This riveting novel explores the complex relationship between two sisters, Alice and Tasha, who come from starkly different worlds. Alice, bright and enjoying a very successful career with immense wealth and multiple homes, and Tasha, a part time worker and mom raising twins with her husband, Alice and Tasha are very close and agree to a plan: to switch lives for one week. What starts as a lighthearted escape quickly descends into chaos, tragedy, and shocking revelations.
Tasha longs to experience Alice’s glamorous lifestyle, while Alice seeks a break from the pressures of her high-profile life by stepping into her sister’s modest shoes. But the seemingly harmless experiment turns catastrophic when a home invasion during the switch leads to the brutal murder of Alice’s husband, Kyle, while he is caring for Tasha’s twins.
The book masterfully weaves a tale filled with twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The story line also includes the kidnapping of their baby sister Holly.
The author delves deeply into themes of identity, envy, familial bonds, and the devastating impact of secrets. The contrast between the sisters’ lives is vividly portrayed, and the narrative forces readers to question the decisions and sacrifices each sister has made.
The shocking ending ties the story together in an unexpected and thought-provoking way, leaving readers with lingering questions about trust and betrayal. The emotional depth, combined with the suspenseful plot, makes this book impossible to put down.
Highly recommended for readers who enjoy family dramas with a suspenseful edge and a touch of psychological intrigue.
Thank you NetGalley, Harper Perennial and Paperbacks and Claire Douglas for an advanced copy of this book.
Great book. Some interesting twists. A little unreal but it's fiction. Worth reading and I enjoyed it.
This book took me on alot of loops and twisted turns. Very good progression of the story plot. I would definitely recommend this book if you are into twisty thrillers. Love the dual POV too.
I really enjoyed how unique the storyline was. This book was fantastic, packed with characters you can't trust and a plot that constantly misleads you. From start to finish, every page felt intentional, and it had me on my toes the whole time. The characters were relatable and well-crafted, and the unexpected twists—especially in the last two chapters—totally blew my mind!
Thank You @NetGalley and Harper Perennial and Paperbacks | Harper Paperbacks for allowing me to review this book.
OMG can I first say that this is the first book I have read by this author but it will not be the last. I started reading this book and could not put it down but I had to. But every time I picked it up and read more and more I was so sure I knew who was the killer that when I got to the end I was like OMG I did not see that coming.
There is so much going on in this book from a baby being abducted to couples needing to rekindle their love to couples being killed and hurt and so much covering up of things that I was like what the hell is going on here. I felt so bad for Tasha because she is so in love with her husband but they have not spent that much time together since she had the twins. Then you have her sister Alice and her husband Kyle. They are a super couple living the life and they are rich that they suggest that Tasha and her husband go to their vacation home for a week to rekindle their marriage.
There's so much going on in this book that you are going to say what the hell is going on. This is one book I will re-read because it was that good. So when it comes out go on and get it.
I want to day Thank You to Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC.
I've been looking forward to reading this one! This is one of those books where I truly had no idea who was guilty until the very last second. I suspected each person at one point or another. I did feel as though there were a few too many characters at some points and it got confusing but it was well tied together in the end. This is definitely a great book worth reading!
Two sisters Tasha and Alice are very close but they lead very different lifestyles. Tasha is married and has a set of 4 year old twins. She lives a humble but stable existence with her childhood sweetheart. Alice is extremely successful and has recently married a wealthy and successful man named Kyle. Alice feels for her sister and decides to treat her and her husband to a getaway at her Italian home. In return, Alice and Kyle will stay at Tasha’s and care for the twins. Unfortunately, things go terribly wrong and Alice and Kyle are attacked, and Kyle is ultimately killed by the intruder. Although it seemed a random attack, upon returning home, Tasha receives a note saying the wrong sister was attacked. Who is threatening her and wanting her to be hurt? As the two sisters struggle to find what is going on they find themselves looking to the past for answers. This was a twisty read that I enjoyed. I gave it 3.5 stars.
Thank you, NetGalley for giving me access to this book before it is released to the public. I was so excited when I was approved because I love Claire Douglas!!
I was a little nervous to read this one because of a few of the reviews but, I didn’t let that stop me! I freaking loved this one! So many twists and turns. I wish the ending was different but, overall absolutely loved this thriller. I can’t wait for people to get their hands on this, it’s going to be amazing!
3.75 stars for me. The beginning of the book was a little slow to start but definitely picked up in the middle. Towards the very end it did get a little hard to follow with how many twists were going on.
WOW! I am speechless! Such a psychological nail biter that kept me on the edge of my seat! The secrets, the twist, it was packed with it from start to finish! If you love a book about secrets and who you can and can not trust, then this book is for you!
The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas is a must read, I could not put it down! It is full of twists and turns and an ending I did not expect!
The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas was an “okay” read for me. I had high expectations going in, based on the description and the fact that the author has written several popular books with great reviews. The beginning of the book really caught my attention, and I thought the story started off strong. I was still engaged in the middle, curious about the identity of the murderer and eager to reach the conclusion. Unfortunately, the ending was a letdown. While I didn’t guess the killer’s identity, I didn’t experience that thrilling, jaw-dropping moment either. The motive behind the crime felt far-fetched and somewhat absurd. I did, however, learn about chimerism, which was new to me, but I think this concept could have been used more effectively to enhance the story. Some of the characters and side plots felt unnecessary or didn’t contribute much to the overall narrative, and there were a few unresolved questions that left me feeling unsatisfied. I gave the book 3 stars because I finished it in a day and it held my interest, but I had to lower my rating due to these issues.
"Life Swap" sounds perfect, right? Two sisters, one is wealthy and has an apartment in Venice and one has little twin girls in a small village in England. They agree to trade houses and 'lives' for 1 week. Tasha, the busy mom of twins loves Venice and hopes to rekindle some romance with her husband. Alice, the super auntie, is loving the 'mom-life' and her adorable nieces with her hot hubby. It's exhausting but fun until she hears an intruder in the middle of the night and sends the hot hubby to check it out... Tasha receives a message in Venice that her sister is in hospital with a head injury and the hot hubby is DEAD. What??? The twins slept through it all and Tasha hurries home to find out what happened. Everyone assumes it's a burglary gone wrong until a note is slipped under the door that reads: It was supposed to be you!
Tasha feels like she's living in the shadow of her older sister Alice, who has a high-powered career, a successful husband, and a glamorous lifestyle. She jumps at the chance to spend a week with her husband at Alice's fancy apartment in Venice while Alice and her husband babysit Tasha's young twins. They've barely gotten settled in Venice before they have to rush back home--Alice's husband has been murdered in what appears to be a brutal home invasion. Of course, nothing is what it seems, and as secrets are uncovered, we learn more about the sisters and their tangled relationship and past.
This book definitely held my interest, with steadily ratcheting suspense as Tasha tries to figure out whether she and her family are also at risk. Secrets are slowly revealed, with a very satisfying climax.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was good in the beginning then got really slow and kind of confusing. Picked up again in the end. I give it a 3 out of 5. I probably won't recommend as I only recommend books I rate 4 or 5. Thank you for letting me read you book.
The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas is an intense quick moving thriller. It has clever twists and a compelling storyline that makes this a fabulous page turner. It’s one my favorite Claire Douglas book to date!
A story that begins with 2 sisters who are different as night and day in their life styles, but bonded by love. The story has its twists and turns, but it defines one strong point. How far will you go to defend a member of your family that you love. I enjoyed this book from Claire Douglas and I thank Net Galley for allowing me the pleasure of an early read. It’s fast moving.
Very well done, and the twist at the end shook me. Some information earlier in the book had made me consider the possibility of the ending, but it was skimmed over so I had forgotten about it.
Tasha and Aaron have been wrapped up in raising their young, twin daughters and lost the spark to their marriage.
Tasha’s sister, Alice, and her new husband, Kyle, live a life of luxury and offer to swap lives with Tasha and Aaron for a week. They’ll come take care of the girls and the parents can spend a week in their Venice vacation home.
Only a couple days into the swap, tragedy strikes when someone attacks Alice and Kyle while the twins are sleeping, leaving Kyle dead and Alice in the hospital.
The same night, Tasha and Aaron evaded a man with a knife in Venice.
30 years ago, Alice and Tasha’s infant sister was kidnapped and never found.
When a familial DNA match is found at the scene of Kyle’s demise, the sisters and their mother begin to consider the possibility that Holly is back, and that her life did not turn out as theirs had.
This story is told in multiple parts from multiple perspectives, and will have you grasping for the answers that are tied up neatly in the end.
The reason this was not a 5 star read for me is because I need more answers behind the note Tasha received. I’m not going to leave a spoiler so this is vague, but did the note leaver know what was happening? If they didn’t, why would they have left such a sinister note? Alice wasn’t the one who died, Kyle was. The note leaver was obsessed with Aaron’s life, so they wouldn’t have wanted Aaron to have died. Was this strictly pertaining to Alice being in the hospital instead of Tasha?
Another incredible book. While some of the twists and turns were predictable, I definitely did NOT see all of them coming. The way that the author wove all of the stories together was remarkable. I look forward to recommending this book to my network!! Thank you to the publisher for giving me an opportunity to review an ARC in exchanging for my honest review.
One of my Favorite Books!!! I was NOT expecting the ending at all. Highly recommend reading this one!
