Claire Crawford is about to start her junior year of high school. With summer ending, she’s not sure how to adjust to all the changes she’s had lately. She’s newly single, and she lost the only thing she was truly passionate about. Figure skating was her entire world, and she’d planned out her whole life around it. Then all her dreams are shattered in an instant. This year definitely looks different for her. She’s not expecting to meet someone that interests her so soon, but suddenly she has a full blown crush on the new guy at school, and wants to get to know him better.

Soccer is everything to Austin Keller. When an opportunity comes up to join a state champion team his family picks up and moves from Arizona to Michigan. The Frost Lake Knights soccer program is one of the best, and has an amazing record. Austin is prepared to prove himself and earn his spot. Then things get complicated when he lands himself in a bit of drama. On his first night out with the team, one dare changes everything when he ends up kissing the team captain’s ex-girlfriend. Will he risk it all and cross the line for a connection he can’t deny?

Stealing for Keeps (Frost Lake High, #1) by Rebecca Jenshak is a secret relationship, high school, sports romance full of humor, rivalry, emotion, and sizzling chemistry. It’s a super cute, young adult story about self discovery and forbidden love. I really enjoyed this book, and can’t wait for more in the series! <333

Phenomenal start to a new series.

This was such a fun, cute YA sports romance. I enjoyed the characters and really found the story engaging and entertaining in so many ways. And yes, this is a true YA romance that even the younger adult will enjoy as much as older readers.

Claire and Austin are both about to embark are new changes and challengers during the junior, but for very different reasons. Austin is new the area and Claire is adjusting to new changes and challenges. What I loved most, the mannerisms and characteristics match these characters so well - they stay true to who they are.

I enjoyed the authenticity of this story - from the sports aspect, to the every day challenges of high school students. Rebecca delivered a fantastic story with characters that are relatable.

Looking forward to more from this author and this series.

This was the cutest and BEST YA romance! I’m down bad for Rebecca books so I knew I would love this one but it honestly blew me away!

Austin moves to Frost Lake High to elevate his soccer career. Claire is a junior at Frost Lake as well and just had most of her dreams shattered when Austin comes into her life. Austin gets dared to kiss her at a party and they end up developing a friendship/relationship, but Claire’s ex boyfriend is the captain of the soccer team! You’ll have to read to find out what happens next! 💓

Austin was PRECIOUS. One of my absolute favorite book boyfriends i’ve ever read. I loved how developed his relationship was with his brother, Wyatt, and how he cares so much for Claire. The dynamic between the soccer team was also so cute!

Claire really had the best girl friendships! She inspired me as a character after watching her deal with so much in high school. I loved watching her slowly give Austin a chance to win her heart!

You will adore this book by Rebecca! The perfect teenage angst love story that will always be one of my favorites! 💕

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I haven't read a YA book in so long, but when I read the blurb and saw that Rebecca Jenshak was the author, I knew I had to make an exception because this sounded so good. I wasn't wrong for going in with high expectations - this book exceeded them in every way.

Austin Keller is the new soccer star in the school. Claire Crawford meanwhile is still recovering from an injury that has caused her life long dream of being a figure-skater be put on ice - forever. Not only that, but Claire is also newly single after breaking up with her boyfriend, who happens to be the team captain for the soccer team. When Austin kisses Claire as a dare, unaware that she is the ex-girlfriend of his soccer captain, things take a turn quickly ...

This book was so good and Austin was THE book boyfriend we all wish we had! His maturity and care for Claire was so admiring to see, and you just want them together and happy. Claire was such a likeable FMC as well, and I just really enjoyed seeing the push and pull between the two. I think what makes this book so good is not only the main characters, but also the side characters and all that they go through. It's really relatable and reminds you of things you went through in HS.

Thank you so much Netgalley, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and Rebecca Jenshak for the ARC ✨

This is for you if you love to read:

4.5 stars! Listen, I’m not normally a huge fan of the YA genre, especially the high school setting but I love Rebecca Jenshak’s books so I knew I had to give her take on YA romance a shot! I truly enjoyed this one! It took me back to the day that I was a sucker for a good YA romance.

Frost Lake is a place that I can totally picture being the cutest town. All the characters in this one were so relatable with the issues that they struggle with. Austin and Claire were so good for each other and I enjoyed watching them develop throughout the book, both alone and with each other.

Obviously, I’m a sucker for a sports romance and this soccer romance had the perfect amount of soccer on the page. I do wish that we could have gotten to see Claire in action as a figure skater, even if it was some kind of flashback.

I truly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading about more of the characters of Frost Lake, especially Lacey’s story!

Thanks so much to Rebecca Jenshak and Valentine PR for a copy of this book for an honest review!

The side characters too I was obsessed and cannot wait to see where this series goes! I'm really hoping Torrance, Rowan, Lacey and Vaughn get books 😏🤭🤞🏻loved the soccer and figure skating combo 😍 would most definitely recommend checking this out! It won't disappoint 🫶🏻✨

Rebecca Jenshak brings us back to the drama, passion, and challenges of high school life in Stealing for Keeps. With a fresh perspective on young love and ambition, this story perfectly balances sports rivalry, personal growth, and heartfelt romance.

Austin Keller is the quintessential new kid, eager to prove himself on the prestigious Frost Lake soccer team. But one impulsive dare—kissing the team captain’s ex-girlfriend, Claire Crawford—throws his plans into turmoil. What begins as a fiery rivalry soon turns into an irresistible pull between two characters navigating their own struggles and ambitions.

Claire is a standout heroine, grappling with the fallout of a life-altering injury that forced her to give up her figure-skating dreams. Jenshak does an excellent job portraying her emotional journey, from dealing with heartbreak to rediscovering her strength and identity. Her hesitancy toward Austin feels authentic, creating a slow-burn romance that keeps readers hooked.

Austin, meanwhile, is a charming mix of determination and vulnerability. His genuine care for Claire and persistence in breaking through her walls make him a swoon-worthy lead. Their chemistry grows organically, and the push-and-pull dynamic is both frustrating and captivating in all the right ways.

The backdrop of Frost Lake High’s competitive soccer scene adds an exciting edge to the story, while the supporting characters hint at more intriguing tales to come in future installments.

Stealing for Keeps is a compelling blend of sports drama, teenage romance, and personal discovery. Jenshak beautifully captures the thrill of young love and the resilience needed to overcome life’s challenges, making this a must-read for fans of contemporary YA romance.

4,5/5⭐️

I had high expectations going into this book, and it exceeded them in every way.

I was swept into a story that was sweet, touching, and full of those moments that make you smile like a fool from start to finish.

Austin Keller was an instant favorite for me. I loved his personality, his way of thinking, and the way he handled things. He’s THE book boyfriend we all deserve.

As for Claire Crawford, I adored her just as much. Her family dynamic, so different from Austin’s, brought an extra layer of depth to the story. I especially appreciated how her journey of self-discovery was portrayed. Austin’s support and encouragement added that special something that melted my heart.

Their relationship is pure sweetness and love. Despite the obstacles they face, every moment they share is a joy to read. I found myself smiling the entire time!

A special shoutout to Lacey and Rowan, two incredible secondary characters. They are the very definition of golden friends, and I absolutely loved them.

This is the first book in the New Young Adult series, Frost Lake High School series. Now, I typically do not go for young adult, but I am truly a fiend for anything Rebecca Jenshak writes and this book did not disappoint.

Austin just moved to a new town to make his dream of being a soccer super star a reality. His family uprooted their entire lives, for his dreams and there is no way anyone will veer him away from this dreams. But a dare during his first outing with the team, put him in a bad spot with the captain, when the person he was dared to kiss is his ex girlfriend. Not the best way to start off in a new town, with a new team. As he tries to make amends with his captain, the mysterious ex of his starts to take up some real estate in Austin’s mind. Austin set the boundary, that soccer has to be over everything, but the sadness in Claire calls to him. He knows he needs to make it better, needs to make sure she shines in life. However, Austin realizes the sacrifices his family has made in order for him to get to where he wants to go. So, how can he focus on anything but soccer and his future when so much rides on him staying focused on one thing?

Claire only focus since she could remember was to be a figure skater, the best figure skater. And now after a terrible injury, she doesn’t know what her calling is. Her mom doesn’t have anything to talk to her about, her ex decided soccer was more important, and some new guy is interrupting her time to reflect and push everyone away. After establishing the kissing dare, was just that a date, Claire becomes confused why Austin still continues to stick around and stay friends. His goal is to apparently find another activity for Claire to fall in love with, but the only thing Claire is falling for is Austin. Claire knows Austin, soccer boys in general, will never choose anything over soccer, yet Claire can’t stop herself from thinking of a possible future after figure skating. Let’s hope she doesn’t become second fiddle to the sport that lost her her first love.

Rebecca just knows how to write them, no notes, just a great read. I loved Austin and Claire and their story and development throughout. Austin was such a knight in shining armor and loved him for Claire!!

Stealing for Keeps is a super cute young adult, sports romance. I adored Austin and Claire and the sweet connection that bloomed as they navigated their way through their junior year of high school. Rebecca Jenshak is just so good at creating the drama and camaraderie and emotions that come with this stage of their life.

I’m looking forward to reading more from this series.

“you don’t need to be perfect to be ready for love. You just have to be willing to let people see you.”

This is Rebecca’s first YA and she did not disappoint!! Claire and Austin definitely stole my heart!

Claire’s life always revolved around figure skating until an injury that changes everything.
Austin and his family moved to Frost Lake so he can play soccer with an amazing Coach.
Their meet cute was fun and glittery but Claire is just not interested, she has big decisions to make for her future plus it seems Austin is just like her ex-boyfriend who happens to be the soccer team’s captain.

But after they shared a kiss at the bonfire because of a dare, Claire can’t help ignore the attraction between them. As hard as she tries to tell herself that they’re just friends, the pull is that strong, plus she can’t help but notice that she hasn’t smiled and laughed like this in awhile with Austin since her injury.

There’s just something about young love that brings all the feels and that’s what Claire and Austin’s story did. Love that they explored their friendship first and really got to know each other outside of the expectations and pressures of school and sports.
I enjoyed all the sweet kisses, swoon and all the high school and family drama for sure!

I’m definitely excited for more from this series!

I’ve not been sucked into a high school romance in so long and this hit the spot! I loved the dedication to Claire and Austin getting to know each other, working on the art project together, trying our new hobbies, it felt really authentic reading about them falling for each other. It was nice that the OM drama with Claire’s ex and Austin’s teammate was realistic but the author didn’t write him as an asshole or the evil guy. I loved the side characters, and the development of the family relationships. Special shout out to Lacey and Rowan they were GREAT best friends.

I loved this book!
I think its perfect for young adult trying to dip their toes into romance books
This book took me back to high school! Austin & Claire were so cute and I loved that their meet cute included glitter lol

Austin loves playing soccer and he doesnt really want to date Claire as she is his team captain's ex girlfriend. Claire is a figure skater and skating is her passion but an injury changes everything.

I loved reading about both of them navigating different challenges in their lives. I forgot how difficult high school can be especially relationships with your friends and parents.

Stealing For Keeps by Rebecca Jenshak is the first book in her new Frost Lake High series. This is the author’s first YA story and is a first love, sports romance between Austin Keller and Claire Crawford. The author really captures the highs and lows of high school life. The story is full
of teenage banter, drama and angst, as well as covering friendships, team dynamics and family conflicts. We follow everything this couple face as they negotiate their feelings, while he chases his dreams and she finds her way after losing hers.

Austin has moved to Frost Lake High School in Michigan. His family have given up their old life and moved from Arizona, for him to train under Coach Collins and play for the Knights soccer team. It is a dream come true but he gets off to a rocky start when he gets lost on his way to training. This leads to a funny meet-cute with Claire and ends up with him covered in glitter and gaining the nickname “Disco”. Things don’t improve when one of the players dares him to kiss her. He doesn’t know her ex is Vaughan, their team captain and this starts a rivalry that threatens his place on the team.

It is the start of Claire’s junior year. She is trying to get over a career ending injury and the hurtful actions of her boyfriend. Vaughan and Claire had bonded over their determination to succeed at their sporting careers, he as a soccer player and she as a figure skater. They dated for two years until he suddenly dumped her when her world was turned upside down and she needed him the most most. She knows she can’t compete anymore but also fears she may never skate again.

All the girls at school are swooning over the new, mysterious guy. Austin is cute, confident and cocky but only wants to play soccer and not let his team or family down. However, he becomes distracted by his feelings for Claire and the rivalry with Vaughn, putting everything in jeopardy.
She can’t stop thinking about him even though she should be trying to find a life without skating.
Their friendship and feelings build slowly as they realise they really like each other but know there are difficulties to face. I loved how he gets her to try new things to replace skating and his sketch book drawings.

The secondary characters are a great mixture and bring so much to the story. I thought her best friend Lacey was funny and a pocket rocket. His best friend Rowan is so supportive and understanding to all that goes on. His little brother is adorable and I hope his sister eventually settles in and finds some friends. I am very interested to see who the next book will be about as the author has teased us with some storylines for a few of them.

Can Austin concentrate on his dreams and keep his place on the team. Will they be able to keep their blossoming relationship a secret especially when outside influences don’t approve. Who will Claire choose when Vaughn suddenly wants to be there for her. Can they overcome the obstacles and will true love shine through. As a British football fan, I did find some of the sporting terms a bit off putting but overall this is a sweet and enjoyable teenage romance story.

This was a bit of a different read for me. It's a young adult, high school romance. I enjoyed the relationships between the characters, the friendships, the challenges of fitting in to a new school, a new team, and how that plays into the rest of their lives. Claire is dealing with an injury that has cost her what she loves, and that makes for a difficult relationship with her mother. Austin is that new guy, a great athlete, and I liked the respect he has for everyone in his life. The plus with these two is the friendship that grows between them. It's a great start to a new series with characters that want their stories told.

📚BOOK REVIEW 📚

Stealing For Keeps @rebeccajenshak @valentine_pr_

I always enjoy Rebecca Jenshak's books and the worlds she creates. They are always lots of fun and provide me with pure escapism.

I knew I was going to like this book straight away when early on the line "Glitter makes everything better" was said.

I loved Austin right from the first meeting where there was a glitter bomb incident with Claire. It was so cute and such a funny scene. I always love it when he falls first and boy does he fall hard. The flirtatious nature of his charactee was lots of fun and his playfulness added a nice lighthearted touch. Being a football fan in the UK, it was fun getting a lot of the soccer references. He did have deeper things going on as he felt guilty with his family’s sacrifices. But this just made him work harder.

Claire was relatable after she struggled coming to terms with no longer being able to do a sport she loved so much. She really struggled to find her place in the world and what this new information meant for her. It was lovely seeing her develop and grow as the book went on. Together they were so cute.

I find high school books lots of fun as there's always drama, teenage angst, crushes and love and it just makes for an exciting read.

With the following tropes explored, I really enjoyed this book;

⚽️ Sports Romance
⛸️ Soccer Player x Ex-Figure Skater
⚽Forbidden Romance
⛸️ Rival’s ex-girlfriend
⚽ Secret relationship
⛸️ He Falls First

a sweet soccer boy and a retired (not by choice) ice skater fall in love 🤍

I absolutely loved this book!! I love a lot of Rebecca’s books and THIS book is a reason why!! Austin was such a beautiful sweet soul and you can’t help but wish he was someone you got in high school as your bf. Claire was the girl that shows you it’s okay to try new things and not be good and it or love it the first time and that’s OKAY.

This book was just so sweet, innocent and comfortable in that high school setting ! The family drama, the friend drama, the teammate drama, it was all done in a none cringey way but also not overly done. I truly feel like Rebecca just let this story happy and it was cute and perfectly sweet read for YA 🤍
