⚠️ physical abuse

✨ if you are looking for a light airy read which is feel good afterwards? This book is definitely worth the read.

✨ Rhea,Maggie and Anna are the main highlight of the story. Mainly focusing on Anna, who suffered a lot from her husband (Jerry) . It gotten to the point that she wasn’t to leave the house despite of everything.
✨ her friends were supportive, investigating a whopping secrets that will make there bond even more great.

✨ story line was great. I felt very light after reading this and it wasn’t a heavy slow paced feeling.

Three women, with little in common other than where their children attend school, find themselves with proof of cover-up scheme. But what is the administration of this elite private school hiding? And who is involved?

Caitlin Weaver had me hooked from the beginning of Things We Never Say. I needed to know what was happening, who was involved, and the lengths these privledged people would go to to do what is right, or what they thing is right for them.

An audiobook's narrator can make or break the experience for me and Jesse Vilinsky did a fantastic job bringing Weaver's story to life.

Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Three women, their families and secrets. While volunteering to prep for a fundraiser, they uncover fraud going on in their kids’ fancy school. Lots of juicy drama. This book sucks you in from the first page and doesn’t let up! Loved it :)

Three mothers, Anna, Maggie, and Rhea, bond over secrets and struggles in their seemingly perfect lives. As they uncover a scandal at their children's school, Anna is faced with a difficult decision that could expose her own dark secret. This gripping tale explores the price of perfection and the power of friendship.

This was a fast-paced and intriguing listen. The story delves into the lives of characters who are dealing with secrets that many of us may not even realize exist. It will make you question what you would do if you were in their shoes.

I found myself feeling helpless and sad for the characters who were unable to share their struggles with each other or their spouses. Some carried their secrets for years, unable to open up. Reading stories like this makes me more aware of the importance of checking in on my friends to ensure they are okay. It's easy to judge the characters and wonder why they don't speak up, but in reality, it's much more difficult than it seems. I've learned from people I've met in the past that asking for help is not always easy. Victims of their own secrets often wait too long or believe that no one can help them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this captivating story that made me think deeply. It's a reminder of how challenging it can be to maintain meaningful relationships in a world where people often keep their struggles to themselves. As a military wife, I can relate to the constant moving and difficulty in forming lasting friendships.

The narrator did a great job of keeping me interested in hearing more about the outcome of the story. I found it difficult to pause and walk away, so be sure to clear your schedule because this is definitely binge-worthy.

If you enjoy stories about complex relationships, friendships, and tough decisions, this book is must-read. I highly recommend giving it a chance.

Thank you, Dreamscape Media for audio ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A huge thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this extraordinary audiobook, Things We Never Say by Caitlin Weaver. Three women are brought together by the PTA and form an unlikely friendship despite their differences -and secrets. Rhea seems to have the perfect life, with an attentive husband and two teenage boys, but her life hasn't always been so charmed. Anna is married to the headmaster of the school, and she has worked hard to hide the abuse that she has endured for years. Maggie is a therapist whose own marriage is crumbling.

The characters crafted by Weaver are deeply relatable and the narrator does an outstanding job of bringing each of their voices to life.

I put this one on a couple day ago to listen to while doing my housework, and it sucked me in from the very beginning. This novel was a total rollercoaster ride. A great message on judging people's lives based on outward appearances, and a great message on morality. You never truly know what someone's life is like on the inside. And you don't know how willing you are to do the right thing when faced with a life-changing dilemma. This one left me thinking.

4.25/4.50 (Trigger warning, domestic abuse) This was my 2nd Caitlin Weaver book and I loved it. I plan to pick up more of her books going forward. They are great thrillers. In this one, I loved the 3 main characters and how they each had their own story. Although some of these twists were predicable, it still was a great book! Thanks to NetGalley for this ALC!

Things We Never Say
by Caitlin Weaver ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this book. It was so raw and emotional. It told the story of 3 women who have troubling pasts and secrets they want buried. More of a drama than a mystery but still very enjoyable.

I had the privilege of getting to review Caitlin Weaver's last book Such a Good Family. I was very excited to get to listen to her latest Things We Never Say. Needless to say, I loved it! I absolutely love how Caitlin writes her female characters, both the adults and the teens. I also love her knack for bringing her characters together.

Many domestic thrillers can get stale with recycled plot lines, but what I really enjoyed about this book was that it's not about the scandal or the crime, that's not the star of the show, it's the catalyst that sets the stage where we really get to focus on how the characters react to what has happened. You almost don't care about who did what per se, you care about what happens to the characters because of it and why they behave he way they do.

Looking forward to putting this on the list for my book club!

Things We Never Say was such a great domestic thriller, perfect for fans of Big Little Lies.

The story features around an academic scandal in an elite high school, playing on themes of privilege and integrity. The main female characters were layered, strong and dynamic, and the thriller aspects of the story played second to the nuances of their relationships. I loved the exploration of the different family relationships, and the way different characters viewed and made meaning of the scandal. The book deals with some confronting subjects in an honest way, so I would suggest checking trigger warnings before reading if this is a concern.

The narration was well done, and despite the many characters it was very easy to follow. The unique characters of the female leads were particularly well captured. I finished this listen in 24 hours - just couldn’t put it down!

Thank you Dreamscape Media for a copy of this audiobook. Opinions expressed are my own.

SUCH A GREAT READ! I was completely consumed from cover to cover. All three women had compelling stories and I loved the friendship they developed. The narrator did a great job of bringing their distinct personalities to life. The scandal they discovered was timely and added some suspense to the story. I was cheering these ladies on big time and highly recommend this one.

3.5 ⭐️

I listened to this book on audio and thought it was a really fast paced, easy to follow read full of drama, scandal, and complex family issues. I really enjoyed getting to know all the female characters in the book and I look forward to reading more from this author!

I listened to Things We Never Say on audio and, as all my preferred audiobooks do, it kept me listening and listening and I finished in a day and a morning. The kind of book that had me glaring at my husband who had the nerve to talk to me while I had earbuds in. How rude.

It's listed as "mystery/thriller and women's fiction" but it was less mystery to me than I'd have liked and I didn't get the thriller part at all. Contemporary fiction that, honestly, should have a trigger warning for violence. It was uncomfortable at times.

Caitlin Weaver wrote these characters well. So well, in fact, that one MCs husband made me want to hit his stupid face every time he opened his stupid mouth and I stupid hated him* (replace stupid with a much more rated R word and that sentence will express my vehement disgust of him). That is the mark of an effective author - to write the bad guy in such a way the reader wants to lead a group with pitchforks and fire.

As other reviewers have commented, in this era of books gaining fame via limited series starring big name actresses, it was hard to not cast the characters in my head as the next Big Little Lies on Netflix. The private school mom vibe was strong, with a dash of the recent college admission scandals led by Hollywood moms.

Overall a very very satisfying read and Weaver is now on my list to explore.

Perfect for fans of Bruce Holsinger's THE GIFTED SCHOOL, Curtis Sittenfield's PREP, and HBO's 'Big Little Lies.'

Premise - three women, all hiding different secrets behind the perfect veneers of their lives, are thrown together in the PTA of their kids’ prestigious private high school, and they become quick friends despite their apparent differences. But when they discover a scandal the school is hiding, they’re confronted with a terrible choice: expose the truth and blow up their own lives in the process, or remain quiet and become complicit?

I haven't read Caitlin Weaver before, but immediately after finishing this I looked her up and YAY she does have another book! I will be reading SUCH A GOOD FAMILY posthaste. That should really be all I need to say to endorse this - clearly Weaver has a talent for storytelling - but I'll add a bit more because it was an ARC: the pacing is perfect, the characters are 3D and continue to develop throughout the narrative, and each of the three primary perspectives explored was equally riveting. I got so invested in all three women, which is always a treat!

I do have to say, the logic in Anna’s storyline fell apart towards the end (she’s allegedly a lawyer, but she was making decisions like IQ: 70, I didn’t buy it at all). That’s why this isn’t a 4.5 or 5, but I still really enjoyed the ride!

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Jesse Vilinsky. She did a great job! I was honestly so wrapped up in the story I forgot to pay attention to what was her choices vs. what was purely the text, but that says a lot, too, namely that her choices blended seamlessly with the story and her read was addictive. Vilinsky and Weaver made a great team!

Thanks, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Story: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Narration: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Overall: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Things We Never Say is part of my all-time favorite thriller subgenre - rich helicopter parents keeping secrets and causing chaos. I absolutely adored this story of three mothers who are all hiding something, but join together when they discover a scandal happening at their children’s prestigious school. Jesse Vilinsky knocks this one out of the park (as always). I immediately rated this 5 stars and then looked up the author’s backlist. A 2024 favorite.

I listened to the audiobook and this narrator is one of my favorites, she did a fantastic job as always. I loved the characters and the way the author described all the little details to really make the reader feel like they’re a part of the book. Very fast paced and I will definitely be looking for more by the author. Highly recommend!

Update/
I was so pleased to also get the audio ALC of this book from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media so I could review the audio presentation of it.

I think listening to the audio made me like the book even more! I’m making my final rating a 4.5⭐️
Is that due to the audio narration? No. While the narrator did a fine job there wasn’t anything especially engaging about her but instead it was the reread to understand more of the book and the twists and turns.

The narrator did a decent job although I didn’t enjoy her male voices much. What I did appreciate was that her recording of the book on regular speed was great. It went along at a natural pace. That being said I did listen to it on 1.5x as that was my comfort level for this book.

The book comes out Nov 12 so get it on your TBR now!

I am thankful to have gotten the eARC for free from Netgalley and Storm Publishing so I can leave my voluntary review.

I’ll Admit that this took me a bit to get through but I’m not sure why. I think the beginning grabbed me but I have trouble with the flow and kept putting it down for other books until I got to the 50% mark.

However once I got to that mark I flew through the second half of the book as I couldn’t wait to find out what happened. There really wasn’t any surprise moments as everything was fairly predictable but it didn’t detract from the enjoyability of the book.

I liked reading the 3 different perspectives and it really showed how from the outside you can have a very different perspective if someone’s life than reality. I think one thing that made it good is that it didn’t seem like fiction. It was all very realistic situations that played out.

I will give a trigger warning for DV.

This title comes out on September 27,2024 and will be on kindle unlimited so get it on your TBR so you don’t forget!

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
