In The Final Truth the third book of the Rachel McKenzie mysteries Rachel, a fiscal in Inverness, finally solves the mystery surrounding her mother's death and her father's imprisonment. This series has been very enjoyable if a little far fetched as to how involved fiscals get in investigating crimes. Rachel is a very determined character who will stop at nothing to get to the truth and she seems to take others along with her! I really hope this isn't the end of the series and we do hear more about Rachel and her adventures in the future.

Rachel McKenzie is a lawyer and wanna be police officer. She finds herself caught up in her own ideas and theories, investigating leads much to the chagrin of the local police department. When an up and coming journalist goes missing, Rachel remembers their last conversation when he told her that he might be in danger. When a man is found dead in suspicious circumstances, Rachel thinks there is a connection to the journalist’s disappearance. Rachel seems to rub everyone the wrong way as she rifles through old documents and starts asking questions.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC copy. Overall, the book was enjoyable but not exciting. It was a cozy mystery type read. This is my honest opinion

The search for answers continues....

The Final Truth is the third book in the Rachel McKenzie mystery series. Rachel is investigating a case that hits a little close to home! When a body is found in a cemetery, Rachel learns that the victim is connected to a case which her mother was involved in years ago. Rachel has always been haunted by her mother's disappearance and is determined to get to the truth! But just as determined as she is to get to the truth, there is someone who wants her to drop the case!

With threats and danger looming, Rachel is not willing to give up. She is being helped by Selena MacDonald, a local officer who is just as determined as Rachel is to get to the truth. I have enjoyed how Rachel has always been determined and driven to learn the truth about her mother's disappearance and her father’s possible involvement in her mom’s disappearance. In this book we see her interactions with her incarcerated father and there is also a blast from her past (Angus) who comes back into her orbit.

This book had a nice number of twists and turns along with a reveal which provides Rachel with answers. Plus, the setting in Scotland provides atmosphere and I enjoyed the parks where Rachel is outside hiking. There is also a nice amount of tension, danger, and mystery to keep readers interest piqued.

Chilling, tense, gripping, well written, well thought out, and brimming with mystery!

I loved the Rachel McKenzie series. She is a stubborn young lawyer who will take any risk to uncover the truth. In this final book, she has found the truth about her mother's disappearance. Morag Pringle tells the story well.

In the prologue to The Final Truth, investigative journalist Eric Hunter is murdered. We know he has sent his research to prosecutor Rachel McKenzie. Rachel, who has ties to organized crime through a mystery involving her mother’s death, must find Eric’s well hidden information. She is also dealing with the puzzling death of naked man found without identification in a local cemetery. As she investigates both cases, she believes there is a link between the two deaths and a gang involved in sex trafficking. Can she solve this case before there is another death? Is she in danger? And will she ever know who killed her mother?

If you enjoy Scottish police procedurals, this is the mystery for you! A complex plot, well described characters and an atmospheric location make The Final Truth a fast-paced, intriguing read. I look forward to what comes next from Morag Pringle and I hope this series will continue. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Morag Pringle for this ARC.

Completely unforgettable, and will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Wow, just wow! I absolutely loved this one! The third installment of the Rachel McKenzie will be one that you cannot put down. Prepare for a case that is going to leave you twisting and pacing as you try and figure it out. The killer is determined to keep Rachel from unraveling the clues and finally closing the questions into the death of her mother. As this case takes a very personal turn, her father tries warning her away from investigating further.
Rachel is not one to back down, and so she forges ahead, regardless of the personal harm that could come to her. As she continues to dig, she will discover that there are some around her that she should not trust, and some she should trust more.

An absolute gem of a read! This book (and series if you have not read it) will keep you engaged and wanting more!

Love a book that is set in parts of Scotland I’m very familiar with. Thankfully when visiting them I didn’t come across the villains that Rachel McKenzie has to contend with as she tries to get justice as a prosecutor. Just as well she has plenty of friends to help. Because with her jump in, never backdown attitude she needs them. They also really added to my enjoyment of this crime thriller. I hadn’t read the previous two books, without feeling lost in the bigger series’ plots. But they were immediately added to my TBR list. Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC. Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

I sure hope this isn't the last book in this series! The author's note at the end was a bit ambiguous. At any rate, a highly enjoyable, fast-paced story where Rachel finds out the truth about her mother's murder, Angus makes an appearance (yay), and several other mysteries are all tied together. It's amazing how many plot lines are woven in and yet it doesn't feel overwhelming and there are parts you never see coming together as they eventually do. Mags continues to be one of my favorite characters. She offers a lot of humor and some rather impressive insight into Rachel's emotional well being. You should really start with book one, if you haven't before getting to this one, as all three are very quick reads. Hopefully we'll see more of Rachel and crew.

Rachel McKenzie is back, and this time her investigations lead her closer to home.

A body is found in a local cemetery, and prosecutor Rachel McKenzie is on the case. This time, the victim has close ties to her mother- who went missing year ago.

She enlists the help of Selena MacDonald, a local constable, and I enjoyed this female investigation duo.

Having read the first two books, I was anxious to know the truth behind her mother's disappearance and the role of other family members. This is a solid mystery series, one I will recommend!

Rachel’s life as a prosecutor in the Scottish Highlands has been filled with the challenges of confronting death. When a body is found in a local cemetery, she is suddenly faced with a case that hits home. Years before, Rachel’s mother was involved in an investigation that led to her mysterious disappearance. Rachel jumps into the investigation, hoping to find out what really happened to her mother.
Rachel seeks the help of Detective Constable Selena MacDonald, but the trail soon runs cold. Rachel desperately combs the original files from her mother's case and finds a possible link to a remote Scottish island.
But someone doesn’t want her raking up the past, and she discovers her own life is in danger when someone ransacks her home and attacks her neighbor. She now has a difficult choice. Should she give up her desperate search for the truth for her own safety and for those closest to her?

Thank you to Netgalley and Storm for the opportunity to preview this book. This is the third in this series and was equally tense and entertaining as the first two. They really need to be read in sequence to follow the story. There are strong female characters in Rachel, Selena and Mags who are all feisty and determined. It was unputdownable with various threads running through. Look forward to the next book from Morag Pringle. Maybe Mags could become a private detective. It would certainly be entertaining.

So we finally found out what happened to Rachel's mother, and the role her father played in the story. This was a tension packed journey, with murders , bashings and threats all round. Rachel does stick to her guns, and follows it through to the end, letting her questions about her father to be sorted out. I enjoyed her relationship with Angus, and wonder whether there is more to be told. The way the sub plots evolved was riveting. The Scottish setting was beautifully done, and I enjoyed the role that Mags played in this. Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for a chance to enjoy this book, and the whole series.

The Final Truth is the third book in the Rachel McKenzie Mystery series by Morag Pringle.

Rachel McKenzie is a dedicated prosecutor and drawn into a murder case that resonates deeply with her personal history. The discovery of a body in a local cemetery unearths not just a crime scene but also the unresolved mysteries surrounding her mother’s disappearance. Rachel's journey to uncover the truth about the victim is fraught with danger, and the stakes escalate quickly.

The author does an excellent job of balancing the professional and personal dilemmas Rachel faces. The character development is well-crafted, particularly with Rachel and her partnership with detective constable Selena MacDonald. Their dynamic adds both depth and a layer of camaraderie that feels authentic.
As they unravel the threads of the case, I felt I was taken on a suspenseful ride filled with unexpected twists that kept me guessing.

I would recommend this book and this series.

Rachel McKenzie is still trying to find out if her father murdered her mother or not. Her head and instinct day yes, her heart says no.
Her quest for the truth about her mothers murder leads her to delve deeper into organised crime and makes her the focus of some very ruthless people. When her climbing pall Eric goes missing it soon turns out that he too was looking into organised crime and involuntary prostitution. Rachel of-course sees it as her obligation to delve into his disappearance as well and she fears that he might not only be missing but murdered.

In the mean time a body turns up at a cemetery, no surprise there if it had not been for the fact that it was not buried but sitting against a gravestone with no obvious cause of death. How does this death tie in with the other developments in this book, or doesn't it?

Will Rachel and her sidekicks Selena and Mags get to the bottom of things and will this final truth mean the end of the series?

I found this episode very interesting and I loved that this book revisited Uist als well is set partly in Skye. Also the scenic landscapes of Scotland, especially around Glencoe, play a major role in this book. Loved it,
I don't know if this will be the last book in this series but fear it might be, well than at least I can say I gave a book in this series five stars. But I hope there will be more episodes to come.

I want to thank Netgally and Storm Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Again, I have enjoyed Rachel's reckless, chilling and thrilling investigation in this third novel in the series! A couple of sub-plots, no less intriguing, make this story even more compelling. My favourite character is Mags and can only hope to hear from her again soon as well!
I received a digital copy of this novel from NetGalley and I have voluntarily written an honest review.

An engrossing crime thriller! The characters are well fleshed out and engaging, especially Rachel. The locales are described in such a way they are easy to visualize. There are many twists and turns that keep you guessing but Rachel’s tenacity uncovers answers that lead to a satisfying conclusion but with a piqued interest of what is next in store for the intrepid Rachel McKenzie.

Rachel is a death investigating fiscal (what US calls a prosecution lawyer) but has to do her own verification of police evidence and conclusions rather than affording a special investigator for the task. She is driven to find answers in this maddening case that seems inexorably tied to the mess that resulted in her mother's abduction and death those years ago and elicits the help of a friend in Police Scotland. This book shared the addictive properties of the first two in series and kept me at its mercy until the end.
I requested and received a free temporary uncorrected proof copy from Storm Publishing via NetGalley. Thank you.

This was a strong third entry in the Rachel McKenzie Mystery series, it had that element that I enjoyed from the previous two books. The characters had that element that I was expecting and enjoyed how good everything went. Morag Pringle has a strong writing style and am excited for more.
