Fast, exciting read!! I enjoyed all the characters, especially River. She struggled so much with all the losses in her life.

I love twisty plots but this one was almost too much… I would have been perfectly happy with an ending at about 80% of the book. 4.5 🌟Just my opinion!

Many thanks to NetGalley and publishers for the advanced reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review.

a fast-paced, emotional rollercoaster that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. River Santos is a complex, likable character who has suffered unimaginable loss, and you can’t help but root for her as she tries to rebuild her life after her house burns down. The mysterious two-million-dollar donation adds a gripping layer of intrigue, especially when River starts wondering who could be behind it and what their true motives are.

The romance with Logan Evans, her brooding and standoffish coworker, is a slow burn, and their chemistry makes for a satisfying, if slightly frustrating, dynamic. The tension between them is palpable, and as secrets from their pasts begin to unravel, their attraction grows even more intense. But it’s not just the romance that keeps you hooked—it’s River’s journey of discovering painful truths about her family and the people around her. The twists and turns make it hard to put down, and while some might feel the final revelations come a bit too late in the book, they add a necessary layer of suspense.

One caveat: the plot can be a bit over-the-top at times, with more twists than necessary, and the final act may feel like it’s going a bit too far.

Thanks NetGalley, G.P. Putnam, and author Sloan Harlow for advanced copy for honest review.

River Santos has never had it easy but now she is at the end of her rope. Her father dies in a house fire and has no other option but than to move in with her aunt. She works a shitty job at a diner where Logan works. Never paid her no mind when of the woodwork, Logan starts giving her attention. New information comes forward of her father's death and the fire. What is everyone's motives. Trying to react revenge. Maybe finish what was started.
4 Stars, recommend. Anticipated May book

All We Lost Was Everything

When River loses her father plus everything she owns in a house fire, she feels like she will never be the same again. Her mother has already been missing. She has her aunt, her best friend, and maybe even a new boyfriend. Soon, her father's death brings about more questions that she never knew she needed answered.

This was a good mix of mystery, romance, and thriller, all mixed with a large amount of teenage angst. I liked this story. I liked the characters. You can't help but feel for River. After all she goes through, it is heartbreaking. But, the back and forth with Logan and Noah and her, it was just a bit much. Like I mentioned, "Teen Angst". By the end, I was glad to have read it, but, honestly, I was getting a bit bored. It was an easy read that was both well written and engaging, which is why I kept reading. I was still sucked into the mystery that wrapped around River and her parents.

I was glued to the pages of this one! This was one of those books that is constantly on my mind to finish reading because I must find out what happens. Like what responsibilities can I avoid in order to be able to sit and get lost in this story. But at the same time, I loved it so much that I didn't want it to end. The emotions that Sloan Harlow can evoke is a real talent. Romance with some thrill and good twists is my favorite type. All We Lost Was Everything is captivating and well written!

All We Lost Is Everything

4.25 rounded down⭐️

18 year old River is going through it… her mom disappeared, her boyfriend broke up with her, and her childhood home burnt to ash with her father inside. She’s barely hanging on trying to navigate the loss, grief, and loneliness that comes with this series of unfortunate events. She finds solace in the love of her aunt, the support of her best friend, and her attraction to her co-worker, Logan. But as things start to come to light, River quickly learns that everyone is siding something and begins to question everything she thinks she knows about the people she loves.

I love a good romantic suspense and this was no different. While I had some suspicions, for once I did not see all of the twists coming. The story sucks you in from the very beginning and is a fast paced mystery thriller with a budding romance element. It is YA but does touch on some dark themes and has some explicit language and intimacy. I enjoyed having the multiple POVs and the mom’s the letters to give varying perspectives.

There were some consistency issues and the timeline was really unclear and possibly contradicting at times so hopefully this gets another good round of edits before publishing. It also would have been great to get a little more depth from the MMC but overall I really enjoyed this read and will check out other works by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group| G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers for the opportunity to read this eARC and provide my honest opinion.

If you're looking for a dark and twisty read, Sloan Harlow's "All We Lost Was Everything" is definitely worth checking out! This book blends romance and mystery in a way that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. The dual POVs and letter interludes add depth, making it hard to put down as you chase down all the clues.

Harlow tackles some heavy themes, like loss, abandonment, and relationships, but does it in a way that's perfect for YA readers. It’s refreshing to see how she handles tough topics with care. The resolution really ties everything together, reinforcing that forgiveness can take time.

The story centers on River Santos, who loses her home and father in a fire. When an anonymous donor gives her GoFundMe a big boost, she’s on a mission to find them. Along the way, she navigates complicated feelings for a grumpy co-worker and uncovers family secrets that turn her world upside down. Overall, it’s a captivating and emotional ride!

All we lost was everything

Thank you @penguinteenca for sending me a copy to review.

This book was so fast paced I read it in one sitting. The twist at the end shocked me and was not where I thought this story would go.

I absolutely loved how every character had their own secret and you couldn’t trust anyone.

Sloan has a way with words and keeping you captivated throughout. Absolutely loved her character development especially with River.

This is the perfect YA thriller full of twists and turns. Plus a-little romance. Emotional read but show there is always a light at the end of the tunnel which River portrays so well.

I really enjoyed Everything We Never Said. So, I was excited to see Harlow was on publishing a new book! I was sucked into the story right from the start. I really enjoyed the dual POV of River and Logan and inclusion of the letters. I think including both POVs and the letters really added to the story. I found River to be a likable character who was easy to connect with.

This is an emotional book that deals with some difficult topics including drunk driving, parental loss, fire, and family trauma. I still have a couple unanswered questions, but l liked how the ending came together. Definitely some unexpected surprises in the last few chapters of the book!

Overall, a twisty emotional YA thriller that I recommend to readers who enjoy dark romance.

There’s so much going on in this book. A lot. Yet despite everything going on, it’s a bit repetitive at times when it shouldn’t be. It also seems like the author was unsure of what genre they wanted to write and therefore just threw a bunch of random plot elements in to see what happens, which muddled up the story somewhat. Pacing seemed a bit off to me as well.

There’s also the insta-love relationship which was completely underwhelming and imo unnecessary. I think Logan would have been a much more interesting character had he remained as aloof and uncaring as he started out. He seemed really bland and underdeveloped to me, like he was more of an idea rather than an actual person. Note, there is some spice in what is otherwise a YA novel, so potential readers should keep that in mind.

My main issue with this book however is that one of the plot points is based on a 2 million dollar donation to the FMC’s Go Fund Me being completely anonymous. That isn’t possible. All donations are visible to the organizer and the members; it can only be anonymous to the public. That’s a big plot point to have incorrect and to be missed by editors.

There’s a few other minor issues that should have been fixed/addressed but weren’t, like the bank forgoing company policy regarding safety deposit boxes simply because they know who you are, or picking a lock in seconds despite never doing it before.

I think I might just be the wrong audience for this book. It definitely reads as YA despite the spice, and I’m sure it would be an enjoyable read as long as you don’t question anything written and just take it as fact (like the anonymous $2Mil). There’s lots of twists and a whole lot going on, so I can see how this would be enjoyable for some, unfortunately that wasn’t me.

I received an ARC of this book via G. P. Putnam’s Sons/Penguin Random House and NetGalley, however this review is completely my own unbiased personal opinion, left of my own volition.

All We Lost Was Everything follows River Santos after her house burns down. She lost everything—including her loving father. When someone anonymously donates two million dollars to her GoFundMe, River tries everything to track down the person responsible. As she starts to fall for her insanely hot co-worker who seems to hate her, River uncovers buried family secrets that turn her life upside down and shatter her already demolished world.

Sloan Harlow cemented herself as an auto-read author for me with this book. I loved her first one and this one was SO good too. I think I prefer the first one, but still thoroughly enjoyed this one. The plot was gripping from the start and I loved the pacing. The twist at the end had me gagged and I did not see it coming at all! I was constantly guessing throughout the novel but was so wrong about the final twist. It was so good!!

Besides Harlow’s impeccable twists that are almost impossible to guess, she also creates such captivating, real, and raw characters you can’t help but feel so deeply for. They’ve gone through so much but they’re so determined to keep going and are so strong. I loved River. She felt very real and her actions and choices felt very believable. Logan was so good!! Harlow’s love interests are top notch.

Overall, if you love twisty mystery/thrillers with romance you 100% should go check out Sloan Harlow’s book!!

This was a great read that kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat for the entire book. It's exactly the type of book that I love to read - many twists and turn, a thriller with mystery that keeps suspense throughout the book, that also gives you crumbles along the way to not lose interest.

River was a very loveable character, and I enjoyed following her journey, but of course felt so bad for her and everything she was going through. The romance aspect to the book was a perfect combination with the mystery we got, giving us a bit of both made everything even better.

Thank you very much NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group for arc, so I could leave my honest review.

You should add this to your TBR if you love:
- Mystery & suspense
- YA Romance
- Angst & an emotional rollercoaster

This plot reminded me a lot of other YA writing, like Pretty Little Liars. Everyone seemed to have done something against River and the biggest secrets were reacted to being life or death situations when it didn't need to be.

I will share this title on my instagram just before publication. I haven't made my posting schedule for May yet but this will be placed right before publication.

Trigger warning: Grief, parental loss, mental illness, substance use and abuse, alcoholism, medical malpractice, arson

When everyone around you is lying, who do you trust? One year ago, River Santos thought she had the perfect life. Parents that loved and supported her, a best friend by her side, and the world’s best boyfriend. But that all changed when her mom went on a solo hiking trip and never returned home. While not too unusual for her mom to do, River still believed she was out there somewhere. Then her long term boyfriend broke up with her, seemingly out of nowhere. Just when she thought things couldn’t get worse, a house fire claimed the life of River’s father. Luckily, River was saved from the fire by an unknown person. Now River is living with her Tita Anna and working at a local diner with best friend. When the mysterious Logan Evans starts working at the diner too, River can’t ignore her attraction to him. As she gets to know Logan more, she learns that Logan may know more about River and her family history than she does. And as she begins to learn more about her parents and their past, she’ll find that there were things they kept from her. Digging deeper, she questions if everything she’s ever known is a lie.

I enjoyed reading this new release by Sloan Harlow. The twists and turns in the book kept me engaged until the end. I felt that the romantic scenes were a little advanced for YA readers and the writing in those sections was a little muddled. Overall, the book was a good read.

All We Lost Was Everything by Sloan Harlow follows River Santos, a recent high school grad who lost both her parents 6 months ago. Her mom often left home to go on "hikes," but hasn't returned home in over 6 months and won't return River's calls or texts. River's father died in a mysterious fire that ravaged River's childhood home.

River is coping with the simultaneous loss of her parents when she is given a life-changing $2 million by an anonymous donor. She doesn't feel comfortable about using the money, especially when she doesn't know who it's from. Not only is River dealing with this mystery, but her attention is also captured by Logan, one of her co-workers at the local diner. As River starts to fall for Logan, she can't help but dig into his past too.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and how enthralled I was. I loved the romantic suspense aspect of the novel and following River as she unravels her mother and father's past and uncovers the truth about what happened the night of the fire. The final reveal was a little confusing -- I felt like there were a lot of reveals one after the other which made it hard to immediately grasp while reading. I also wish we had a bit more information about what happened between the end of the book and the start of the epilogue -- it felt like there were a lot of loose ends that were magically tied up with no context or detail in the epilogue. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed reading this and found myself excited to continue reading when I was doing other things. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy Young Adult novels and/or romantic suspense!

The cover is what initially peaked my interest, but ultimately I decided to give it a shot thinking this would be an easy read, just a typical romance with perhaps a few twists and turns - which I do rather enjoy.

This is my first book by the author Sloan Harlow. I enjoyed it and I look forward to reading more from this author. Her twists in this story were top notch and I was clueless until the author wanted me to know. The book grabbed me from the beginning and did not let go.

The main character, River, was dealt a bad hand over and over but she did not give up when I think others would have. As the title suggests, she lost everything in a fire. Her father and her childhood home and everything inside. Her mother disappeared and no one has heard from her, but this is a common occurrence, so no one is really worried. River does have her trusty best friend Tawny and Tita Anna.

At first, I thought this was a YA book, but there are some pretty spicy scenes that I typically wouldn't see in a YA book. Maybe the suggestion for the age range in this book should be 18+.
