The Chelsea Market in New York has never quite been the same since Fat Witch brownies started being sold, drawing huge crowds of chocolate-sated fans. If a brownie can be iconic, this one certainly is. Rich, moist, and delicious, it didn’t take long before people became completely obsessed with them. In this book author Patricia Helding offers up her personal collection of recipes for brownies and their ilk — blondies, bar cookies, and such, along with her thoughts, tips for packaging and shipping, as well as providing help should you try to embark on selling some of your own.

Brownies, I have found, are relatively easy to make, yet offer huge rewards. Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a brownie? If you can’t find at least a half dozen recipes to love in this book, I’d be very much surprised. Another wonderful thing about this book is that it’s a perfect way to introduce young people to baking. I shared it with a friend who enjoyed it with her daughter, who has now become quite the little baker in her own right. I recommend this book for old and young, bakers, chocolate lovers, pretty much everyone.

The title of this grabbed me! Really great compilation of sweet treat recipes, well presented with easy to follow, clear instructions. Delicious looking photographs. With this being an American publication all the weights etc are in cups but there’s an easy to follow conversion chart at the back of the book so saves you “Googling” with sticky fingers! I especially liked that fact that the treats produced were easy to cut and transport – how many times have we made treats for bake sales only to end up with a sticky mess trying to get them to school. I’d recommend this title to any keen bakers who are keen to expand on their bake sale repertoire. I was given a free copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
