I don't often do this, but I just couldn't finish this after getting about 2/3 of the way. I was reading it on my Kindle and the typeface was weird. Also the synopsis of what I thought I was getting didn't match what I read. The stories were a mix of like fables and myths. Some of the girls were unkind. I didn't see the push for flight or physics. The girls also weren't very heroic to me. LOL.
I Just couldn't read anymore due to the way it was on my Kindle and just the stories were annoying over uplifting and encouraging. i hope they at least fix how it will be on the Kindle.
*I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are 100% my own.
I’m sorry. I feel badly about writing this review but I just couldn’t finish it. I almost couldn’t start it. <br />Maybe because I was reading an ARC generously sent by the publisher and NetGalley and the text was all wonky and different sizes and strangely set, but the truth is that I felt that way about the stories too. There didn’t seem to be any continuity or transition from story to story and I found the stories odd as well as I honestly think the whole book was too chaotic.
Just not for me I guess. After thinking about it, my problem with the typeface and text setting might be from reading it on my Kindle. It might have worked better on the NetGalley app. Somebody at the publisher or NetGalley should tell readers that when they send a book. It has happened before and lessened my enjoyment of the book.
I was looking forward to the history of flight via nine stories for young adults. I found a lot of interesting history from many parts of the world. I found science relating to flight and other things. Our Aviation GIrls were woven into the stories a bit - I just felt the stories took too long to get to the point.
I kept wondering how these might be used in a classroom setting or if they would better be suited for a cozy read at home.
I was given a complimentary copy from the publisher via Goodreads. The opinions in the review are my own.
This was such a great historical fiction novel and enjoyed the overall concept of this. The characters felt like they were supposed to be in this story and how everything worked together overall. Tom Durwood has a strong writing style and was glad I got to read this.
