Expect 👉🏼 Grumpy/Sunshine, Forced Proximity, Traveling Nurse/Smoke Jumper, Twisty, Age Gap
Jamie is a traveling nurse that finds herself drawn to one of her new roommates. On the surface Calvin is closed off and gruff but the more she pushed him, the more he lets her in.
I flew through this book. The narrators did a beautiful job of bringing this story to life. I loved the gradual build of the relationship and the twists in this one. Though I saw the first twist coming, the second one had my jaw on the floor.
Thank you brilliance publishing for the #gifted audio to read and review.

I love Jewel's books.
Her books are definitely for adults and not for children or teenagers.
There are several themes in this book that influence the flow of the story, affecting the course of the book in a very complex and complicated way.
First, the unusual love story between a firefighter and a traveling nurse.
I have to admit that I had no idea that traveling nurses exist.
But I find it interesting and fascinating.
Secondly, we have the very complicated family situation of both main characters.
It's a back-and-forth throughout the whole book until the cruel secret is revealed shortly before the end.
Then of course we have our firefighter hero.
For me, just practicing this profession qualifies him to be a superhero, but of course there is so much more to his character than that.
The book is riddled with so much trauma, I wouldn't know where to start if I could and shouldn't review the book spoiler-free 😉
I've already read a few books by Jewel and they were very good and I really loved them.
Transcend is unbelievably good.
This book is not my favorite.
I can't even tell you why.
It just didn't click.
I couldn't connect with the characters.
The book is beautiful and talks about a lot of secrets, lies, and processing of past traumas.
The story has a deeply sad, depressing vibe the whole time.
I don't know how to describe it in any other way.
It's just not a book for me.
Oh my goodness this audiobook was absolutely fantastic. It hooked me in from the very first chapter and kept me hooked the entire time!
It's such a great and sweet story I highly recommend it for those who love romance but want a strong plot with twists, drama, and trauma.
Such a beautiful story and it was one of my favorite tropes. Enemies to lovers. They were intense, sassy and wildly strong willed. Calvin was smexy and perfect in all the right ways and there wasn’t one thing I didn’t like about Jamie! It is a little spicy, so If you’re looking for a good contemporary romance then this is the book for you. And I don’t want to forget to mention the audiobook! Ada Sinclair and Nelson Hobbs were the perfect couple do the voices and I really enjoyed it.
