I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged and it only took a few days to read. I think this is going to be a good book club option for several clubs. I plan recommending to my book friends and I look forward to reading more by this author.
This book started with a bang and I was well impressed. I thought, here we go, an edge of my seat few nights reading - excellent!
Unfortunately after the opening scene, we then go back 1 week to the lead up to the events. This too was a great setting as it give the read chance to play detective.
After a while I was slowly losing interest as the plot got too dreary and unrelatable, I was loosing interest on the who, what and whys.
I really related to the character of Willow as many mums of teenage girls with feel her frustration.
Sadly, the ending is what ruined it for me, after re-reading many a chapter I was still lost as to who the culprit of the murder that had happened years ago?!? What did I miss?.. Would love someone to explain it to me as I was just lost???
A solid 3 stars due to many positive but also the speed and lask of resolve.
Thank you for the advanced copy #NetGalley
Unfortunately this book was a very slow read for me, and I found it quite hard to pick up, because there was so suspense or twists.
Thankyou NetGalley and bookoutoure for the opportunity to read this.
This book was extremely well written and it was done so cleverly by the author. It felt like reading multiple stories in one and no other book has been able to do that before!
Everyone keeps secrets. Heidi & Freddie have just moved into the neighbourhood and they both are adjusting to it all. Heidi isn’t happy as Freddie has put a lock on the spare room and she isn’t allowed in there. She hasn’t found a job yet so she has slot of spare time. She hasn’t found a made friends with Willow & for teenage daughter and they have both welcomed her but there is something going on there. Dylan is trying to look after his daughter Orla since his wife’s murder but he is finding it tough. So he is accepting of Gabe’s company even though he never brings Willow with.
Heidi has started to notice that Freddie is acting strangely especially around Willow but she doesn’t know why? So what if they know each other from years back. But there is more strange things happening in the neighbourhood and Heidi just knows that something bad is coming. But what happens next shocks everyone.
A good read. Full of secrets & lies.
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review
Home Is Where the Lies Live by Kerry Wilkinson and narrated by Matthew Spencer, Rebecca Lee, and Julia Barrie was another excellent book written by one of my favourite authors. Every book or audiobook I have read or listened to has been addictive from start to finish with lots of twists and turns throughout with great characters and Home Is Where the Lies Live was no different.
"Even the most perfect home can hide shocking secrets. But on this peaceful street, is one of them dangerous enough to kill for?"
So true this can be!
When young married couple Heidi and Freddie moved into Huntington Grove. All their neighbours see they are very friendly and polite but why is one door in their house always locked? Very Strange!
Across the street, Willow tries not to argue with her teenage daughter, Willow is trying her hardest to keep everything together especially as her marriage is falling apart. But, where does her husband really go every night, leaving his side of his bed beside cold beside her?
Feeling lonely, she always waves hello to single dad Dylan next door. His wife died in a tragic murder. The culprit was never found. It’s no surprise there are rumours he was involved…
It’s time for the whole street to gather for a summer party. So, on a beautiful sunny day, everyone plasters on a fake smile. But soon the picnic tables will be overturned, sirens are blaring and one of the residents will be marched away in police handcuffs. - (My kind of Party! lol)
Everyone at the party are questioned by the local Police.
But everyone will lie. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Everyone is hiding something, who has a secret big enough to kill for?
And why?
I loved all the narrators Matthew Spencer, Rebecca Lee, and Julia Barrie they all worked so well together and made this book come alive.
Superb book I loved it.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for my Arc.

REVIEW
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First of all, the title of this book is fitting. I was totally gobsmacked with the ending,it exceeded my expectations, really. It was different from other psychological thrillers I've read. I liked the storyline, the characters, and most of all, the suspense.
🏡🏡
The book started on a neutral note with Heidi, the newcomer in the neighborhood. But, the suspense kicked off right at the beginning. I really liked reading about Willow, Heidi, Dylan's families, and, by extension, Allison's. I liked the mix of the police questionings. It literally kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering who shot the gun and who was hit. I so was not expecting the ending, but I'm glad about it.
🏡🏡
The characters I was suspecting were Gabe, Willow's husband, Freddy, Heidi's husband, Dylan himself, and Allison's husband. The thing is, they all had skeletons in their closets, some worse than others, but I really liked the ending.
🏡🏡
My favorite character was Beth. She was the lightest in the book. I liked her personality, and she communicated with Dylan effortlessly.
🏡🏡
This book was very good and I liked reading it.

First things first, I have been in a mountain of a slump these past few months. So reading this was already difficult for me which admittedly is not fair to the author so I sat back and really took my time with this review. Now that I am slowly crawling out of my slump, I thought back to this and my feelings were the same in that I just was not crazy for this one. I found the character Heidi to be a bit naïve with a husband that is suspicious in so many ways, not questioning a lot of his behaviors. The story itself was great, especially with the reveals and answers in the end. It was the believability for me. The dialogue between everyone and their actions just didn’t feel like I was there with them in the story as I usually do. Overall, this was an okay read that I give three stars to.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
Heidi & Freddie have saved to be able to buy a house in Huntington Grove, even if it has meant Heidi has had to give up her job. When she arrives a week after Freddie she meets Isabella the daughter of Willow across the road who helps with the boxes. Willow & Isabella have a fiery relationship. Willow tells her that they is a street party next week- good way to get to know people. The story switches from house to house- all with their own secrets & upsets. There are also segments involving police interviews after the party- we know something pretty awful has happened but we don't know what or to whom!
Kerry Wilkinson has a great skill at creating characters & events that keep the reader involved & wanting to know what happened next. My guesses were all wrong (as usual!) but it was an enjoyable time finding out! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.
Absolutely amazing!!! I am a massive fan of the author so always have high expectations and omg this blew them out the water. Its just so perfectly plotted out, the connections, the lies, the secrets, the cover ups....... its sheer genius! The characters are all vividly brought to life, the plot is always moving forward and as the reader, I wa skept guessing theiughout. Its so complex and so well woven but without ever feeling confusing or messy. It's just top class writing and the kind of book other domestic noirs aspire to become. A must read
This is an addictive psychological thriller!
As I read, I felt like I was reading about different families connected as neighbors, but each harboring secrets…like several stories in one! It’s an awesome read with a lead-up to something that happen at the neighborhood party. In between the chapters with perspectives of 3 characters are statements from witnesses to said events in the future. It’s mesmerizing!
This is probably my favorite Kerry Wilkinson novel yet!
Narration of each perspective by Matthew Spencer, Rebecca Lee, & Julia Barrie is absolutely splendid!
Another great read from this talented author.
Such a clever plot, full of flawed characters, with their secrets and agendas.
So many twists unravel in this top-notch read that you'll be left stunned.
This book was such a wild ride. We very quickly are introduced to several characters and from there we start to see where they fit into the storyline. From what looks to be a quiet neighborhood street, comes several secrets that lie in each home.
A man that lost his wife and secretly wants revenge, a couple that just moved in and there seems to be some distance between the two, a couple that's been married for a couple years that has hit a rough patch, and an extroverted woman that seems like she's hiding something at home.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and I had ideas throughout that ended up being incorrect so it kept me on my toes and guessing the entire read! It was an easy read but I have to tell you the ending left me wondering if I missed something. I don't feel full satisfied by it but I still enjoyed the book as a whole.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I loved everything about this book! the fact that none of the characters are who they seem to be!! that you can really question everything you read and keep guessing what's going to happen... the fact that all stories end up entertwined and wrapped up so beautifully! A great book I fully recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery!
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for the ARC of this book. It introduced me to a great new author. Wilkinson writes amazingly. This book was fast paced, and full of secrets and unlikeable characters. I would love to read more by Wilkinson. I highly recommend.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Home is Where the Lies Live by Kerry Wilkinson in return for my honest review.
Wow Kerry Wilkinson does it again, this is a real page turner that had me gripped from the beginning till the end with so many twist and turns and an interesting array of characters this is an excellent read.
Kerry Wilkinson is a hidden gem, an author who deserves a lot of attention in the psychological mystery/police procedural genres. This one has a lot going on, but thats good since untangling the mystery is exciting and fun. Wilkinson is an author who isn't afraid of writing unlikeable characters and flawed heroes and can twist plots into warped shapes so get comfortable and enjoy!
A psychological thriller that kept me glued. When a new couple moves into the neighborhood, they meet a cast of colorful characters, all with their own secrets. When someone is shot during a block party, it’s anyone’s guess who did it and why.
Thanks for the opportunity to read!
My first book by Kerry Wilkinson and a very enjoyable read about how appearances can be deceiving and how you never can tell what goes on behind closed doors.
Heidi is excited to move into Huntington Grove with her husband Freddie, leaving their tiny flat behind for a lovely house with a garden. When she arrives on the street, her and Freddie are given a warm welcome, but all is not what it seems in Huntington Grove. There is Willow and her troubled marriage to Gabe, plus Willow’s irritable and moody 17 year old daughter, Isabella, from her previous marriage. Single dad Dylan is parenting his 7 year old daughter alone after losing his wife in a tragedy a few years earlier and then there is, full of herself self-appointed “queen of the street”, Alison, whose husband is rarely seen as he works in Hong Kong most of the time. Every person on the street seems to have secrets that they want to stay hidden, but everyone knows secrets have a habit of coming out, no matter how hard someone tries to hide them. Just over a week after Heidi and Freddie move into the street Alison organises a street party in honour of High Kingsley’s 1,400th birthday but it goes tragically wrong and the beautiful fairy lights adorning the street are suddenly overwhelmed by the flashing blue lights of emergency service vehicles. It’s at this point that all the neighbours’ secrets and lies start spilling out into the open and everyone starts to get a new perspective on their neighbours. Will life in Huntington Grove ever be the same again after such an explosive street party?!
Well, this story was littered with a good few very unlikeable characters, one of which I had strong feelings about from the very first few chapters and this didn’t change as the story went on. I was initially worried about the timeline jumping around from the present to the future, but this worry was unfounded as I didn’t find it a problem at all. My heart really hurt for Dylan and Orla, and I could definitely understand the root of some of Dylan’s actions. I think most people would want to try and get justice for the person they loved. I adored Beth and thought she was just what Dylan and Orla needed in their lives, and I was rooting for them all the way through the book. I really enjoyed the police statement chapters and thought they were a nice touch adding to the overall story. By the end of the book, I was having trouble deciding who was the worst character after all the secrets and lies had eventually come out, but I found the ending really wrapped things up quite nicely.
Overall, a good psychological thriller with some interesting twists that I didn’t see coming. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys the psychological thriller genre.
Thank you to NetGalley, Kerry Wilkinson and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.
Another good book by Kerry Wilkinson. A neighbourhood thriller that gripped me from the first page with twists and turns and intrigue thrown in. A very well paced storyline that I highly recommend.
