A gentle coming-of-age novel about a young Mormon on his mission in France as he examines his beliefs, discovers the world outside his religion and contemplates his future.
it's a beautifully reflective novel holding up strongly held beliefs to a mirror in a sensitive way. the characters are beautifully drawn and the writing is vibrant and sumptuous. very well done.
Edgar is a Mormon missionary and is trying to 'find' himself and discover whether the religion is for him
I loved this book.. I have experience of the Mormon religion and I have disocover that the cult like behavior are good for some and not for others.
As Edgar travels through his journey he goes a lot of reflection and I think he grows a lot as a person within this story, and so ..did I. Edgar gave me a lot to think about..
It is wonderfully descriptive and beautifully told. i also think if readers are 'put off' by the subject matter they would miss out not reading this book.. It really is an eyeopener..
