Sara Raasch is on my list of must-read authors, so of course I was stoked to get an ARC of Go Luck Yourself. For those of you who've read A Nightmare Before Kissmas, this story just as good if not better than the first, set against the gorgeous backdrop of Ireland with so. much. yearning. And if you haven't yet, what are you doing? This series is funny, sexy, with one if the silliest premises I've heard of complete with great writing and characters you'll wish you knew in real life. Good luck and godspeed!

Go Luck Yourself was enemies to lovers done right! When Kris agrees to be an ambassador for Christmas and visit St. Patrick's Day to investigate who is stealing Christmas joy, he is not expecting Prince Lochlann Patrick, Crown Prince of St. Patrick’s Day, to be his infuriating and handsome school rival. The chemistry between these two characters was off the charts. With an engaging plot, a lovable cast of characters, and tons of romantic tension, Go Luck Yourself is every bit as fun and packed with joy as The Nightmare Before Kissmas. My only criticism is that the main conflict between Loch and his uncle took a backseat to the romantic drama, and I personally felt the resolution was not satisfactory given the weight it was given in the narrative. 4 stars. I (and I'm sure many other readers) are desperately awaiting any news regarding Iris' book.
This book made me smile, made me chuckle, made me emotional too and I loved every word of it. Sara Raasch’s writing is absolutely delicious and just makes me want to read more of it! I completely fell in love with her Holidays universe and its cast of characters. I especially love Kris and Lochlann, but I’d be remiss not to also mention my love for Iris, the Easter princess (fingers crossed she also gets her own book). I think I actually enjoyed this second book in the series even more than the first (which was my favourite read of 2024 so that says a lot)!
Go Luck Yourself was an amazing follow up to The Nightmare Before Kissmas. It further expands on the world Sara Raasch created in the first Royals and Romance as well as the friendship and family relationships. It does a great job to follow up on the impact of what happened in the first book and wraps up any loose ends early on which is a bit of closure before everything begins to unravel in the story. Kris is emotional and complex and embodies all the difficulties that come from losing yourself in helping others. It is so easy to forget how to help yourself when you are trying to keep others afloat. Go Luck Yourself showcases the hardships of choosing yourself and your happiness over others and what they think. All the while the banter and flirting, which is so drastically different from The Nightmare Before Kissmas leads to even stronger sexual tension. Nothing is left to desire from this intoxicating Christmas/St. Patricks Day crossover. I’ve racked my brain to try to find anything to critique but I can’t find any. Amazing work Sara. I can’t wait to read what you have coming next with your D&D inspired book.
I ate this book up! Kissmas was fun, but Go Luck Yourself was soooo much better! It was funny, the banter was perfection, and the romance was fantastic! Kris was probably my favourite character of the bunch of them, that I couldn't wait to see what would happen in this book and I was not disappointed!
Get me an Irish man ASAP because Loch was iconic & such a great character to introduce into the cast of characters we've already met! I couldn't put it down it was just so funny! The characters only get better & I cannot wait for more Sara books!
Thank you NetGalley for an eARC!
I finished The Nightmare Before Kissmas and rolled right into Go Luck Yourself, and I'm so glad I did. The world building in this universe is so well thought out and imaginative! It's so easy to get lost in this world, and I could read 10 books about all of these different characters and holidays. These novels are also so much more than just holiday romcoms: they offer love, trauma, character insight, political intrigue, royalty... in the words of Sefan, it has everything.
OMG!! This was fantastic! No secondary book slump here! I loved Coal and Hex, but I'm obsessed with Loch and Kris! My god!! They way those two banter and bicker which adds to the building of their tension!! And when it all came to head... the SPICE!!! Loch giving Kris everything he needed !! Phew is it hott in here!? There was also some fun, quirky quips that I enjoy along with the many different confession of feelings! It was fun too! And dealt with Kris' trauma really well! I love this universe and hope there will be eventually more!!
I am so so thankful for the arc from Netgalley!! Truly!!
A delightful follow-up to The Nightmare before Kissmas! Kris and Loch are so lovable and their romance is such a swoony slow burn. I could not put this book down! I hope Raasch writes more of these because they are such a cozy escape.
I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel! I love the characters, and I love that we still get a healthy dose of characters from the first novel. I wish there was more explanation of the world at large- how do holiday families fit in with other families? How do “normal” people view the holidays and families? The book was enjoyable and cute and I can’t wait to tell patrons about it!
Only Sara Raasch can give me butterflies over a hand holding scene. The magic, the romance, and the heat are all the perfect combo. Another incredible story
The younger brother of the new Santa Claus has to go to the St. Patrick's Day court on a diplomatic mission in this fun follow up to The Nightmare Before Kissmas. When Kris accidentally causes a bit of a inter-holiday scandal at school, he knows he'll have to do damage control--even if it means spending time with the obnoxious Crown Prince of St. Patrick’s Day. Because Lochlann is nothing if not obnoxious and seems to revel in tormenting Kris. The fact that he may also be stealing magic from Christmas should be more important, especially since Christmas is trying to fix its reputation after the disastrous reign of Kris and Coal's father. But Loch has a way of getting under Kris's skin. And it's normal to be obsessed with the guy you hate, right? Right?
I'm obsessed with this holiday royal rom-com series. I'm hoping for a hundred more books featuring every holiday match up imaginable. Even though Go Luck Yourself didn't steal my heart quite as much as The Nightmare Before Kissmas, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm always a little wary and hesitant to read a sequel when I loved the first book as much as I loved The Nightmare before Kissmas for fear of being disappointed, but Go Luck Yourself held strong! I was quickly drawn in and I loved this book even more the first. I absolutely adore the characters and found them so relatable. I loved the way Loch and Kris clicked. Even the side characters were incredible and I really hope to see more of them all in a future book. I definitely haven't had enough of this series and I need more!
This was a fun follow-up to book one and was a lot of fun to read. It was a solid 4.5 star book for me. I would've liked to get Loch's POV as well as Kris' and I thought the solution to Loch's issue was solved without much fanfare given how big of an issue it was and how much conflict was caused because of it. That being said, this was an enjoyable book and I look forward to getting Iris' book.
Go Luck Yourself continues our romance and royals story with Kris, the younger brother of Coal. Kris is a conflicted, young man, who is one who you’d call a people pleaser. When he uses a bit of Christmas magic to play a trick on the Prince of St. Patrick’s Day, he is thrust into a challenge to find out who has been stealing some of Christmas’ joy.
So, I want to start off with the fact that this was a very fast read for me. I was intrigued by the snippet at the end of The Nightmare Before Kissmas and the tropes of this story were much more compelling to me. I like how it started off, it was a small rivalry but progressed well into the plot.
I liked Kris as our lead a lot, I could empathize with him and his way of processing emotions. Him not being able to differentiate his feelings is very real! He's a very kind and sweet lead, handsome too! I like how he came to a point of intervention and realization at the end with his feelings. Someone get her into therapy.
Loch was a good love interest, I liked how there was still a bit of tension between them but this was quickly more of a very soft, barely there enemies to lovers. Underneath it all, he was a kind character.
I liked the plot, it was fast and picked up in many areas. I felt like it didn’t have any slow parts which I enjoyed. For romances such as these, I don’t think there is much of a plot going on outside of the romance, but there were equal parts of both. It was more of a back of the mind sort of thing, but enjoyable nonetheless. However, the small twist did make my jaw drop because I wasn’t expecting it. I felt for Kris and Loch both, mainly Kris. He was a very relatable lead.
The smut… that was very, very good. It was dirtier than the last book which I LOVED. The one scene… you know the one, also made my jaw drop… it was impeccable, I don’t think I’ve ever read something that was explicit like that in a book because some people are cowards. It was AMAZING, I sort of need a short little smut story with them!
Thank you to Sara Raasch, Bramble, and NetGalley for an eArc in exchange for an honest review.
Go Luck Yourself, the follow up to The Nightmare Before Kissmas, is a continuation of the joy we got in the first book. If you liked Kissmas, you may find yourself liking this one even more as the Claus brothers are even more dramatic (I loved how Iris said she learned from their dramas for her own future romance), there’s more banter (snark as flirting), and more characters to love (a new trio of siblings in St. Patrick’s Day). The romance is between Coal’s brother Kris and the St. Patrick’s Day Prince Lochlann, who have an antagonistic introduction at college while fighting over a library study room. Their relationship progresses when Kris goes to St. Patrick’s Day for a week under the guise of apologizing to Loch, while also trying to solve the mystery of who is siphoning Christmas’ joy. I loved seeing the various events during the lead up to St. Patrick’s Day, and learning more about the holiday itself while watching Kris and Loch try desperately to not fall in love and completely fail.
The book isn’t all rainbows and pots of gold as Kris is going through a lot with his mental health, and I really appreciated that the relationship wasn’t used to try to “fix” his troubles, and instead Loch became such a support system for him. Loch has a number of things holding him back too, and he and Kris balance each other so well. Lastly, the politics in this world and within every holiday are so interesting, though as Kris notes it seems the children have to be the ones to fix the problems created by their parents (side note: the Claus parents are still awful in this one).
Overall, this book had me smiling and having the best time. There’s just something about Sara Raasch’s writing that I find so much fun to read and I am so hopeful for more in this Royals and Romance series (an Iris book, please!!).
Fav quote - "You're the whole dawn. And I can't believe I ever thought I'd seen the sun before you."
It’s very easy to say that I adore this series. Book two was just as good as book one, and that’s coming from someone who very clearly would be a part of Halloween. What a delight Loch and Kris were. If Iris and Finn are not book three, there will be a riot. More please.
This book was like popcorn, and I ate up every second of it! Raasch’s follow-up holiday romcom will sweep you off your feet and all the way to Ireland where you’re sure to be in stitches one minute and swooning the next. Woven together with a tender encouragement to choose joy for yourself, this book had me feeling luckier- and merrier- than ever.
I loved this book! A good continuation in this series. the banter, the figuring out oneself, the entire story was perfection. I cannot wait to read this again when it is officially out. I am excited to see where this series goes next (if it does continue). Thank you for letting me read this.
If you want to read some books that are both silly and serious while being very gay and very fun, Sara Raasch’s Royals and Romance novels are the ones for you. I voraciously read the first and was fortunate to have the ARC of the second to immediately devour. The first book is about the Princes of Halloween (Hex) and Christmas (Coal) and, as someone who got married on Halloween after getting engaged the previous Christmas Eve, I loved everything about that premise and it exceeded my expectations. I was really hoping to find out more about Kris, Coal’s brother and the other Prince of Christmas, and was so glad that this sequel was his story. Now, I was not deeply connected to St. Patrick’s Day before reading this one but that might change thanks to Loch! The politics involved in this series feel very connected to the political sphere of reality, too. I look forward to getting my hands on a physical copy of this book with those gorgeous sprayed edges as soon as it is out to match my copy of the first book. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
Charming, witty, and fun. A worthy sequel to The Nightmare Before Kissmas and I loved seeing Kris and Loch's relationship develop throughout the story.
