A Heartwarming Road Trip

Jill Shalvis delivers another charming story with The Love Fix. The familiar setting of Sunrise Cove and the endearing characters make this a delightful read.

Lexi's journey of self-discovery and forgiveness is both heartwarming and relatable. Her interactions with Heath, her stepsister Ashley, and the various people they encounter on their road trip are filled with humor, emotion, and a touch of romance.

While the plot is predictable at times, the author's talent for creating endearing characters and heartwarming moments keeps the story engaging. The exploration of family, friendship, and love is both heartwarming and thought-provoking.

Overall, The Love Fix is a lovely escape that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. It's a perfect choice for fans of romantic comedies and those who enjoy a feel-good read.

I was so excited to see this book!
5 stars from me for this delightful and fun read.
I found myself grinning in places with Lexi, Ashley and Heath's banter.
I loved Lexi. Lexi was NOT happy with her lot in life and most especially NOT her mother or Heath!
I appreciated what Daisy did for Lexi even though she hasn't realized it yet.
It's a journey of self discovery and who your friends and family are. More importantly finding yourself.
It's about learning how to live again.
I love this quote from the story;
“Sometimes being blood related is overrated. Sometimes being the family you make is where it’s at.”
This so far is my favorite book by Shalvis so far. I love how she adds humor and fun to her stories.
My favorite thing about her stories is the 2nd chances of her characters. This is what kept me turning the pages. I didn't want this lovely story to end. I can't wait for her next story!
I highly recommend it
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis is a no brainer to add to your to be read list if you're looking for a romance with likeable characters and the biggest issue being the character(s) getting in the way of their own happiness.

Lexi finally relents to return to her hometown at the request of her step-sister, Ashley, more because she lost her job, her boyfriend, and her home, than out of a sense of love and duty to Ashley or her dead mother., Daisy.

Once there she finds her mom left her and Ashley in charge of delivering bequests to people and if they do it, they get the remains of her lottery winnings.

This is to be overseen by executor, Heath, a burnt out lawyer turned everything to their hometown who takes care of his grandpa and everyone else. Oh, he is also the boy who caused big feelings for Lexi before she moved away with her dad.

We watch as Lexi and Ashkey reconcile their different versions of Daisy and make peace with each other and grow close as the weeks pass and the letters are delivered. Heath and Lexi also rekindle those feelings and we watch them deal with their careers, each other, and familial responsibilities.

Ms. Shalvis has a way of making us root for the grumpy characters (Lexi) and create easy romances after they get over the initial hump.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read her next book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Lexi comes back to help her sister take care of their mother's last wishes. Meeting up with her old crush makes it more complex, plus her and her sister have different memories of their mother. A lot of angst to go through, and while I did enjoy this one, especially the sisters getting closer and the romance, I found the self issues tiresome after awhile. Might be my age of over 60, but sometimes things have to be let go to avoid the negatives. Might just be me. Otherwise, would highly recommend this one.

Sunrise Cove seems to have grabbed me by the heartstrings – and it doesn’t look like it’s going to loosen up anytime soon!

In Jill Shalvis’s newest Sunrise Cove story, THE LOVE FIX, two troubled and tortured souls reunite, neither looking for love, and neither wanting to commit to anything.
There are some very heavy backstory themes in this book – themes you don’t usually find in a romcom/women’s fiction book of Shalvis’. Parental alcohol abuse and physical abuse; gambling addictions; child abandonment. Heavy stuff indeed, but handled with grace and care by a master storyteller.

The usual Shalvis wit and sexy banter is front and center between our hero and heroine, Heath and Lexi, and the sexy times are kept to a minimum of telling – which is also something new for the fabulous writer.

The storyline concerns redemption – of our major characters and the woman whose life affected theirs; spiritual and personal growth, and, of course, an HEA.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from Netgalley and Avon for an honest opinion of the work.

5 stars from me for another winner of a tale. Brava.

Keeping it honest here. After a phenomenon read by this author in ‘Better Than Friends’ , I was really looking forward to this one. It’s more family and former crush kinda vibe.

Felt badfor the FMC and couldn’t reconcile her version of mom , Daisy, with that same f her stepsister’s , love interest and strangers. Enjoy a redemption read but just couldn’t get past that.

This ARC was provided by the publisher, Avon and Harper Voyager, via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A heart-warming book that has a good storyline, great characters, and an interesting premise. I enjoyed the banter and interaction between the step-sisters and how they chose to honor what was asked of them. It’s not my favorite in this series but it did pull at the heartstrings in all the right places. I appreciate receiving an ARC from the Author, publisher, and Netgalley in exchange for my review.

This is proof that life is messy. Nothing is perfect, no one is perfect, and sometimes the person who let you down is the rock and saving grace for someone else. It doesn’t make you less lovable. It doesn’t make those who did see another side of the person more worthy. It just…is. And honestly, this story is FULL of “is” and learning by seeing things from another perspective.

Lexi is going through a lot. She’s been used, discarded, dismissed, and dropped by the wayside too many times to count. And now she has to fulfill the last wishes of someone who was never there for her. All to keep a promise to her sister, Ashley. By going through this, Lexi knows she’s putting her heart at risk. She knows she’s going to get hurt. And she does. But she’s not the only one.

Heath is sort of in the same boat. But he’s always wanted Lexi, whether or not he chose to admit it before now. If Ashley and a final wish from someone important to so many mean that he’s got that chance, he’s going to take it now. Of course, communication is key and secrets do hurt when they come out, but love can sometimes overcome all, as we see here.

I loved my time with Lexi, Ashley, and Heath. I’m actually a little sad to hit “the end” but the growing that takes place for all of them makes this a story you won’t want to miss!

The Love Fix is a heartwarming story of love and forgiveness but a lot of anger and letting go of the past has to happen first. Lexi returned home to Sunrise Cove a year after her mother passed away in order to fulfill her last wishes. There is a lot of bitterness in Lexi after her mother seemingly deserted her as a child. She and her step-sister, Ashley, have six letters to deliver to friends and acquaintances of their mom. Along the way, Lexi slowly begins to tear down the wall built around her heart, realizing that she has people who love her and will never leave her. Although this is book 8 in Jill Shalvis’ Sunrise Cove series, it can be read as a standalone book. I recommend this book along with all of the author’s books as they are feel-good stories with some silly shenanigans along the way.

Jill Shalvis’s *The Love Fix* is a heartwarming and irresistibly charming romance that expertly blends humor, emotion, and the messy, beautiful complexities of life and love. With her signature wit and warmth, Shalvis crafts a story about second chances, personal growth, and finding the courage to trust in love again. It’s an engaging read that will have you laughing, crying, and cheering for its wonderfully relatable characters.

At the center of the story is Maisie, a smart and fiercely independent woman who’s always relied on herself. But when a series of missteps leads her back to her hometown, she’s forced to confront her past and the walls she’s built around her heart. Enter Sam, the charming, frustrating, and undeniably swoon-worthy ex who’s determined to repair what was broken between them. Their dynamic is filled with witty banter, unresolved tension, and moments of genuine vulnerability that make their love story as authentic as it is captivating.

Shalvis has a knack for creating characters that feel like real people, with flaws, quirks, and emotional depth that draw you in. Maisie’s journey of self-discovery is as compelling as the romance itself, and Sam’s patience and charm make him the perfect counterbalance to her guarded heart. Their chemistry leaps off the page, and Shalvis expertly navigates their emotional baggage to create a relationship that feels earned and deeply satisfying.

What sets *The Love Fix* apart is its ability to balance humor with heartfelt moments. Shalvis’s sharp dialogue and comedic timing infuse the story with energy, while the quieter, more emotional scenes give it depth. The supporting cast, from meddling family members to quirky friends, adds an extra layer of charm and helps flesh out the vibrant world of the novel.

The pacing is spot-on, keeping the story engaging from start to finish. Shalvis masterfully weaves together the characters’ emotional arcs, creating a narrative that feels cohesive and rewarding. The small-town setting is brought to life with vivid detail, adding a cozy, inviting backdrop to the characters’ journey.

*The Love Fix* is a delightful and uplifting novel that will resonate with anyone who’s ever faced the challenge of letting go of the past to embrace a brighter future. Jill Shalvis delivers another winner with her trademark blend of humor, heart, and sizzling romance. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to her work, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves stories about second chances and the transformative power of love. A five-star gem, *The Love Fix* will leave you smiling and ready to believe in the magic of fixing what’s worth saving.

📚The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis 🛣️❤️

I wanted to love The Love Fix, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. 🫤 The setup had all the makings of a heartwarming story—road trip antics, an enemies to lovers romance, and themes of found family and forgiveness. But despite the potential, the execution fell flat.

Lexi’s journey of confronting her past and her complicated feelings for Heath felt predictable, and the emotional beats didn’t land as deeply as they should have. The romance lacked chemistry, and while the road trip shenanigans tried to inject some fun, they weren’t enough to save the story. 😕

If you’re a die hard Jill Shalvis fan, you might enjoy revisiting Sunrise Cove, but this one didn’t quite deliver for me. 3⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley, Jill Shalvis, and Avon for the eARC of this book.

Lexi returns home after her mother's death to deal with things from her past. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Lexi Clark’s life is a mess. Jobless, she returns home at her stepsister’s behest. Sunrise Cove holds too many painful memories for Lexi. She grudgingly agrees to honor her mother’s final wish – to make amends to the people she had wronged. The endeavor allows Lexi to see her mother in a different way. She also forges bonds with her stepsister and her childhood nemesis-turned-crush. Can Lexi finally let go of her past resentment? Will Sunrise Cove offer what she truly needs?
Heath Bowman spends his time, and energy, taking care of his grandfather and others. Lexi’s return to Sunrise Cove sends him into a quandary. He manages to convince Lexi to complete her mother’s last wish. Heath finds himself volunteering to accompany her along the journey. He cannot ignore the chemistry brewing between them, but he is hesitant to start something. Will Heath and Lexi’s trust issues stand in their way? Can he let Lexi go once she finishes her task?
Heath and Lexi’s background broke my heart. Both were hurt by a parental figure but in different ways. I understand why Heath and Lexi both keep people at arm’s length. They have been hurt too many times by the few individuals they let in. Since they have so much in common, they understand each other.
What I adore the most about Lexi is how she does not need Heath to fix her problems. She rather meets her challenges and problems on her own terms. I like how Heath never once tried to push Lexi to forgive her mother. Yeah, it often puts him in a difficult position.
THE LOVE FIX is the eighth book in Jill Shalvis’ contemporary romance, women’s fiction series, SUNRISE COVE. Each book in this series can stand alone because each story has a new cast of characters. There is no on-going or carried-over plot.
Jill Shalvis never disappoints me. I know to anticipate humor to lighten up the tough subject matters she touches on in each book. She also includes a quirky pet that warms my heart whenever I read her stories.
Gus, Heath’s cankerous grandfather, is my favorite character. His antics made me giggle. He made the book so dang enjoyable!

"You didn’t know,” Heath said. Looking distraught, she shook her head. “She’s so . . . cheerful all the time. I guess it’s an act.” “It’s not. She says she’s processing things just fine, but that it takes far less energy to be positive than negative."

This book is deep. It made me misty eyed. Lexi is back in her hometown to settle her mom's will and wishes, along with her childhood friend Heath, and her sister Ashley.

Her mom had written notes to people she had wronged and they are to deliver them. Along the way, they discover who the mom was as a person, and how much they need each other now.

Great fade to black romance!

The Love Fix was the perfect fix for a snowy afternoon. Sunrise Cove set the scene for Lexi and Heath's love story. Returning to the Cove to settle her mom's estate, the idyllic setting is filled with troublesome memories. Making waves is Lexi's feelings about Heath as while it's a handsome exterior, their competitive nature requires treading water.

Required to stay in Sunrise Cove as part of her mother's will, Lexi grapples with her past while struggling to forge a path for herself. Will she be brave enough to tether herself to the place that provided rocky shores? Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the early edition of #TheLoveFix in exchange for an honest review. I'm a fan of the author's work as each story pens a feeling of returning home and to characters who warmly greet your arrival.

Definitely a winner. A story of second chances and facing a past that is nearly impossible to forgive. Lexi's relationship with Ashley has always been difficult because of her estrangement with her mother. She has to struggle with facing her bitterness and guilt around her mother to finally forge a better relationship with Ashley. She also needs to unburden herself of the secrets from that past to find anyway free from all her resentments and struggles. I liked Ashley and that she pushed Lexi to let her in. It was her constant faith in Lexi's love for her that allowed Lexi to finally reveal the truth of how hard her life's really been.

Her past with Heath and his relationship with her mom Daisy keeps her walls up with him. However she can't help the attraction she's always had to him. Heath is just as wounded from his abusive father. Once they both reconcile what keeps them apart, they finally push to open up a path to be together.

I loved that Heath let Lexi call most of the shots in their romance. Unfortunately I think that really could've made the outcome much worse by setting an example of being a bit of a pushover. Thankfully Lexi saw it for what it was and demanded he let her love him as much as he loved her.

I can’t believe this series is up to number eight! I’ve read and enjoyed most and like the author. It can easily be read on it’s own. The themes always have family, friends or frenemies with a touch of drama, romance and heartfelt emotional quandaries. The richly developed characters have the author’s signature wit, humor and sarcasm flowing throughout their interactions. A bonus for me is the setting the area of Lake Tahoe, a place I’ve long wished to explore. Lexi is returning to her mother’s home to wrap up lingering loose ends after her death. Her stepsister, Ashley, is nothing like Lexi and longs for them to be closer, emotionally and physically. Lexi has just become unemployed, is bitter, resentful, emotionally walled off and just fine being alone. The mother left the girls letters and instructions for settling old debts. A neighboring close friend of the mother turns out to be a competitive, appealing man from Lexi’s past. Heath’s as guarded with emotions as Lexi, with just as many demons in his past. He is there to help deliver the letters and assure their safety. The ensuing road trips to carry out these wishes reveal a mother Lexi never knew. Their journeys were filled with surprises, revelations and experiences none of them could have expected or prepared for. I enjoyed each new letter and the resulting outcomes. I didn’t immediately relate to all the pent up resentment or other traits Lexi was burdened by. I was much more drawn to Ashley with her bubbly, positive attitude. Heath had his own set of issues along with the patience of a saint. Another heartfelt story with meaningful life lessons.
