Thank you @NetGalley and @HarperCollinsChildren'sBooks for the ARC. I have been a fan of Kayla Miller since her first book. The characters are so relatable and funny. My students devour these books. Trent and Sawyer decide to win a visit with their skateboarding hero by entering a prank war contest. Yet, not all their friends are on bored to be part of their pranks. Trent and Sawyer prank Nat and she doubles down on their pranks and plans to win the contest herself. A must read.

I cannot get enough of this world! I have read every Click and Besties title at this point. Each one is a unique story that is realistic and poignant for the students who read them. The characters are a full cast I love to read about and learn about. Students who read will feel how genuinely the books honor their lives and experiences, as it does so realistically in an approachable way and in a format that speaks to kids. Nothing is preachy, but by reading these words and images, our readers can and will grow alongside the characters. Each one is full of fun, humor, friendships and school issues to navigate. The Prank War has all kinds of things that kids love: pranks, rivalries, contests, and social media/video influencers. The prank competition and the way it not only affects those participating, but also their friends, family, classmates and schools form an incredibly interesting plot line. Students will love this one just as they have loved the ones before.

Kayla Miller returns to the World of Click with Besties: Prank War, a new graphic novel featuring Trent and Sawyer. The pair kick off a class-wide prank war, hoping to win a contest judged by their pro skateboarder idol. However, their escalating pranks put their other friendships to the test. While the premise held promise, this installment fell flat for me. Many of the pranks themselves lacked humor, and the consequences for the characters' actions felt disproportionate and unfair.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I received an electronic ARC from HarperCollins Children's Books through NetGalley.
I have enjoyed this series but I didn't care for some parts of the third book. I do get the author's point on pranks that go too far but am disappointed that only two of the characters (the boys)were punished while the third (the girl) was not. Yes, they started the prank war, and, yes, they made foolish and poor decisions but the fact that everyone including family members helped Nat prank the two without consequences does not send the right message. That brought my review down to three stars.
It is a lighter book and I understand that also. Middle grade readers will appreciate the humor and the pranks. They will also understand the message of going too far when someone gets hurt.

Kayla Miller has been popular at my library for quite a while so I was eager to read her next entry in the Besties series which focuses on two new "besties" Trent and Sawyer. Best friends since forever, what is very appealing about these two characters is how adventerous they are. Many characters in middle grade graphic novels have been more subdued but Trent and Sawyer leap off the page through their actions and words. Bold colors with clearly defined lines makes it appealing for the middle grader reader. Give this to children ages 8 and up who love friendship stories and graphic novels.

Super fun, quick easy read. I love this crew of characters and the hijinxes they get up to. Giving Trent and Sawyer some plot in this universe gave them more character depth than two lovable goofballs. I do have one question though, where did Nat get all that glitter?

Prank War is the latest installment of the Besties series, a spin-off of Kayla Miller's super-popular Click. My students cannot get enough of these books, and Prank War is a great opportunity to learn more about the minor characters in Olive's world. In the main series, Olive's superpower is her ability to float between different friend groups at her school, and the Besties series focuses in on these groups. This time, we follow Trent and Sawyer as they embark on an epic prank war (in hopes of impressing their favorite influencer) that quickly spirals out of control.

The pranks in the story are funny, semi-realistic, and not so horrible that you'd worry about students getting the wrong ideas from reading the books. Lessons are learned without the story becoming too didactic--actions have consequences, but we don't leave with the characters' personalities changing permanently and scared off of pranking forever.

This will be a welcome addition to the Kayla Miller collection in my school library.

This is my first dive into the Besties universe and I can't wait for more. All of the characters were fun and interesting. I loved the conclusion of the Prank War.

This was really cute. My kids both enjoy graphic novels, so I made sure to ask them what they thought of it at a glance. My son flipped through a few pages and immediately asked to read it. 🤣

The animation style is fun and the story is well written. I will definitely look at buying a copy for my son and would recommend it for any graphic novel fans.

Another fun addition to the Kayla Miller series. This is, of course, the spin off series, but there are overlaps as characters span both collections.

I think that the story does a good job of covering a lot of challenges for middle schoolers, including friendship. challenging authority, school, bullies, and social media. The prank war really starts because Sawyer and Trent want to win a prize that is being offered by a streamer. And it definitely shows how these social media stars may not really think through their contests to the consequences, because Sawyer and Trent definitely suffer for their "art." The fact that they enter into the war with Nat, who is probably the character I have liked the least throughout this story was both good and bad. For me, it was good because she was able to really deliver on return pranks. But it was bad because, for the most part, she escaped from any punishment except maybe at the very end. Trent and Sawyer got pulled into the war because Nat just wouldn't let things lie, and yet they were the ones doing all the clean up and getting teachers angry. It drives me nuts to see someone who is a bully or comes across as such being able to fly under the radar because they act innocent with adults. It's also very much something I have told my children to watch out for in life: when you know something is going to happen that will be bad, get away. Tell an adult, but make sure you are away from the situation as much as you can be. That sort of thing.

In the end, I feel like Trent learned most from the whole situation. Or maybe he learned faster. Sawyer, as a result, was the one of the duo who drove me the most nuts. He treated his friends poorly; his jokes pushed the limit; and he really didn't listen to anyone until he got in deep trouble.

The characters are, as always, well drawn and well presented. And you get enough of Trent and Sawyer to feel for them, to be annoyed with them, and to distinguish between them. And that is hard to do in a graphic novel.

I still prefer the main Click series, but Besties is definitely fun. And you don't have to have read these in any particular order which is nice. I find Click is more chronological. The first Besties is probably still my favourite.

This book gave a good lesson not to mess around with your friends. I was expecting the girl besties at first so I was surprised to venture in this journey with the boys. I love how the world comes into one and the click is also in the book! I would definitely recommend this to children

Besties: Prank War is another adorable graphic novel in the Click universe by Kayla Miller. Trent and Sawyer are 2 best friends determined to win a social media contest by performing an epic prank. I really liked this one. It has the awesome illustrations & friendships in all of the graphic novels in this universe. I really liked the way pranks were shown & that the victims feelings were shown afterwards. I think it made a great point that funny pranks are only funny if everyone can laugh.

Thanks to NetGalley, Kayla Miller, and Harper Collins for the chance to read and review. My opinions are my own.

When I saw that this book was about pranks, I wondered if I wanted to read it at all, though I love the Besties series. And because I loved everything that has come out of that series, I plunged in, despite thinking the very idea of pranking people abhorrent to the highest degree.

The good thing about this story is that despite the two boys loving to prank, the narrative showed the bad that can come with it, and how it hurts others, which was good. And while I know that there is no way to stop pranking int he world of people who want to get seen on social media, at least this story was very clear that the people who were pranking and being pranked did not like it.

And once I realized where this was going, I sat back and enjoyed what happened to the prankers. It also helped when the teachers and parents started to notice too.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review. This book is coming out on the 3rd of March.
