Juniper has started her new job to set up a museum for the Calverton family. The family has upset the town with their ideas for new growth and, on her first day, she is harassed by protestors, insulted by board members and a co-worker, and feels totally in over her head. She learns some valuable Edgar Allen Poe books are missing from the collection. Later, she finds a body in the library, with one of their missing Poe books. Soon she is busy trying to solve the case of the missing books and the murder.
The town is lovely and characters well-done. The mystery was cleverly woven and fun to read. Thanks to Level Best Books and NetGalley for the ARC.
I was late to the party with this series, despite many recommendations I didn't read book one of this series, Crime and Parchment, until the beginning of this month. I definitely enjoyed it, so when I saw the second book was available on #Netgally, I jumped. Wow! I enjoyed the first book, but this second was even better. Juniper has just started her new job at the Calverton library and museum. Her first day finds her being accosted at the gate by the anti resort protest group, meeting two employees she didn't know she had, having to meet and greet the Board of Directors and ending up finding a dead body in her unopened library with a stolen book in his possession. From there, we are on a wild ride. How can Juniper help the Calvertons with their image problem while saving the small town's charm? Why is she having a hard time garnering respect from her employees and the board? Who is stealing first edition books from the library? How did someone get murdered in a closed facility? You definitely want to spend time with Juniper, Azalea, and Violet while we get some answers, adventures, and hometown charms. Definitely strongly recommended! Many thanks to #Netgally, #BestLevelBook, and the author for an opportunity to read! #TheTell-TaleHomicide #RareBooksCozyMysteries #DaphneSilver #bookreview #bookideas #retiredreader
This is a good book. I would recommend it. A murder with the victim holding a Poe short Story. It has it's humorous parts. And the mystery is a good one.
#TheTellTaleHomicide #NetGalley is the second book in this witty cozy mystery featuring sisters Juniper and Azalea.
Juniper is starting her new job for the Calverton's, but not everyone is a fan of this founding family.
Tempers flare, arguments are heated, and when a dead body is found, clutching an Edgar Allan Poe book, Juniper can't help but feel the need to investigate.
I like this series, the characters are easy to like, and the author describes an almost perfect setting for the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
