Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sarah M. Eden for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for The Tides of Time coming out March 4, 2025. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I really love this author! I’ve read and own several of her books. Historical fiction is my jam. I really love time travel. I thought it was really interesting that Lili was in the past and traveled to the future, which was still in the past. I’ve read a ton of time travel. I think Lili and Armitage were really interesting characters with complexity. I really enjoyed the plot. I would definitely read more books if this is a series!
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction!

“Who I am is all the power I had left to claim. I decided that being shown hatred was not going to make me hateful, and being wronged wasn’t going to turn me into someone who wronged others.”
* We are jumping straight into the action
* Oh nooo!
* This poor girl
* Oh man, this would be so confusing
* I knew it!
* Ahh! I knew it again!
* Oh, Armitage, you sweetie.
* My heart 🫶
* No way! Oh my goodness
* Okay, did not see that coming
* 😭
* I am going to cry real tears
* Yes! Go, Armitage!
I’m not gonna lie, it kind of took me a while to get into this story, but once I was it completely swept me away!
Lili is an incredible character with an incredible story. I’ve always been intrigued by the French Revolution and seeing it from this perspective was so intense and eye opening.
And Armitage was such a sweetheart. I love how supportive he was. All of his family and the entire island of Lofstone, really. I loved them all.
The time travel was very interesting and unique and I enjoyed that aspect of the story as well.
But really, rawness is the history and setting are what really made this book shine for me!
“Being vulnerable can be frightening,” Lili said. “But it is often the only way to slip free of what is hurting us.”
“If ever she wondered if she mattered, she would remember the look on his face in that moment. He looked at her as though she were his light in the storm.”
“I will go wherever and whenever you go, ma bien-aimée.”
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the ebook. All opinions are my own.

Sarah Eden is an absolute master at historic fiction and she just blew me away with this time slip romance. Eden gives just the right amount of historically accurate detail to send a reader tumbling into another world. Each time period is portrayed with vivid imagery, culture, language, etc.
Lili and Armitage are both such deep and courageous characters. I love them both and how their relationship grows. This story was one of those that I wanted so badly to finish, but also wished that it would never end. I finished reading it a week ago and I still keep thinking about it. Five stars! And I am so excited to read the next book in the series!
I read an advanced reader copy from NetGalley; all opinions are my own.

Honfleur, France 1793
While I love reading books about time travel, this was a new endeavor by Sarah M. Eden, and I will freely admit I wasn’t sure what I would find or if I would like this new direction. But I am happy to say I really liked it! I wasn't crazy about Geraud, but once you read it, it's understandable. I loved the characters of Lili, Armitage, and Grandfather. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
My gratitude to Netgalley and Shadow Mountain. All opinions expressed are honest and mine.

This was such a fun story! Lili lives in 1793 France but gets transferred to 1873 England after falling into the sea. There she meets Armitage who is a lighthouse keeper. I loved watching Lili not know what things are and having to learn them. One thing like seeing a train, terrified her and I can understand that. I liked that even though Armitage didn’t know why Lili acted peculiar he still wanted to help her. I also liked that his Grandfather did know and was there for her. It’s hard to write a review on this story without spoilers so I will just say I really enjoyed this story and found the historical events really interesting. Overall a great book and I definitely recommend!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

The Tides of Time is the first book in Sarah M. Eden’s The Tides of Time series. It’s a romance that spans two centuries during which Eden asks readers to imagine “what if” people could travel through time.
Pacing is key to Tides of Time, as is Eden’s decisions as to when certain time traveling events take place. There’s not a lot of bouncing around, which makes for cleaner storyline.
Lili and Armitage are likeable characters, though it does take a while to get used to Lili’s accent and Armitage’s Southern English dialect. Eden does provide context, which helps a lot.
The Tides of Time is a sweet romance that touches on 1790s French history, localized customs, and the tasks and duties of lighthouse keepers. It’s a quick, enjoyable read. I look forward to the second book in the series.
*Though intended for adults, it will appeal to young and new adults alike.

Sweeping romance, time travel, and historical intrigue come together beautifully in this enthralling novel. Lili Minet, a fugitive from the horrors of the French Revolution, believes she has narrowly escaped the wrath of Robespierre—only to be cast adrift into something even more bewildering. A raging storm sends her not just into the sea, but eighty years into the future, leaving her alone and lost in 1873 England.
Enter Armitage Pierce, a steadfast lighthouse keeper who pulls Lili from the water, only to be met with her wary silence and guarded demeanor. Despite her reluctance to trust him, Armitage is drawn to the mystery surrounding this woman who seems out of place in both speech and manner. His quiet strength, along with the gentle wisdom of his grandfather, helps Lili begin to heal. As the two grow closer, their friendship deepens into a love that seems both impossible and undeniable.

4.5 stars
Wow! This was a stunning book. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book but I ended up really enjoying it. The Tides of Time is the first book in Sarah M Eden’s Storm of Tide Romance series.
The characters and the story held me captive. I was drawn in by Lili and Armitage. The plot was so engaging and I didn’t want to put the book down. Lili was from the French Revolution and Armitage was 80 years in the future. They shouldn’t have met and yet they were drawn together.
I loved both Lili and Armitage, they were both wary of each other but they grew to understand each other. The romance was a sweet addition to the series as Lili and Armitage try to figure out what life was going to look like since Lili was out of place with danger lurking.
The concept of the story was so intriguing and I am excited to read the books to come. I don’t want to give anything away but it is definitely a book that you should pick up. It is relatively easy to read but I do feel like I was confused at times. However it was still enjoyable and didn’t slow me down too much.
The Tides of Time is a clean time travel romance that will leave you wanting more. I loved getting to know the characters. There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t know what was going to happen. Overall, I would totally recommend it!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from my first time slip romance….but let’s just say I was not disappointed! Sarah Eden weaves the timelines so well throughout this novel. The characters were easy to fall in love with and the beautiful love that Armitage and Lili have makes the whole book. The twists and turns were unexpected, but had me anxious to keep reading even while being interrupted with kids. Highly recommend this book!

Sarah Eden never disappoints! The history, the romance, the edge of your seat action, all combined with a wonderful cast of characters made this book one I won't soon forget.
I love the way the story unfolds and the way the different timelines are interwoven. The romance is achingly beautiful. The found family aspect is so tenderly written. The dedication to historical accuracy is a testament to the author's research.
The Tides of Time is such a unique and engaging book! I was absolutely thrilled to discover that it is just the first in a series. I am already obsessed!
*Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Neither time traveling nor the French Revolution are things I ever seek out in a book; they're not just big draws for me (and in some cases, they can be big turnoffs). However, Sarah Eden's researching and writing are always superb, so I figured I'd at least like this book--but I more than liked it. I really enjoyed seeing Lilli and Armitage fall for one another. I also loved Armitage's grandpa and the people in his village. There were a couple of twists that I did NOT see coming at all. I do feel like it wrapped up a bit quickly--I have to be careful here so I don't give anything away, but the last 20% of the book could have had a lot more added to do it without bogging it down. I wanted more details there of what happened and how! There is at least one more book to follow this one, so I'm sure some of my questions will be answered there, but I still would have liked a bit more to explain how certain things were brought about in this book. My one other quibble with this book is the amount of French it; of course it SHOULD have French in it, given that Lilli is French and parts of it take place in France, and there were times when I could get the gist of what was being said just from context...but for obsessive readers like me, who have to go translate every French passage because we want more than just the gist of what is being said, it kinda disrupted the flow sometimes. Not a huge problem, but just something perhaps to be aware of if you're a similar sort of reader.
All in all, 4.5 stars and I'm very much looking forward to the next book!
I read a DRC provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This was a good read! The summary of the book immediately captured my attention and I was counting down days till I could read this story. I have read most of Sarah's stories and look forward to anything she does. With that being said, this story didn't really capture me like I thought it would. Maybe I had really high expectations? It was average. I never really felt connected to the characters, and I think that's where my struggle came from. The time travel plot also fell flat for me. I will continue to read Sarah's books. She has a fan in me for life! This book just wasn't for me.

What a beautiful and sweet story! Lili Minet is living in 1793 France where the horrors of French Revolution are at an all time high. Her brother, Geraud, is a member of the Tribunal and is hunting down Lili as a traitor of France because of her helping a countless number of refugees escape execution. As she is escaping on a ship set for England she is washed overboard in a terrible storm, but when she surfaces her brother and the ship are gone. Instead, a mysterious stranger who speaks a strange English rescues her and takes her to his lighthouse. As she recovers she learns that he is Armitage Pierce, a keeper of the lighthouse on Loftstone Island along with his grandfather. Their lighthouse is full of mysterious items she has never seen before, their clothing is strange and the books on their shelves have an impossible year on them. Lili has somehow travelled through time to 1873 England. Now, she must learn how to navigate this new time despite Armitage being wary and closed-off with her, before her own time catches up with her.
This was one of the sweetest stories I've read in a long time! Sarah Eden does a great job depicting different types of love and interweaving those relationships to create one cohesive story. Sarah also did an excellent job describing and creating such a contrasting atmosphere between the tension and fast paced French Revolution and the more calm and safe 1873 England. Lili's confusion with all of the "modern" advancements and culture shock was entertaining to read and helped set the tone of Lili truly being lost in time. Watching Lili and Armitage's relationship develop was also so heartwarming and I loved the tenderness of the feelings they had towards each other.
I really enjoyed Lili as a character. She is strong, selfless, and fiercely committed to her mission towards her people, and with Armitage and the people of Loftstone Island she is shown to also be compassionate, kind, and clever. Her confusion and helplessness at not knowing the intricacies of the time she is in makes her vulnerable but she never lets that put a damper on her spirit. Armitage is also the biggest sweetheart, I loved him and quirks and he makes the perfect partner for Lili.
The only thing I didn't enjoy was some of the pacing. I felt like for all of the events that occurred in the last portion of the book, the middle portion was too long of a build up for it. The ending felt very abrupt and I wish the author has expanded more on all of the things that happened at the end, and that there was a little more closure, though the unfinished storylines seem to be leading to a sequel. Despite this though, it was still a very enjoyable read.
I recommend this book for readers who enjoy time-traveling tales with historical romance, action, lovable characters, and magical elements.

Time flies when reading this time traveling romance! I couldn't get enough! So excited for book 2!
I received an ARC through Netgalley and all opinions are my own.

If I could give this book 10 stars, I absolutely would!! Oh my gosh, I was completely captivated by this story. From the very beginning, I could not put this book down. Lili’s life in Paris is absolutely scary, and crazy, and then it just gets crazier from there. Armitage enters the story, and it just gets oh so good. They are destined for each other and I am obsessed with them and their love story. Their adventures are insane and difficult, and will not allow you to ever put the book down.
So clear your schedule, because this book is about to take over. My only wish is that we had a little more of them in the end, I wasn’t quite ready to end their story. I wish I knew just a little bit more about their HEA. I neeeeed more Sarah 😉
Enjoy my friends!!
Thanks to the author for an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Sarah M. Eden takes a dive into the crowded Time Travel pool and emerges with the unique "The Tides of Time". While assisting others in escaping from the horrors of the French Revolution, Lili Minet is propelled forward in time to England in 1873. Rescued from drowning by lighthouse keeper Armitage Pierce, Lili is a fish out of water, trying to make sense of her surroundings.
Although the setting of Loftstone Island is fictional, the historical details are not. Eden vividly describes the French Revolution and its gruesome violence, frequently culminating in a visit to "Madame Guillotine". The speech patterns of the fictional island's residents is quite unusual; odd colloquialisms aside, pronoun usage is a bit difficult to wrap one's head around. Nevertheless, the author always pays attention to historical detail, so I'll assume she's not taking poetic license here.
Initially distrustful of the other, Lili and Armitage fall in love, and it's sweet and believable. In a refreshing change of pace, they are both working class, as are the secondary players. Characters are well-drawn, and Eden's descriptive prose brings scenes to life. There are a couple of twists, and one near the end makes the novel a 5-star read for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for an ARC of this entertaining tale.

Oh my! I started this book and almost didn’t look up until I finished it. The Tides of Time is at minimum a dual time line book. Lili Minet starts in France in 1793. If you don’t know your history, that was the dark time of the revolution. It was a dangerous and deadly time.
Lili attempt an escape to England. She does reach England, but not in her own time.
Lili is an amazing character, such responses to the situations she finds herself in.
Armitage Pierce is a light keeper.
It was an amazing journey to follow these two souls, to go through revelation after revelation of how they intersect.
It is going to be amazing to follow this series as it goes back and forth through time. Yes, I know I used amazing at least three times. Pick up this book and see if it doesn’t create a reaction in you.
Thanks to Netgalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

This is a lovely time-travel historical book. I really enjoyed visiting the two time periods and watching Armitage and Lili's love grow. This book has just the right amount of history, love, mystery and adventure to keep you interested to the end.
There are no swears or alcohol and level 1 sweet, non-descriptive kisses only.

Sarah M Eden has been dishing out swoony historical after swoony historical. And now she has turned the “Tides” to try her hand at speculative fiction. I am pleased to announce that she has given the reader a fantastic story that had me glued to the pages!
This time travel historical was absolutely spellbinding. I am always in awe of an author’s ability to weave such an intricately complex storyline. The Tides of Time was fantastic! I was immediately drawn to the characters and their unique situations, the slow burn was sweet, and the fantasy aspect kept me on my toes.
I am excited to see the next book in the series.
Thank you Shadow Mountain and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

I picked up this book because I like the author. I was hesitant because I don't often enjoy time travel stories. My mind can't handle that I don't understand how time travel would work. If I can't explain it, I don't like it. There has to be some logical reason. But like I said, I like Ms. Eden's books so I gave it a shot. I was sucked into the story from page 1. Seriously, I was sold on loving the book before I got to the bottom of the first page. I was so surprised. I still can't explain the logic of time travel but I loved the story.
The French Revolution is a horrible part of history and my heart pounded during the parts of the story that took place in France. Ugh, too awful to contemplate.
I grieved with the characters as they grieved their losses. I smiled as the romance progressed. I loved becoming aware of others who had experienced the tides of time. My heart ached as families were divided for various reasons. And my heart smiled as others were reunited.
My only complaint is that the book ended. I wanted to know what came next. What happens to the Grandfather? I hope that we see more of these characters in upcoming books but I don't know if all the books in this series are connected by characters or just the concept. Suddenly, I'm very much wanting to see the next time travel book in this series.
