Katherine Center is the queen of witty banter. I really enjoyed this book, especially the drama packed ending. Some of the body negatively from the main character is a lot, but I’m glad I kept reading.

This was story had some cute moments but it took a lot of clumsy and awkward moments to get to the good stuff. The main characters have a nice romance but there are some main characters that spend a lot of time making terrible choices trying to ruin their chances at happiness and it is honestly very silly especially because they are grown adults. I wanted to enjoy it but we didn't get enough of our couple together.

This was my first Katherine Center book. And now I am searching through all her books to decide what I will read next.
I couldn't get this book out of my mind.
I think a lot of it centers around the way the author writes. It is fun but comforting I loved that it was a clean book so the emotions took center stage and not the sex. I loved that the story developed naturally and slowly. Hutch and Katie made such an interesting pair.
The supporting characters were so fun and the location was the perfect backdrop. And the Coast Guard diver information was so interesting.
And the dog, George Bailey, what a great character!
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

Katherine Center's books haven't disappointed at all since I found her through a book club recommendation. I hope this is made into a movie or show, because the construction is ready to jump right to the screen. I appreciated that it didn't feel like that was a contrivance, though - it's just already so structurally sound!

I have read Katherine Center books before and really enjoyed them. This book was fantastic and lived up to my expectations for her writing. I especially enjoyed that the main character, Katie, develops her own confidence through the course of the book. It was so much more than a love story. It became about self-love and positive self-image. Loved these themes throughout the book!

The Love Haters by Katherine Center is a fun, romantic story about Katie Vaughn, a video producer trying to keep her job at work. When her coworker, Cole, asks her to head to Florida to interview his brother, Tom “Hutch” Hutcheson, who works in the Coast Guard, Katie agrees—even though it means facing one of her biggest fears: swimming.
Katie can't swim, but she’s willing to push past her discomfort for the chance to prove herself and keep her career on track. Hutch, who is a bit gruff and standoffish, isn’t exactly the warmest person to be around, but sparks fly between them, leading to inevitable romance. Along the way, there’s family drama, body positivity struggles, and a lovable rescue dog that adds heart to the story.
Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read The Love Haters.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel. All opinions in this review are completely my own.
I loved Katie and Hutch. I want to live in one of the Starlite cottages. I appreciate how Katherine Center can write about serious topics in a way that is not only relatable, but funny, too.

This one is fun!!! Moments of humor, tension, protectiveness and a lot of rescuing. Also a giant great dane.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars from me!
Katie, a video producer, and Hutch, a coast guard rescue swimmer, meet on an assignment for a promo video that Katie is shooting of the US coast guard in Key West. The information that Katie was given on Hutch was that he has a persona of a “love hater”, but now after spending all her time with him, how can that be true? This project is the one thing keeping Katie from getting fired as her colleague Cole vouches for her to survive the company downsizing. Funny enough, Cole and Hutch are brothers, currently fighting and not on speaking terms. Now Katie finds herself trapped between the brothers feud and standing in the eye of the hurricane.
It fell a little flat for me because I couldn’t get behind how messy it all was, please just talk to each other!!! The miscommunication and the lying was driving me crazy.
Not only is this a love story for Katie and Hutch, but a love story between Katie and her body, learning to embrace and love what she spent so long hating. TW for body dysmorphia and ED.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

First I want to say thank you to NetGalley and the author for this arc.
This is the first book from this author I’ve read and it won’t be the last. I ate this good up so fast. I loved the characters and even the damn frog 🐸 lol.
Do I recommend this book, absolutely! Did it pull in my heart string, It sure did. Did it make me laugh, absolutely 💯 🐸.
Go read this book when it comes out!

The Love Haters gave me everything I look for in a romance book. It made me laugh out loud, ugly cry, as well as audibly gasp. Katherine Center never fails at bringing out the emotions! When I started the book, I wasn't sure how I felt about the characters. I was not a big fan as I didn't know if I was going to relate to them as Katie is a failing journalist that is about to get fired by her boss and Hutch is emergency rescue coast guard swimmer. I just wasn't sure how much I would relate to these two. In romance novels, I like to find characters relatable. I was so WRONG! As their characters started to develop in the story, I felt for Katie in her struggle to love her body, the guilt that Hutch felt at times towards his family and brother, and the sense of found family made out of tragedy. There was a lot going on in the book in a good way, the story lines didn't feel overwhelming. How the love between Hutch and Katie developed and the ending of the story, I thought was perfect! Thank you NetGalley and Katherine Center for the ARC!

Although sliw at times this was a sweet romance at its core and I enjoyed it. The cemetery beta the mcs were right on. I love rue and george bailey and theirs antics. Definitely not my last book by this author

This was a quirky and fun rom-com that’s going to be a great summer read! I enjoyed this book much better than Center’s last one “The Rom-Commers” that she published last summer. She made up for it with this one because I felt like she was back to herself and what I expect from a Katherine Center rom-com. I definitely felt like I was completely satisfied with how the book played out. From the beginning all the way through to the end. I wouldn’t have changed a thing and I was satisfied when it was finished. It did t leave me wanting more or having unexplained questions afterwards. Center is so good at capturing your attention and holding it all the way until the author’s note at the end. If you’re looking for a quirky, funny and a little adventurous rom-com to read this summer, this is definitely the book for you!
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. This review is honest, unbiased, and completely my own.

help! this was not my favorite Katherine Center. There were things I really liked: the coast guard, the florida setting, Rue and her friends, and the MMC. The two things I didn't love was the conflict was aggravating and seemed avoidable. And I liked the representation of the body dysmorphia plot but it felt dramatically done, when often I feel those issues are more subtle.

I am an avid fan of Katherine Center and true to form, The Love Haters did not disappoint.
In my opinion rom-coms tend to have a few dips in action and intensity , which i slog through to get back to the fun pace of the heart of the book. I never felt that while reading Love Haters. The book held my attention and intrest from start to finish. All of the characters held a solid role in the plot; even the character or two that add tension , making life extra difficult for the main characters the reader comes to love.
I will certainly recommend this title to anyone hoping to read a cute, funny romantic comedy.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced copy.

Loved this! I laughed so much and teared up a little. I loved the understated chemistry between Katie and Hutch and foundation of surprising friendship. The Gals are so lovable. And sweet George Bailey! Also, the message of self love and self worth was wonderful. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC

This was fun. I think it was lacking a bit for me in terms of character development. I did like the tropical setting and the idea of the book was fun. Overall, this didn’t hit like her other books unfortunately.

I was so excited to read The Love Haters because I have loved all of Katherine Center’s other books but this one just fell short for me. There was a shocking amount of woe is me kind of talk from the main character, Katie, whose name I kept forgetting because it was said so infrequently. The story between she and Hutch was sweet but so surface level I feel like I couldn’t tell you anything about either of them by the end of the book. The minimal detail combined with the miscommunication at the end just really was not my cup of tea and made it hard for me to figure out what Katie and Hutch had in common other than finding the other attractive. Unfortunately this book just wasn’t for me.

This was a great rom-com by Katherine Center. I thought the story between Katie and Hutch was good, but could have developed even more. I also loved the personal growth arc, even intermixed with the romance and humor, it was truly relatable. Cole was a hard character and the story needed a twist, of course, but it was a bit hard to believe. Overall, enjoyed the book!

Banter! Ass splinters! Stowaway toads! This book has it all!
Um, what do I even say? Perfection. The characters are charming (well, most of them), the plot is delightful, and even when, for a short time, I wasn’t sure where things were going, I enjoyed every second of getting there. It was tender, laugh out loud funny, and deeply resonant.
Besides featuring the best MMC of all her books so far, Katherine also wrote a friendship that could only have been written by someone who has experienced deep best adult friendship.
Truly, this book is a gem and I miss it already. Another delightful read from one of my most beloved authors.

Loved the way this book played on the enemies to lovers troupe in a thoughtful way. The elements about self love and body acceptance felt the strongest to me.
The setting of Key West felt almost like another character. I enjoyed reading the author’s vivid descriptions of the place. I especially loved Rue’s character. She is the perfect encapsulation of the Key West lifestyle and now I want to read a full book about her life journey.
Overall, I enjoyed the book but thought it felt a bit disjointed. I also didn’t think the twist was believable, which made me lose trust in the characters.
Katie and Hutch’s relationship never fully developed. I liked the parts of the book where they started being vulnerable about the hard things they had been through. However, once the twist came their relationship stopped developing.
Hutch seemed to get lost in the second half of the book. I think it would have been better if the author focused primarily on Katie’s relationship with herself vs jumping back and forth. At the end of the book, I still felt like the characters barely knew one another and their relationship felt more surface level than I was expecting.
Thanks NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!
