I absolutely loved this book, Brynne does it again! I have loved each one in this series. And Fionne and Rose are no exception, I adore the letters and the growth these characters went through.

cythe and Sparrow was an incredible end to the Ruinous Love trilogy. I loved the blend of dark romance, humor, and mystery. Also, we can now add cotton candy, staple guns, and old ladies crocheting to the list of things that I will never look at the same way after reading this book.

Rose is a traveling circus performer, who meets small town doctor, Fionn, after getting injured. He agrees to give her a place to crash until she is well enough to resume performing and join up with the circus.

After calling off an engagement, Finn has been hiding out in middle America. He is existing, but not really living. He just wants low key and predictability. He couldn’t be more different from Rose, who burst into his world and wreaked havoc on his bland routine.

Rose is the most adorably chaotic vigilante ever. She has the best intentions, but her execution is lacking. She’s kind of a mess. Compared to Lark and Sloane, she lacks finesse when it comes to her vengeance. Rose ends up calling out to Fionn for help cleaning up a “situation.” His reaction is hilarious. Instead of being scared, he’s just exasperated by her mayhem. He keeps coming to her rescue and despite his best efforts, Fionn ends up right in the middle of the madness he was trying to avoid.

Rose ends up being exactly what Fionn needs to get back to living his life. She also fits seamlessly among his brothers and their equally murderous partners. Like the others in the series, the banter is hilariously snarky as is their chemistry. They are in close quarters and constantly sniping at each other, but in a sweet and sexy way.

The timeline of this book is longer than the other two and I loved seeing events from Butcher & Blackbird and Leather & Lark from Rose & Fionn’s perspectives. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention one of my favorite sources of comedic relief in this book: Barbara, the racoon. She’s honestly a mood and my new hero.

This is one of my favorite series! I absolutely love how this author brings so much light humor to a dark romance! These books are so gory but also adorably swoony. I love her writing style so much! I can’t wait to see what she decides to write next.

Fionn and Rose’s story was so fun to read! Slightly less gross than Butcher and Blackbird, but not quite as funny in my opinion. I loved their banter and the forced proximity of Rose having to stay with Fionn while she recovered. (He was quite the vibe I loved the doting doctor thing). I also love getting another stabby FMC coming out of this series! Looking forward to see what Brynn does next. Her writing is hilarious!

Scythe & Sparrow is probably my favorite book of the Ruinous Love Trilogy. This is a small town, friends with benefits romance that focuses on the third Kane brother, Fionn, and Rose Evans. We have met both characters in Books 1 and 2, and this books provides their lenses of those scenes and even more! Rose is my favorite character of all! She is unhinged chaos and true to herself. She helps unravel Fionn and opens up the path for him to be comfortable with his darker side. If you enjoy tarot, this book is filled with it! It is unhinged, it is humorous, Barbara has become my spirit animal. It provides a great resolution to the series in general. You’ll enjoy it too! Also, the spice be spicing and I did NOT expect that with the cotton candy. 🙈 BRYNNE KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!

This book is HILARIOUS! And dark, and twisty, and emotional, and everything I didn’t realize it would be. You think you’re going in to read a spicy dark comedy about some serial killers, but it was so much more than that. Fionn and Rose have my entire heart. The sacrifices they made for each other, the internal character growth they both experienced directly because of each other. It was amazing. I also loved the reason behind our FMCs nickname, and the women she’s set out to avenge. Saving women from abusive men hits home for me and this was done beautifully!

I haven’t read many books by this author, I listened to Butcher and Blackbird and wasn’t a fan. Now I’m realizing it was because of the audio, NOT because of the book itself. I’m going to go back and reread B&B as well as read Leather and Lark now!
Brynne Weaver is hilarious, a comedic genius!

Brynne said writing S&S was healing and after reading, I can so easily imagine why.

Rose and Fionn were so different from the other couples in this trilogy but I loved their book all the same. Despite being crazy killers (I mean that's why we're all here, let's not pretend otherwise), their story felt softer than the other Ruinous Love couples. Rose was the FMC that I saw the most of myself in (hello, running off with half-cocked plans). Seeing a strong, bold FMC who was a little like me was the serial killer rep I never knew I needed. And Fionn was her perfect balance and partner in every way I wanted. There's only so much I can say without running into spoilers but for me, this end to the trilogy is everything I wanted and more. 🖤

Because the more women I meet like me, the more I believe the rules were never made with us in mind.

Better than L&L but didn't love it. I was never super invested and it felt a little disjointed at times (might have been the lack of formatting in the arc)

PROS:
The characters and their actions were in line with what I expected.
I enjoyed Fionn's character arc.
The girls building their relationship
Spice started much earlier than the other books
Not *as* gross out/gorey as prior books

CONS:
Had several plot similarities to B&B that felt like a copy/paste
Some of the gore/outrageous spice things felt forced
3rd act conflict
I just kind of didn't care 😬

I can’t believe it’s time to say goodbye to the Cane brothers. In S&S we follow the youngest brother Fionn and Rose. I’m completely obsessed with Rose every word out of her mouth cracks me up. I really enjoyed the story but I do wish we got a little more new plot vs it primarily following what’s happened in the previous 2 books.

MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL EPILOGUES
we get some hints for the next book Brynne is writing 🫣🫣

Listen, when I say Rose is my spirit sister , I mean it. 👏 i absolutely loved this final book in the trilogy. And im so sad that it was the last one. Brynne is and will always be one of my favorite authors. She writes so amazing. From the first chapter, she has you sucked in. Rose is so carefree and just free spirited and feisty , I love it. I was anxious, and laughing, and sad, just all the emotions out through this entire book. I think this one is def my favorite one because of Rose lol the cotton candy part too 🤤 BRYNNE where do you come up with this stuff? 😆

ARC REVIEW

I was excited for Rose + Fionn’s book from the very first moment we met them. Rose is so funny, quippy and hopeful. When she crash lands into Fionn’s life, it turns his whole world upside down.

Rose earned herself the nickname the Sparrow as she reads tarot cards in her traveling circus, helping other women leave their abusive relationships in rather creative ways. Unfortunately, Rose finds herself in a pickle and calls Fionn to help, which throws him back into the darkness that his brothers have embraced. He can’t walk away from Rose, no matter what her chaos tornado of a life brings to him.

One million stars. I might love Fionn the most? All I know is that I will be rereading this series asap, it is funny and dark and oh so spicy. Thank you so much Brynne and team for the ARC!

4.5 stars!! This one was DEFINITELY my favourite in the series 🥹

We see glimpses of Rose and Fionn in both Butcher & Blackbird and Leather & Lark, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Scythe & Sparrow overlaps with both books and gives us the WHOLE timeline and backstory of what was going on in their lives throughout those little interactions we saw in the other books. The timeline for this book was definitely a lot longer than the first two, but I think it worked out perfectly for their relationship dynamic.

I've been waiting for Rose & Fionn's story ever since we first met Rose, I immedately knew I'd love this absolutely crazy firecracker of a human AND I WAS RIGHT HEHE!! Rose is such a wild card in particular, I could never really predict what was going to happen and I really enjoyed the journey that the three of us went on.

I really loved that this instalment in particular still had that dark/romance/fun balance as the other two books, but it felt like it was also so much more than that?! The strangers to friends and then friends-with-benefits to lovers arc was done SO well and I really enjoyed the whole journey. I don't want to go into tooooo much detail about things because even though these are interconnected standalones, I really think that this ties everything together so perfectly and I'm so excited for everyone to be able to read it all soon!

Thank you so much to Anna at Zando Projects for providing me with an eARC ♡

Well, here we are. We have made it to the final book of the Ruinous Love Trilogy and my heart is in its bittersweet feels for this.

Like the previous books, this is told in a first-person dual POV. Rose is a fireball and I love her and her chaos so much! Fionn is a man who has gone through some stuff and he has a journey he needs to take. Their path to accepting love is not a perfect one, but it is a healing one.

Rose is traveling through town with the circus, this also provides her an avenue for identifying her next victims. Much like Sloane and Lark, Rose is a serial deleted ;P She absolutely marches to the beat of her own drum and is fiercely independent. I love her so much! She is not interested in love or settling down, but she thinks Fionn is hot and they do have chemistry.

Fionn is the town doctor, running a clinic. He meets Rose when she is injured after some of her less-than-above-board activities. He is enthralled, but because of his past, there is hesitation. There is no harm in just hooking up, right? FWB is manageable.

Due to the nature of this book, especially, it really was healing, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have read it.

Scythe & Sparrow is a delightfully dark romantic comedy that tosses humor into the chaos while keeping those shadowy vibes alive! We’re wrapping up this series with our last Kane brother, Dr. Fionn, and the ever-enigmatic circus gal, Rose. Unlike B&B and L&L, S&S stretches out the drama, letting us peek into the pivotal moments through both Rose and Fionn’s eyes.

Rose has always danced to her own tune, and this book finally gives us a backstage pass to her wild world! When Fionn stumbles upon the injured Rose, he's instantly captivated by her mysterious energy. As she recuperates in his charming little town, he rolls out the welcome mat to make sure she heals like a champ. But hold onto your hats—her injury has a backstory that’s just itching to come to light, and Rose is eager to hit the road again. The more Fionn digs into her past, the more tangled things get!

Oh, Fionn and his smoldering desires! His loyalty is enough to make your heart go pitter-patter! Who doesn’t love a man who’s ready to stand guard? He embarks on a wild emotional rollercoaster throughout the tale.

And let’s not forget my absolute fave, Barbara! She’s a shining star in this circus of a story! 🦝✨

If you’re the type to skip epilogues, think again! No baby drama here, but trust me, there are a couple of surprises that you won’t want to miss!

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

🎧Song Pairing: 365 - Charli XCX (I’ve given Brat to the other 2 so I just had to!)

💭What I thought would happen:

At this point I expect the greasiest, grossest kind of romance.

📖What actually happens:

🍭Cotton candy @$$ play
🦝Feral pet racoon named Barbara
🩻Spicy doc
🔥Badass tarot reader/kamikaze
🩷Small town romance
😉Forced proximity

🗯Thoughts/sassy musings:

TAME! This one was child’s play in comparison. I wanted more murder and s3zzzz. Can’t believe I just typed that. Certainly being added to some security watch list now 😂

I feel like by the time I’ve gotten to the third book, there is very much a formula to how the story plays out and while enjoyable, I’d love to see some creative differences.

Still good for a laugh! Just read the TWs before starting this book (and series if you haven’t read B&B/L&L)

Look at me ahead of the game getting those 2025 arcs read and reviewed while I get the side eye from my 2024 and some 2023s🫣🫣

This one is out February 11th

Yes yes yes! What happens when a circus motorcycle performer meets a handsome doctor? A GOOD FREAKIN TIME! This was a fun, humorous, and thrilling dark romance! Rose and Fionn are EVERYTHING with their sizzling, friends-to-lovers dynamic, drenched with witty banter and intense passion. I think this may be my favorite in the trilogy, and that is saying a lot because I love Rowan and Sloane!

The book was pure entertainment with its dark humor and SPICE, delivering romance in a way that made me blush and chuckle—in equal measure. If you’re a fan of unconventional romances with a dash of murder, mayhem, and dark comedy and one of the BEST female MCs, read this! It is a wild, murderous ride wrapped in a surprisingly tender (and bloody) love story.

4.5 stars rounded up!

I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this book! I was expecting Rose to be this hard shell that covers her emotions but it was so refreshing to read her inner thoughts and fears. She cares so deeply and her reasoning for doing the things she did to help those women was just so amazing. Also this book would not be complete without a terror as a pet lol! I loved Barbara and the suture sisters! I don't want this world Brynne has created to end!

Thank you to Brynne for an advanced copy of this book. I literally squealed when I saw the email🤣

This book was everything I'd hoped it would be and more! One of the main things I have enjoyed about this series is how different all three of the books are. Brynne could have very easily written B&B over and over again, and I wouldn't have complained. Instead, she's taken so much care into making sure that each book is so unique and can stand firmly on its own. I respect her so much for taking us on different journeys with each of the Kane brothers and the women they love.

Now, onto the specifics of Scythe & Sparrow! Let's start off with Rose. She's very different from Sloane and Lark, and it was so refreshing watching her trying to do her thing throughout the book without the experience our previous two leading ladies had. I loved getting to know her background and seeing why she makes the choices she does. I was honestly rooting for her to be happy right from the start. I was desperate for her to realise that she deserved to be loved and to be able to wish for more from her life.

Now, onto Fionn. This man and his pining!!!! And his loyalty!! We love a protective man! It was clear to see he was whipped for Rose. I was literally screaming at him to break his rules and go for it. Of course, Brynne doesn't make it easy for us. He went on such an emotional journey throughout the book. There is so much i want to say but can't because of spoilers, but I could write an essay on this man.

Overall, Brynne has delivered another winner. The plot moves at a great pace, and there are no parts that lagged. Rose and Fionn's relationship developed so well. They both had to heal some inner conflicts before being ready to think about accepting each other. Amazing job Brynne❤️❤️❤️

Overall, I enjoyed Fionn and Rose. Fionn is just the cutest little crocheter you ever did read. But I knew going into this book it was going to be hard to top Butcher and Blackbird. That book is still unlike anything I’ve read and so so much fun. So when I had a hard time with Leather and Lark and Scythe and Sparrow, I wasn’t totally surprised. I mean I knew it was going to be hard to top B&B. That’s why I’m giving this 3 stars. It’s very hard not to compare them but I can’t help it. There were just parts of this book, especially towards the end, that just felt a little forced? Like we needed more to make the book a little longer? It just didn’t flow as well for me like B&B did and I think that’s to be somewhat expected when the first book in a series just, in my opinion, nailed it perfectly. So overall, I enjoyed majority of this book and will be getting a copy for my shelf next to B&B and L&L.

An epic conclusion to an epic series! After devouring the first two in the series, I was so excited to read Scythe & Sparrow and it did not disappoint. Brynn Weaver is a masterful author and one thing I love about her books is the dark humor and lightness within the dark themes. She knows how to mix a good balance between horror and comedy and makes a sweet romance in between the story. This one might be my favorite.

She's a performer and he's a doctor. perfect match. Rose and Fionn truly stole my heart. It's chaotic, dramatic, horror and fun and so sweet in the middle of it. This book you will have the best time reading and you will not be bored at any moment. I swooned, laughed and got emotional and felt a bittersweet moment realizing that its the ending but I couldn't imagine a better ending for them and seeing them all end up happy. Its the type of book that you have to go in blind and trust the process and trust that story is amazing and that it will shock you, intrigue you and make you happy at the end and thats exactly what this story was and I loved every bit of their story and this series.

fionnrose were so intriguing from their first apparition in b&b and their story DIDNT MISS. it was AMAZING OMG

I feel like people who didn’t love L&L will have a field with this book bc it’s the perfect mix of lachlanlark’s longing and sloanerowan’s chemistry

we got to know so much more of rose and fionn as characters and I must say I love them separately but also so much together. their story was full of banter, friendship, spice and longing. the writing in this book was really good and put so much emphasis on the feelings they were both having for each other

this book was paradoxically the most spicy and romantic of the trilogy. be aware that they are entering a friends with benefits deal at some point and THEY ARE FREAKY….

this last installment was amazing to end the trilogy. we got a great romance, an amazing writing, some really sweet found family moments, gruesome mayhem and of course a big dose of humour

one of my favourite thing also about this book is how their storyline was overlapping the two previous books. that was so fun to see the other sides of some moments happening in the other books

I will probably reread the book just bc it was just so soft and entertaining! I can’t wait to see what brynne has in store for us in the future bc dark romcoms is for sure a genre she is excellent at

ratings:
overall: 4.5 ⭐️
spice: 3.75🌶️
tension: 3.5⚡️
