In this episode Jack and Sarah find themselves investigating a fire at the town manor. The fire killed the manor's elderly owner, who mysteriously went deeper into the fire, not out of the house, when flames took over. The deceased, Victory Hamblyn, has a trio of horrible children, all of whom are likely suspects. Like the first book in this series, this is a tight, well-written cozy mystery that doesn't stray into extensive foolishness. That seems to be a problem with so many lighter mysteries these days. Thankfully the authors avoid it here. Here you get an interesting village and an interesting mystery.
