. It was noticeable even at 1.75x speed, so I imagine slower it would be really noticeable.

Overall, they gave me everything I wanted for their story and the spice was great.

Destiny’s good nature is so beautiful and refreshing! This truly is a grumpy/sunshine story with a touch of fake dating. Fletch and Destiny’s chemistry is super hot, even if they say they aren’t each others type.

I love these narrators!
