Expressions of Love
Holly is a very relatable character for most kids. A simple school assignment and afternoon with her friend displays a common glimpse of many children’s afternoons. Her story took a turn I did not initially expect based on the title. I think this book is versatile for individuals and classes. It provides sustainment resources for educators and adults to support the child/children audience members.
The illustrations bring you into Holly’s world as she prepares for Show and Tell and takes you through her evolution to learn a valuable life lesson.
I received a free copy of this book from Gina Prosch and Boys Town Press Publishing. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.
I think this is a good story for children that teaches in a fun and entertaining way about responsibility. Additionally, the illustrations are marvelous and captures the interest of the reader. Great job!
Love! Is Show and Tell, is a story that brings the saying,
‘Actions speak louder that words’ to life in a sweet and age appropriate way for children.
This story is filled with teachable moments that are perfect for prompting discussions about: How we show love to others; how we react when we are upset (Mom vs Holly) and why it’s important to put the needs of others before ourself.
Gina and Kyle skillfully involve the ‘child reader’ without the need for them to be able to read through their use of a decodable picture note from Holly’s mum. This was a great way to help further engage the reader. This can easily be encorporated as a follow-up task for teachers in terms of children creating their own picture notes for others to decipher.
The illustrations by Kyle Merriman are bright, colourful and have a cartoon/animation style. They brilliantly compliment the story.

A colourful children's book with some strong messages and life lessons. I found this to be a longer book so not really for very young children. It would be good for an early reader too.
This book told the story of Clara and a tough lesson she learned. The illustrations were great and we loved reading about the cat. While I felt like the message was good, it took a lot to get to the point and was hard for my son to follow the message. It was a cute book and a good message, but I felt the deliver was a bit jumbled.
The story of a late elementary school child and her friend who learn the importance of responsibility and what it means to show and tell love.
Reading this with my daughter who is just getting to be big enough to enjoy longer books. This was a fun read for us, the story was sweet, and engaging enough to keep her attention and the illustrations are beautiful. Section with tips for parents and educators is always a welcome addition at the end of these books.
this book is really a good and inspiring book for kids . It also gives the moral lesson to kid, the pictures and the way it conveys the message very easily. it is very interesting and enjoyable book for kids.
Adorable and great little tool for teaching the importance of showing with actions!
I loved that the illustration style felt like animation you'd see on tv or in a movie!

Holly learns a hard lesson about showing love. She and her friend work hard on their show and tell project and then head outside to play with the new bubble wands her mom left for them. After her friend leaves, they go back in the house and discover the kitchen is a mess. Holly scolds her cat but her mom asks her if she followed the directions and fed her. She makes up excuses so her mom uses this as a teaching moment about showing love not just telling someone. Readers will see what happens with these choices, and, hopefully, choose to show their love too. Brightly colored illustrations capture the emotions and action in this story. A terrific read together for families.
Wow, wow, wow!! I love this book (and I am SHOWING it by writing this review!)! Honestly, I kind of wish that I had this book when I was younger. I've never really seen a book with such a cohesive and rare, but still *wildly* important message. It is amazing that this book is for young readers, because it is good for this message to be taught early. Additionally, the message was clear and made so much sense. The author achieved this so flawlessly by including the full conversation between Holly and her mom. Holly's mom hinted at showing love, but it was Holly who came to the realization that just simply saying "I love you" isn't enough to really let someone know that you love and care about them. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this book so, lastly, the illustrations were very colorful and beautiful, while still being very realistic in a way.
This book was absolutely amazing. Bravo!
Love! It's SHOW and Tell helps explain how actions are also an important way to show love to others. I liked that it gave age appropriate examples of how kids can show love, including random acts of kindness. The illustrations were cute and the cat, Aunt Gladys, brings some humor.
