This was a novel centered around the death of Tasha's brother-in-law while he is at her house with her sister Alice, watching the twins while Tasha and her hubby are enjoying Venice, compliments of Alice. Alice had been knocked out and it appears to have been a burglary gone wrong except for............................ many things.
I eventually decided I knew who was responsible and I was right, but dang, that story did not end how I thought it would. Interesting characters and just enough intrigue to keep you turning the pages. I enjoyed it.
Thank you Harper and NetGalley for this ARC.
I consider myself fairly good at predicting character arcs and answers to mysteries, but was stumped as to what the ending would be and was hooked from the first chapter. The suspense I felt is what makes me give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for the ARC.
I was super pleasantly surprised by this book!
I had never read anything by this author before but this definitely won’t be my last.
From start to finish, I was intrigued. I actually really liked the characters, the plot line was interesting, I even said “what!” a few times because I was so surprised.
I tried to guess the ending but it never occurred to me. This was just all around a great book.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for the ARC of this book!
Wow! What a book!
This is my first book by Claire Douglas and I am impressed.
It kept me guessing until the end!
Thanks Net Galley!
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read and review "The Wrong Sister". Claire Douglas gave me everything I am looking for in a Thriller with an ending I could have never predicted. I devoured this book in one sitting. We follow sisters, Tasha and Alice. Tasha has always felt like she lived in the shadows of Alice. Alice is married to a wealthy entrepreneur named Kyle. Tasha is married to her childhood sweetheart, Harry. Tasha and Harry live in the suburbs with their four-year old twins. Alice realizes that Tasha is struggling with many aspects of her life she decides to do a life swap for a week. This is where things go completely wrong. Highly recommend!
5 stars over and over again!!
I adore this author and Claire Douglas has written another 5 star thriller.
Tasha and her husband, Aaron, are on vacation while her sister and brother-in-law watch their children. A couple of nights later, her brother-in-law is murdered and Tasha's sister injured by an intruder. Tasha and Aaron race back home to try and help her sister put her life back in order and to help the cops figure out who would have targeted them. Did the intruder make a mistake and go after the wrong sister?
This is twisty and full of turns, told from different points of view.
*chef's kiss*
Go read this!
Thank you to NetGalley for the copy to review!
I devoured his book. I loved the fast pace. I was so excited when I received the email from NetGalley that I had been chosen for the ARC. This book kept me guessing till the very end. I’d give 5 stars, but I wanted a tad more at the end. It’s an awesome book though!!
The book kicks off with a lot of promise, offering a compelling plot and intriguing twists that draw you in. However, as the story progresses, it starts to lose some of its steam. Midway through, it begins to flatten out, with important plot points being introduced but not fully explored. There’s also a significant twist toward the end that I didn’t see coming, but it felt oddly underplayed, as if it were treated like a minor detail rather than a game-changer.
The ending, while somewhat satisfying, falls short of the book's earlier energy. It feels rushed, leaving a few loose ends that raise more questions than they answer. Despite a conclusion that provides some closure, it didn’t offer the level of resolution I was hoping for, which left me switching from a 4 to a 3-star rating. Overall, it was a quick, enjoyable read, but the lack of deeper explanations and a more fulfilling finale kept it from reaching its full potential.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of The Wrong Sister.
The story starts out great with a lot going on and a lot of potential for where this book could go. About halfway through the book, the story flattens out. There are multiple parts of the story that seem to be relevant but are only touched upon and not fully given their due relating to the overall story.
The reveal was a twist I didn't see coming! But it is treated like it is "no big deal." There were things that happened in the beginning of the book that would typically have been explained and wrapped up by the end of the book and they seemed to have been forgotten, never mentioned again. I was left with questions about why they were even mentioned.
Overall the book was fine, it’s not the greatest nor the worst. It was a plus that it was a quick read!
This book, I went back and forth on who was to blame, thought I figured it all out and was still blown away when I got to the ending. Finished this is one setting because I could not put it down.
The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas was my first read of 2025 and it was the perfect way to kick off the year. Read in less than 24 hours, I could not put the book down.
Tasha and Aaron are the parents of twin girls. They live a modest family life. Alice, Tasha's sister and her husband Kyle on the other hand are living large. With fancy careers, multiple homes, a fancy car and money to burn the lives of the two sisters could not be more different.
Alice and Kyle offer Tasha and Aaron their apartment in Venice and come stay with the girls so the couple can get away for their anniversary to enjoy some time together and rekindle their romance. The couples swap lives for a week, but only a few days in, Tasha and Aaron receive a call. There has been what appears to be a break in at their home. Kyle is dead and Alice is in the hospital. The couple races home to their twin girls who are being cared for by Kyle's mother. That is when a note arrives that says, "It was supposed to be you."
This book takes the reader for so many twists and turns as the story unfolds. There are many different layers as secrets are exposed one by one. It held my attention from start to finish and did not leave me disappointed!
For those who like a good thriller, with well-developed characters, and an enticing story line, this is book for you!
Thank you, Harper Perennial and Paperbacks and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this captivating book.
This was a a fun read with a lot of twists throughout. I enjoyed the multiple storylines and it’s easy to follow each character as the narrator changes between chapters. I enjoyed the ending and felt it all the plot lines were resolved well. I never felt a lull in the story. This book really kept my attention and I didn’t want to put it down.
Whoa! I loved this way more than I thought I would. I couldn’t help but keep picking it up and reading a chapter any chance I got.
Twists!
Multiple POVs!
Quick chapters! (For some reason I love this!)
I figured majority of it out throughout the book, but it was fun making my brain work to figure it out. Claire Douglas makes you love the right characters and also despise the not so great ones.
thankful to NetGalley for approving me to read this!
4 out of 5 stars for sure, highly recommend!
After 2 sisters do a “life swap” one husband is left dead and the search is on for who did it! Tasha is left wondering if the killer got the wrong family and lies and secrets start unfolding!
A great thriller that keeps you guessing!! Thank you NetGalley for the arc!
The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas is full of suspense and secrets, making for a great read that kept my interest from page one.
Tasha feels she can't compete with her sister Alice, who's very successful in her career. When Alice's husband is killed in what looks like a home invasion, secrets are revealed and Tasha needs to figure out if her and her family are in danger.
Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Publishing for the digital copy of this book. I give it a strong four stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I don’t even know how to feel about this book. It has so much potential and then in the last 7 or so chapters, it was just rushed so badly to the point where it seemed too far fetched. :(
Book Review: The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas
⭐ Rating: 3.5-4 Stars
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for this e-ARC!
Claire Douglas has crafted an intriguing thriller in The Wrong Sister that kept me hooked from start to finish. This is an easy-to-read, binge-worthy novel with a great plot and well-drawn characters. I devoured it in a single day!
At first, I had to take a moment to untangle the characters and their roles in the storyline, but once I got my footing, I was completely immersed. The tension between Tasha and Alice, the stark contrasts in their lives, and the dramatic consequences of their “lifeswap” made for a compelling read.
However, the ending fell just shy of being as strong as the rest of the book. It felt rushed and left a few loose ends that raised more questions than answers. While the conclusion was satisfying to an extent, it didn’t deliver the level of closure I hoped for, which is why I’m torn between a 3.5 and 4-star rating.
That said, this is still a book I’d recommend, especially to fans of domestic thrillers. The Wrong Sister offers a unique premise and enough twists to keep you turning the pages. Claire Douglas is officially on my radar, and I’m looking forward to exploring her other books in the future.
Synopsis:
Tasha has always felt overshadowed by her older sister, Alice, whose glamorous life as the wife of a wealthy entrepreneur contrasts sharply with Tasha’s suburban life with her childhood sweetheart and twin toddlers. When Alice suggests a week-long lifeswap—Tasha and her husband, Harry, in Venice while Alice and Kyle stay with the twins—it seems like an opportunity for both sisters to reset.
But their plan takes a sinister turn when Tasha gets the call: Alice is in the hospital, Kyle is dead, and their house was broken into. A note soon arrives: It was supposed to be you.
What really happened that night? Was the attack meant for Alice—or for Tasha? As the sisters dig deeper, they risk uncovering something far more dangerous than they ever imagined.
If you enjoy thrillers with family drama and suspense, The Wrong Sister is worth adding to your TBR.
Claire Douglas delivered once again in this suspenseful thriller about sisters and family. I enjoyed the whole thing and guessed the main twist but there were still a lot of surprises. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
This is a very suspenseful book with vivid and likable characters. When tragedy strikes you are constantly guessing who was involved and who really is who,
Tasha and Alice are sisters. Tasha married her childhood sweetheart Aaron and they have twins and live in their hometown in a relatively normal, calm lifestyle. Alice became a scientist and married Kyle, and they have multiple homes and fancy cars. Alice suggests a Holiday-esque “Life Swap” for a week so Tasha and Aaron can have some alone time in Venice and Alice and Kyle will stay at Tasha’s house taking care of the twins. While there, the house is broken into and Kyle and Alice are attacked leaving Alice injured in the hospital and Kyle dead. After coming home, Tasha finds a note through her door saying “It was supposed to be you.”
There’s a secondary story of Holly, Tasha and Alice’s little sister who was kidnapped at 7 months old. They’ve always wondered what happened to her and now some familial dna is found at the crime scene. Did Holly have something to do with this? Are there connections here between the attack and Holly’s disappearance?
I liked the book and the story kept me engaged, but I felt that there were way too many loose ends, unanswered questions, and pieces to the story that just never came together. I also felt the ending was revealed very abruptly with no lead up. While not a shocking ending, it could have been done in a much more satisfying way. But I still have unanswered questions and that’s annoying as a reader. Because of that I would have to give this book 3.5⭐️ If the loose ends were tied up, this would be a solid 4. But I think it’s going to frustrate some readers.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Harper Publushing for the advance reader copy. This is my honest review. Publication date Aug 5, 2025
