I love Pearson's writing and this sneak peak at Bristol Keats was no exception. It was startling to see her write some in a modern day world but she does a great job world building and getting you invested in the story. Huge fan <3

I was fortunate to receive an early look at the first 10,000 words of The Courting of Bristol Keats, and I was immediately hooked. Mary Pearson has a gift for world-building, and the first half of the book is a beautifully detailed introduction to a complex world brimming with potential. The depth of the setting felt immersive, with every corner of the story feeling thoughtfully constructed, making the anticipation of what was to come even greater.

One of the standout aspects of Pearson’s writing is her ability to craft rich, supportive friendships between women. While the world-building in the first half was essential, I did find myself wishing for even more exploration of the relationships between the female characters. That said, the bond between Bristol and her sisters is incredibly touching, and their dynamic added a layer of warmth and depth to the story.

Once the story hits its stride, however, it’s a whirlwind. The pace picks up, and it quickly becomes a book that is nearly impossible to put down. The stakes grow higher, the tension builds, and I found myself completely engrossed in Bristol’s journey. Pearson’s ability to balance intricate world-building with compelling character development truly shines in this part of the story, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

In sum, The Courting of Bristol Keats has everything I love in a novel: rich world-building, compelling characters, and a plot that is just as engaging as it is unpredictable. I’m excited to read more, and I’m confident that this book will be a favorite for many readers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5 stars)
🌶️🌶️ (2 chili peppers – moderate spice)

This romantasy pulled me in from the start with its blend of family secrets, fae bargains, and forbidden romance. Bristol Keats is a strong, determined heroine whose journey from small-town struggles to the magical realm of Elphame is filled with danger, intrigue, and twists that kept me hooked.

The slow-burn romance between Bristol and Tyghan was a highlight, with their fiery chemistry evolving into something deeper. The world-building was immersive, with its gods, fae, and warring kingdoms, creating a lush backdrop for the story. The pacing built steadily, though the ending felt a bit abrupt—it left me desperate for the next installment.

Some tropes include:
🧚‍♀️ Fae bargains
❤️‍🔥 Enemies to lovers
🔥 Forbidden romance
👑 Warring kingdoms
🌌 Magical realms
🗡️ Training for battle
👩‍👧‍👧 Strong sibling bond
🌠 Hidden heritage
🤔 Morally gray characters
🎭 Secrets and betrayal

If you love stories with fae bargains, forbidden love, and morally gray characters, this one is a perfect pick. Fans of The Cruel Prince or These Hollow Vows will feel right at home!

It feels a little odd to review a "sneak peek" but this book has a grabby/strong start!! I was so excited to get a peek into this new world. The portal style fantasy seems quite intriguing and should hopefully be a fun time. I have used this sneak peek read as a segway into the new release and it's had me captured the entire time so far. This Sneak Peek is such a good tease! I've read the first 8 chapters of The Courting of Bristol Keats. There is plenty of mystery surrounding Bri's parents and a sweet relationship amongst her and her sisters. Eris and Tyghan along with their companions reveal some dangerous and concerning developments that will link them to Bri, but there's a deeper connection that may connect to her family or other characters yet to be introduced. A lot to still be revealed and a great introduction to this story.
